@riyya exactly the point Vandana married Arjun's father as it was his father's decision to marry her as people were telling many things about her or rather I would say her name was tarnished in the society. Obviously when a lady lives with a widower people will gossip. More than the need of Arjun it was the gossip that should have made Arjun's dad take that step. He also thought yes his child will also get the love of a mother. Vandana knows the pain of public humiliation and what gossips can do. She also tells she didnt care about public gossips.
So knowing how public gossip can harm a person , going to publicly declare a girl insane for whatever reason is utter lack of sensitivity. For the one who holds high moral ground the actions doesnt speak that moral ground. It is always said your character is revealed in the toughest of circumstances. how you behave when faced with moral conflict. The beauty of hypocrisy is that in the times of moral conflict it will stand exposed. It will show itself.
In MB there is a beautiful scene where Krishna makes Kunti take the long walk to Karna to beg for the lives of her five sons. The way the mother spreads the aanchal in front of the son she has discarded for the safety of her five sons is a beautiful travesty of justice by Narayana. Karna grants her the boon that he wont kill four of her sons. It will be between him and Arjun.
In the infamous hall of dice Panchali is called a prostitute because she has five husbands and everyone stands mute. She is insulted in multiple ways and they say she can be disrobed as what honor for the woman who has got five husbands.
What kuruvansh forgets is that the matriarch Satyavati had a child out of wed lock in Vyasa and the widows Ambika and Ambalika were forced to have relation with him to get children. Kunti herself had Karna before wedding and her five children are not through Pandu but from 5 different Gods. All these women were on moral high ground.
But a woman who had no relation before her wedding, who is married to five men as per vedic rituals and have been following strict rules with her relation with every husband is called prostitue publicly.
Reason Panchali publicly has five husbands whereas other things were under the carpet. So behind curtains acceptable, if the same thing done as per the process unacceptable. That's why people tell dont forget the way you came. Dont forget the roots. It cannot be one rule for you and another for another person just because it suits you.
it is exactly for that reason Panchali's question become valid and Lord himself comes for her protection.
