Very interesting thread👏, wonderful analysis by everyone, which has given a clear picture of the strength of this forum, the in-depth knowledge, and analytical skills of the members here, which I really appreciate and feel like to share a few thoughts of mine here .

I haven’t seen the Beyhadh 1, so without any incubated ideas of the past, I started viewing this Bey2 with inquisitiveness. Instead of refreshing my memories, I am here to express my opinion as a fresh viewer. It means, this Maya is not the same woman you all remember/ referring her from last time!

For me, this new Maya is an expert in mind games that she is playing with MJ, Rishi and Rudra, which strengthens the sense that the outcome is inevitable because of the nature of the human psyche.

She entered as if a theme silently entered into the episode from the past crime to mete punishment at present!

In the first scene, she walked past without turning. She’s lean and hungry, with her enigmatic eyes and a long dark shadow — a fighter, to fight with that one who robbed her young-girl years long ago!

Her expressions are like those of a cornered animal. Defiant and intense, but skittering around looking for escape at the same time. Fight or flight. Her voice is a low and chilling monotone.

There is a curious style, a great sense of high voltage about her. She is dressed in black and black high-heeled pumps, an aristocratic look. We got a look at her now for the first time. She could be anywhere from twenty to thirty. Appeared like a feared chic when she was with Rishi and like a tigress whenever she was with Rudra. Delicate-Featured pretty lady in a flawed accessible way. She doesn’t stop the party when she walked in, but you’d like to get to know her intentions. Her vulnerable quality masks a strength even she doesn’t know it exists.

It’s an indelible description of a complicated woman, Maya is one so persuasive that you'd even think what sort of a softhearted lady she is , but in the next moment she will reveal her hidden intention with a ferocious glare. Not every scriptwriter takes the time to pen such a vivid character introduction — some include few details other than an estimated age or a few quick adjectives, but here the scriptwriter preferring instead to let her stoic silence do the talk with us, i.e, the viewers.

You only get one chance to make a first impression … unless there’s a sequel, in which case you’ll have to be reintroduced a well-established character from a different angle! That’s what happened here. Let’s look at the way how Maya declared her entry with a mud-stained dress carrying her past as a libel, starting with the first scene! when this humble young girl had no idea she would go on to become the warrior of the revenge one day-- resisting the wrong done to her by many in her past.

Some interesting, sometimes frustrating trends emerged in the details; you may not be shocked to learn that most of these writers spend far more time describing the female character’s thinking process than they do her male counterpart’s. But whether the descriptions are well-written or problematic, here they offered plenty of insight into how a woman will tempt or to attempt committing a crime to soothe her aching heart!

The manner in which the character Maya addresses crime and punishment is not exactly what one would expect!! The crime is committed in Past , which we have no idea yet, and the punishment comes to a few episodes later, in the Epilogue of Maya story that is suspense for us. The real focus of the story is not on those two endpoints but on what lies between them—an in-depth exploration of the psychology of a slayer, a sufferer in the past and a slayer at present!! The inner world of Maya, with all its doubts, deliria, guessing, fear, and despair, is the heart of the story! I feel, the beginning was intriguing, with immense curiosity we started watching Maya and the vengeful acts of her in those sets of tactics, waiting patiently to see the facts from her past but until now, we are clueless, except imagination! It is a big flaw, keeping the truth at bay for long, and trying to confuse the viewer so long! Why Antara was a gray one in the past and why she supported her husband's sins , we have no idea, who is Diya and why she is looking at MJ so intensely, is difficult to define, mainly why Maya is here in the web of MJ , either to destroy him or to be destroyed by him again only to be saved by Rudra in future. What is the story behind Rudra's hatred towards MJ, what he has seen and what he has lost, is another mystery, many stories are there to unfold, but the makers are keeping the stories away from our perception, since long. This lagging between the revelation of the actual truth and the ongoing procedure, which is at times creating withdrawal symptoms in viewers' minds! Every character is carrying an interesting story which the cvs are not allowing us to know, that ' not allowing ' feeling is spreading its wings around.😊 Resultant is this wonderful thread!!

Tell me something....masked she advances was promoted....What did Maya do in party?...something is missing....

I like beyhadh 2 a lot better than beyhadh 1. I feel Maya Jaisingh is actually what Maya Mehrotra should have been, moreover the makers have already explained that the focus this time is on the story not just Maya alone and that is definitely a plus. Moreover the cast this time is a lot better than the previous season. Everyone in show is doing their best and that reflects in their performance.

I was quite disappointed with beyhadh 1 given that they turned Maya into some vamp or villain and Saanjh was glorified even though she was wrong for loving a married man. Hence I quit watching Beyhadh and only followed the updates.

I prefer Maya vs Mj over Maya vs Saanjh any day as the latter was an utter crap fest in my opinion.

Beyhadh hatred revenge obsession over undeserving beyhadh love obsession for an unworthy guy that goes ahead to cheat on Maya.

It's well written and the cast this time opposite Jen is amazing and talented. In season 1, it was Jen carrying the show on her shoulders as Kushal and Aneri were such terrible actors.

I completely agree with you as jenny was only one who was best thing in season 1

I feel BeYadh 2.0 better in execution than 1.0 but early to judge. It's time for makers to start unfold Maya s past so can connect characters well as don't know what she suffered.

I think fans should give the show time. It's a thriller and i think the show is going good.

I have to say that when the show was being promoted before it came on it had a dark eerie look about it and even though the show looked good I felt that apprehensive to watch the show. I started watching from 2 weeks back and since then I have not stopped watching the show.

I think it's dark, cool and fast

The acting by the casting is top notch. Jenny is amazing in the show and i actually dnt think she is one dimensional in any way. She literally is Maya at the moment when she is On screen u can't take your eyes of her.

Bt i feel that the show is lacking heart at the moment.

Shrivin is doing an excellent job in the show. And him and Jenny's scenes are really good but they lacking for me. If anything i like the scenes btw rishi and Maya more they innocent and extremely cute and it's surprising how well they both look considering the age difference. Also they kind of remind me of the maya and arjun. Kushal was a very limited actor Bt his scenes where amazing with Maya they just made u root for them. Here the actor playing rishi is an awesome actor and i love all his scenes with Maya.

With rudra and Maya there is just too much competitiveness with their characters and spoke is not really able to really connect with them.

I also feel like coz I read an article of the actor before the show started and he seemed to be very competitive and wanted to be the best I feel that has spilled over to his character.

The acting is good Bt again there isn't much heart. Also ananya and rudra. Again their scenes are well acted together Bt their chemistry is so dull and i can't help Bt compare them to saanhj and arjun and again the couple is lacking even though the actors playing rudra and ananya are far superior.

I Also dnt like Maya"s mom she is annoying. She also looks so young and she can't compare beauty wise to Maya"s season 1 mom.

The one thing that has me hooked is that the show is a thrilling and enjoyable I dnt feel as if Maya is really bad and i think the show is much better than season 1. Only thing nice in part 1 was Maya and arjun and Maya"s madness. Fans should give the show time for the writers to show their story.

I agree with Viswasruti that this is a great topic for discussion. Thanks to the TM for bringing this up that helped all of us read different takes on the concept of the show. 👏

Arjun never cheated on Maya, and Saanjh did no wrong by loving Arjun. Loving someone isn't a crime. They just mistakenly almost-kissed once, which they both regretted. Doesn't really count as 'cheating'. Also if you've forgotten, Saanjh is the one who got Maya-Arjun married.

Also, no matter what Saanjh and Arjun did, they didn't deserve to have their lives destroyed by Maya.

B1 was a character driven show whereas B2 is a story-driven.

B1 was solely Maya's show. What works in that season that there was a "novelty" factor. First time there was a female lead who was grey or at times completely black. There, Maya has a past but also has deep psychological issues (which this show never explored). As a character only Maya was worth-watching rest are honestly not interesting. I used to find Arjun ignorant and fool and Saanjh irritating. After Maya, only her father was interesting. In terms of performance Jenny and Rajesh Khattar shined. Kushal's and Aneri's acting was not up to the mark. From the second half, they had made Maya like Rajnikant who can escape everything and anything. 😂

B2 is a typical revenge show so here we are not only looking forward to Maya but the whole story. Since, it is already established that Maya will eventually take revenge from Mj, her every move is expected. Basically she have to do what she is doing to justify the story. In this Maya has past baggage but definitely she is saner than B1 Maya. She is capable of normal human emotions. Coming to story, every character has layers which is the best part of B2. Therefore, the impact of Maya is not as strong as B1. I am looking forward to every character even antara, daadi, and diya. All of the characters have something to contribute in the story. Moreover Maya, I am looking forward to MJ who i find the most intriguing character even more than Maya. Dekhu to aakhir chiz kya hai yeh hai Mritunjay (love the name though)

In terms of styling I like B1 Maya becoz i have seen variations in her dressing from corporate to sarees. In B2, maya's dresses are good but her makeup make her look tired and washed-out though i liked her party look.

So, my conclusion is if you want to see The MAYA then follow B1 and of you want to see actual story then follow B2.

I think Beyhadh 2 is better written and more gripping.

It’s a slow burn for sure though, although interesting - it is moving at a slow pace which is annoying sometimes. They really took their time cementing the characters. And other than Rudra, everyone else on the show has gray shades.

I only liked the initial episodes of Beyhad 1 after that I lost interest. Whereas Beyhad 2 is something I have been wanting to see on Indian TV for ages. I actually like the stoic element of the Maya's character. To be frank I am tried of seeing the overly melodramatic and emotional females on Indian tv. I love the cool and composed angle they are showing here. It reminds me a lot of the American show Revenge which I loved. I watched EK Hasina thi but while it had some good performances it was melodramatic and then switched to the typical saas bahu type drama.
