I am interested to see this truth Ashwin speaks of, whatever it is it cannot justify how he abused and tortured his daughter. Hopefully Jhanvi will speak up

I don't y but have a feeling that Maya Hallucinates the torture.. meaning nothing matched... her fear, his expressions.. and her dialogue "she told him what he shud know"..

It will b interesting to know the layers... even Jhanvi was a bit worried about her telling her past.. she def has a huge bad prob...

Maya gave Arjun an overall description of what her childhood consisted of, she didn't give him details as we speak. I think those torture Ashwin did to Maya had definitely let her to some mental problems & it 1st showed itself when she somehow injured Ashwin in his leg...it very well night have been an accident but Ashwin held it saying Maya is mad. Ashwin keeps Maya in fear & he uses that as to torture her more, probably taking his anger because he had gotten a limp. Anyways that mental illness that started then is still in Maya which I think is bipolar disorder considering Maya's violent moods at times or maybe PTSD, it can get serious if not treatment is given or maybe she is suffering from both..

I know. I have said that in one of my replies here to a member here that no matter the truth, there's no way Ashwin's action can be justified or validated. Yeah, that mystery is what keeps me glued to the show. Jhanvi doesn't seem like she's going to speak up any time soon.

Aren't the details crucial? It's like reading the synopsis on a book cover and passing a judgement whether the book is a good or a bad one. In order to correctly critic a book, one needs to read it fully. Similarly, the outline of Maya's past isn't a basis good enough to give her a clean chit. She presented her truth to Arjun in a manner that suits her purpose, gaining Arjun's love. And hence, the dialogue.

Could be, could be not. I think I'm more inclined to my theory of a pre-existing mental condition(s)/multiple disorders further aggrevated by Ashwin's torture and Maya's own actions which she might have taken as a result of her state of mind.

That's a point that crossed my mind too. Solely based on the premise that Jhanvi still tolerates Ashwin instead of taking Maya and going to some other place, far away from him.

Of course this could be put down to the fact that Jhanvi still has a soft corner for Ashwin, but no sane mother should allow a torturer of her daughter to walk in and out as he pleases. When Ashwin walks in, Jhanvi rarely appears fearful unless her daughter is present too.

Just hope the CV's have planned this out well and it sounds logical when the actual truth comes out.

From what's been shown and said till date, I don't think its hallucination. That would be taking it too far and the writers would be biting more than they can chew. All of it is graver than we think, that's a given.

Maya could have had a mental condition since birth, which is why ashwin hated her., the pre existing mental conditioned was worsened due to the severe torture then maya finally snapped and became more felt. perhaps she tried to kill ashwin and made many more attempts through a certain period of time-hence all the court cases. as far as I remember, Jen said maya is not a villain and I don't think writers will make her out to be a diabolical psychopath like Kajol from gupt.
Maya mehrotra basically did what she could to survive and became insane while doing so.

I haven't watched yesterday's episode. But the theory of a pre-existing mental disorder seems more likely. Surely it has been aggravated by Ashwin, and Maya is fearful of it coming out in the open. Ashwin has created that fear in Maya's head that nobody will accept her once they know about this. Hence Maya wears this veil of a strong independent woman everywhere she goes. Sure there is torture involved too but what she said to arjun was only the half truth. The real reason she puts up this false image in front of everyone, totally unlike her real self is coz she's way too insecure and scared that nobody will accept her real self, a fear that has been created by Ashwin. Will watch the episode asap...seems interesting.

I almost thought you're going to shove the gupt theory in my face like scores of people did earlier on but I'm so glad you didn't. Sorry, I'm just do done with the gupt theories that I couldn't have put up another one. 😆

The theory you suggested is technically the same as mine. No difference of opinion of thoughts there. Yes, Maya did what she could or had to do to survive and gradually became this person she is today. As much as what did or must have done is understandable, I don't think it should ever be glorified. I don't think the makers intend to make her an outright negative character either but it's the glorification that I fear.
