Hey all,

Thank you so much for all the encouragement on the prologue. Here is chapter 1. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Chapter 1

Zoya and Aditya had met on a fateful night. The night of many revelations, the night that ended their marriages. In other words, it was an end to the illusion, they had of their respective marriages. Life has taken a 360 degree turn for both of them.

They were trying their best to keep ZOSH, Yash's event management company, which was neck deep in loans, from being seized by the bank. Zoya felt the responsibility of returning loans taken from Aditya and the bank, weigh her down. She was faced with obstacles every step of the way. But she soldiered on. She had to pay Yash's debts. For her Yash was a closed chapter. She had accepted her fate. The reconciliation had come a for a price, she had almost lost her life. That's when she had decided to let go.

On the other hand, there was Aditya, his turmoil manifested in a more visual manner. You could see his pain come out as anger, which was mostly misdirected towards Zoya. His pain and hurt was vicious and hurtful. Since he couldn't get to Pooja, he troubled those who couldn't / wouldn't retaliate.

In the months following the death of their ex-spouses, they developed a love-hate relationship. More on the lines on Tom and Jerry. They had come to depend on each other for emotional support. Slowly, but steadily, thing were getting back to normalcy. But life had other plans. They were smeared with allegations of having married in secret. Their small lie to save Zosh, had costed them dearly. To save both their families of the ridicule and embarrassment, they married.

One month had passed since they were married. All the customary rituals were complete. Zoya had slowly gotten to know Anjana and Arjun. They were the first ones to accept her. As for Harshvardhan, she kept her distance as she didn't not want to listen to his caustic remarks and taunts. Noor had taken an accommodation nearby, to continue working at the Radio studio.

Present day

It was the day before Aditya was to start flying again. She knew how much it meant to him.

"Aditya starts flying again tomorrow. It is important that he starts with a clean slate. How do we do that? I think it'll be best for me to stay out of his way. This way, he won't be reminded of the past, nor will I have to waste my energy arguing with him. But it's not as bad as I make it out to be, is it? thought Zoya, innocently. The mere thought of having to endure an argument with Aditya was both fun and tiring.

An hour later

"Ugh... Alarms are the bane to my existence. I fail to understand the need to have it in mobile phones. What is the enmity people have with sleep? Why don't I ever get to have my beauty sleep? Is it such a crime? rued Aditya. Early mornings were not his strong suit.

He got out of bed and freshened up and got ready for the day.

"Come in he responded, to the knock on the door.

"Hmm... This smells really good! Are you sure you've made it?" asked Aditya playfully.

"No, it wasn't me. Angels descended from heaven to serve you a piping hot cup of coffee!" remarked Zoya.

"Jealous? are we?" asked Aditya

"Jealous? Of you? Dream on darling! Dream on" said Zoya, feigning nonchalance.

"Your denial changes nothing. You're jealous. I wish I could help you, but I can't. You see, one has to conquer their demons. Others can't do it for them." He said, with a glint of mischief in his eyes.

"Hahaha!! This is the highest level of ignorance, I have ever seen. I am not surprised though. I can't expect an epitome of sensibility and wisdom, from a person who is as vain, as dumb and as annoying as you are." She replied with a hint of sarcasm.

"Chide me, as much as you like. But the fact of the matter is that you can't believe your stars that you've landed me- the most good-looking person on the face of this earth!" remarked Aditya, proudly.

"Truth be told, I can't believe that I landed a fool like you, at all", said Zoya, with a teary eyes and a dazzling smile.

He smiled back. Not the smile where you see his pearlies, but the one where you see the truth in his eyes. Aditya didn't want to fight with her. Things were unpleasant as it is. There was no need to worsen it.

"What?! Why is he smiling? Wasn't he supposed to respond with sarcasm? No taunts? Nothing? There is something wrong with him. For sure!" thought Zoya.

"Come on, let's go down for breakfast, I am very hungry saying this, Aditya left.

"So much for ignoring him. What happened to staying out of his way? I have no business, in deciding to do anything. So much for my resolve. UGH! she slapped herself mentally and walked behind him.

At breakfast

"Welcome!! HRH has arrived! To what do I owe this pleasure Aditya? asked Harshvardhan

"Not again thought Aditya, rolling his eyes. He was used to this. He didn't care much for his father's remarks. Hence he didn't feel the need to react.

"Where is Zoya? Anjana asked

"Right here Mom! said Zoya. As she began to sit, "This girl is joining us for breakfast? Who gave her any right? This is my house. You'll might have made this a dharamshala, but when I am on the table no one except family should be present. Said Harshvardhan

"Fine, if that's what you want. Just know that I am here to stay. So breakfast or at the table or elsewhere, it doesn't matter. Enjoy your meal, for however long you can With this she walked off. Living with the Hooda's, she had learnt that ignorance is bliss. She wasn't going to have anyone hurt her, whoever that might be.

"How was it, Mr Hooda? Getting a taste of your own medicine? smirked Aditya.

"How dare you? roared Harshvardhan

"How dare I? How dare you speak to my wife like that? Just remember, I was quiet this time. You might not be as lucky the next time. So stop being a botheration to others. Or just try, you know" saying this, he returned to eating his breakfast without a care of the man that stood before him fuming.
