I'm going to keep this short today and just talk about the most crucial part of the episode, the last few minutes. We all know how Maya's had a traumatic past but we have been devoid of details that'd give us some clues tied up to her past. I couldn't catch those flashbacks Maya had because I was busy doing some work. A man, a woman and him trying to drown her in water well, was it? Anyhoo, the conviction with which Ashwin says that he needn't do anything to drive Arjun away from Maya but her truth alone is sufficient.

Sans Ashwin's involvement in Maya's past, I think those new flashbacks indicate towards Maya possibly having a disorder since birth or probably developed a mental disorder during childhood which was further aggrevated and exploited by Ashwin. This eliminates the possibility of Ashwin being the root cause, he added to something that was already there. This is the second time Maya gave Jhanvi that insanely freaky look and spoke in a voice not quite like her own. Split personality disorder, perhaps? Or more likely a combination of multiple disorders like we've maintained the possibility of it right from the inception of the show.

Her extreme reluctance and fear to go to godown could only mean those flashbacks she had took place in that very godown and whatever happened down there was without a doubt, terribly dreadful.

I despise Ashwin, I do. But you gotta thank him for spicing things up! Amusing though how he did complete research on Arjun in just one episode. 😆

Edit : Guess it doesn't really match the description of split personality disorder. My bad. Pomegranate was kind enough to point out that borderline personality disorder fits Maya's state better.

Looks like bipolar or split personality disorder going by that voice change- asking her mother to GO in one second and then begging her to solve it in any way the next instant.

Maybe a scenario where she is not "in control" of her alter persona and doesn't remember what havoc the "alter persona" wreaks.

Aswin is the most evil character i have ever seen...seriously what problems does he have with his own daughter...even the most evil person also do care for thier children.. I have seen vamps even killing for thier own son/ daughter.. But here i dont understand, why would he torture his own daughter..true, he may not love jhanvi..he married her for money...but what has his daughter done that he tortured her so much.. He is more mentally ill .. Which normal person whould treat his children this way..

Yeah, bipolar or split personality seems a definite. Along with that, there could be PTSD combined with other disorders. Exactly, one moment she commands Jhanvi to leave and seconds later she's begging to her for help. She is definitely aware of her conditions though but probably cannot control her alter personality.

Hey ,
Im mostly a silent reader if the forum.. But thought i could share some of my observations on yiur thread coz they are my favs on the forum
Your thoughts always match with mine :D
About Maya's mental illness, i am ALMOST certain she has OCD for sure.. she always keepa the stuff on her desk in the exact same pattern... Never changes.. I cant remember the exact episodes but when arjun shifts something, the phone i guess, she shifts it back to the exact same angle that it was at the beginning...she has done this a couple of more times..
Also she is obsessive about everything she does.. Work(good for her.. She is successful coz of it), "love"(arjun and her Mom) , hate(ashwin), everything... To the point of compulsion.. She cant help but do it!
But that is not her only problem though...she is depressed, she is definitely tramatised and could also have Bipolar disorder(although her cycles of mania n depression are not really clear, its a possiblity)
I dont think multiple or split personality... They usually assume an entirely diiferent identity and behaviour.. Totally different from what they really are.. Eevn in thise freeky looks, she was still Maya.. Jahnvi's daughter.. It was there.. So i dont think MPD..

I think ashwin, who discovers her OCD or bipolar treats it as "Madness" like most people and him being the asshole he is , will threaten his daughter instead of supporting her.. Make her feel she is infact mad and drive her to break his leg.. And then of course he purely hates her while she takes control of her own life...

P.S. im a med student n whatever i have written about the illnesses are correct psychiatric analysis as far as my knowledge goes.. Of course i could be wrong.. Do bear with me if I am.

I get what you're trying to say however I'll disagree when you say 'even the most evil person cares for their children'. What's evil is evil. There are no and there should be if's and but's there. The fact that he's abused the people in his life is a testimony of the fact Ashwin is sick in the head.

Thank you!

Maya does definitely have OCD. She's known and seen to have kept her stuff organised and cleaned to the limit that she can't stand the sight of mess, she also has major preferences to one particular color, all these are signs of OCD. However, how mild or severe it is cannot be diagnosed by unqualified folks like me. You, however, might have a better understanding as you're a medical student. Thing is, OCD probably cannot be considered so threatening that you can't possibly live with the person who has it.

Thus, my post focused on the disorders that are potentially dangerous if found to be extremely severe. To me, Maya shows signs of depression, OCD, PTSD, insomnia and perhaps, even dual/spilt personality disorder. If you have seen today's episode, the switch Maya made from commanding Jhanvi to leave to begging her to help is quite uncanny and cannot be unseen. Having said that, we aren't professionals and can't come to conclusion unless the show itself offers us one.

Um, sorry, I am not quite sure I got you? 🤔 If you're trying to say that it could go either ways (good or bad) if and when Arjun comes to know of Maya's truth, then yes. That said, that's not quite the point of my post. 😆

I don't think it is Biopolar or split personality. to me, it looks like borderline personality disorder which may have existed since birth but instead of seeking treatment, ashwin aggravated it for his own benefit.

I got this from mayo clinic

Borderline personality disorder is a mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing problems functioning in everyday life. It includes a pattern of unstable intense relationships, distorted self-image, extreme emotions and impulsiveness.

With borderline personality disorder, you have an intense fear of abandonment or instability, and you may have difficulty tolerating being alone. Yet inappropriate anger, impulsiveness and frequent mood swings may push others away, even though you want to have loving and lasting relationships.

Borderline personality disorder usually begins by early adulthood. The condition seems to be worse in young adulthood and may gradually get better with age.

If you have borderline personality disorder, don't get discouraged. Many people with this disorder get better over time with treatment and can learn to live satisfying lives.
