Dec 12th - Drawing Closer Together
MJ's obsession - MJ is obsessed with knowing everything about his sons and he'll do anything to get to it. Even if that means manipulating those very people closest to him. Somewhere Dadi's words are starting to make sense. MJ couldn't always have been this manipulative, scheming individual, who is not afraid to use his own friends and family against each other to win. Who would want others to turn out like that? But without even knowing it, Ananya may actually be the perfect response to MJ's obsession. She placated him and gave him a different lollipop to suck on instead. And though she made a mistake by calling the media, she quickly corrected that mistake when she learnt what Maya's condition was.
Rudra's chase - There was something almost symbolic to that chase. It kind of signified that at some point Maya will pull away from Rudra and Rudra will recall all the times with Maya and give chase. And while she'll know, he'll need to make it up to her to bring her back. And then that dialogue mujhe harne ki aadat nahi hai. Somewhere it gave us a glimpse of that part of Rudra that is similar to MJ. MJ hates losing as well (I mean come on that has got to be obvious with his obsessive behaviour). Rudra doesn't like losing either. What he doesn't realize is that he did lose. Maya may have revealed a part of her that she didn't want to reveal via the three pillars, but Rudra lost. Because he was the one who gave chase to Maya and stopped her. However, this loss is only in Maya's books. For Rudra, the loss would have been if he would have had to go to MJ. By bringing Maya back, he won in his own books.
Shaadi karni hai mujhse - Oh Rudra thank you for making me laugh. You don't know how true this is going to become. At some point, you and Maya are going to get married. Stop foreshadowing what's going to happen with you. On another point, that glare that Maya gave at that was hilarious as well. It said "don't even think about it". But at some point it's going to happen Maya.
Interesting thing to note is that Rudra saw the call from "chemist" and Maya denied it. Rudra is more important for Maya. She already has Rishi wrapped around her finger. Despite hurting him, he still wants her. But for Maya, Rudra is more important. Rudra is the one who can break MJ, not Rishi. Rishi can only financially drain him, leave him, or die and become a stab in MJ's soul. But Rudra will be the one to break MJ bit by bit like Maya was broken.
Rishi and the female family clan - I didn't know how else to title this in a few brief words, so female family clan. Ah the comic relief of the episode. No I'm not discussing any symbolism here. I'm just going to enjoy this whole scene as a nice entertainment relief to the show. Forget it CVs, I'm not digging into this scene. Not even one bit.
Mujhe aapna kam bechna hai khud ko nahi - Interesting choice of words. This seems to tie back to what happened with Maya. The money that was thrown at her. The question "tumhari keemat kya hai". The comment "yeh hai tumhari keemat". It all ties together and yet reveals nothing new. This backstabbing lover, whoever he was, played with Maya's emotions, then gave her money as if she was a nobody, and then possibly tried to kill her when she did or said something.
Confidentiality agreement - I just want to drop one comment here. No symbolism or anything, but what Rudra's lawyer did is illegal. The lawyer is Rudra's, not the Roy family's. He cannot just share documents without permission from his client, as in Rudra. Sending those documents to Aamir to show to MJ is illegal.
Trust - Both Maya and Rudra don't trust each other and yet it's the foundation of any relationship. Before they can build the 3 pillars of loyalty, commitment, and passion, the two need to work together to build this foundation. If this foundation was there, then Maya would never have needed a confidentiality agreement. She would have just said it and trusted that Rudra would keep to his word. And if this foundation was there, Rudra would never have sent the agreement to a lawyer to review. Not that either of them are wrong. Maya has been deceived badly. It won't be easy for her to trust anyone, especially a Roy. And Rudra has only seen Maya's craziness, not a sane Maya. One explanation is not going to fix everything.
Drawing closer together - Rudra may have broken Maya's trust, but it wasn't the reason she was affected. She was affected by their proximity. Up until now we've seen Maya remember the bad whenever a Roy touched her. Today she remembered only the good. That's got to mean something. It's got to mean that already, deep down, she's realizing that Rudra is not bad. He's just got the name Roy attached to him. That doesn't make him like the other Roys. And it's moments like these that'll make it harder for Maya because she doesn't seem to be the type to misuse just anyone for her revenge. She has a righteousness streak to her and that streak will hold her back, just like it did in the fight. She encouraged Rudra through her taunts and then stopped the fight early. That was this streak. And as the two draw closer together, this streak will come forward and confuse her even more.
I keep saying I'm not going to comment on the precaps, but yet here it goes because that brief precap and Maya's reaction to MJ that also adds to my point here. Firstly on Maya's reaction to MJ. The fact that Maya recognized MJ just from his footsteps and even before that is not that surprising actually. It's our instincts, our fight or flight traits, that take over. When someone is watching you, the hairs on the back of your neck stand even before you feel the stare. When you listen to your gut about something and later it turns out to be right, that's part of this trait. When you recognize someone walking towards you from far away, that's part of this trait. It's all human instinct. We recognize loved ones and danger immediately. Fight or flight. And that's what happened with Maya. She felt a danger, she heard a danger, and she reacted to that danger.
The precap ties into what I said above. Maya's reaction was visceral, she was shaken to the core, and she had nowhere to run and hide. In that moment, any Roy should have been enough to make her go crazy, but instead, something about Rudra made her reach out and hold onto him. In her fear, she found comfort in his words and arms. She may hate the Roys, but she cannot, deep down, stop herself from not hating Rudra. It's those instincts again. In her fear, her instincts told her - this person is fine, this person is not a danger, this person will comfort you.
Interesting that Rudra, despite all those big words about making Maya pay, also reached out to help Maya and calm her down. But you can see the questions written across his face: what is going on here and why?
