Chapter-5
Love in a hopeless place
Pain is not a measurable quantity, everyone in his or her respective life have something or the other which has made a painful mark on their life but people are too much engrossed in their pain that they forgot that they are not the only one who is suffering .No matter how many supporters you have but if that one person whom you want to understand you is not there then the pain is inseparable.
Zain and Aliya are departing to matheran because of some urgent business meeting. They are quite anxious about going there because the place has some bitter as well as some heart wrenching moment. This is the place where both of them lost the most important persons of their life. Someone lost hope while the other lost his life. It just refreshes the old wounds that they suffered years ago but things have changed, people have changed but now let us see whether it would have some blow on these two pure souls.
(Zain reaches Aliya's house to take her along with him so that he can spend some time with her. He comes across Zara and Kabir)
Zara-Hi uncle, you came here to meet ammi. (A sugar coating voice)
Zain-Yeah. You know, where Aliya is.
Zara-I'll go and call ammi. You please take a seat.
Zain-(astonished) really is that so? You are talking quite amiably with me.
Zara-(Monster uncle be ready, now see what I'll do with you. You would have never ever been surprised this much in your life)
Zara indicated kabir to put the gum on the chair so when Zain sits there then he is stuck there causing his pants to worn out.
Na sooner did Zain sits on the chair he is immovable from the seat.
Aliya enters and sees Zain sitting on the chair.
Aliya-Zain come on now get up. We are being late for the meeting.
Zain-Aliya I am sorry but I can't.
Zara and Kabir start giggling
Aliya-What is the problem Zain don't play pranks now. I am seriously not in a mood to fight with you.
Zain-Aliya try to understand "yeh meri izzat ka sawaal hai".
Aliya-Stop behaving like a kid, now you are being stubborn (irritated).
Zain-Your good for nothing kids have put gum on my chair and now I am unable get up.
Aliya-OMG I mean how, no when, no why sorry I am completely confused. (Looking at Zara and kabir) why you did this? Go to your room now otherwise I'll punish you. (With an angry glance)
Zara and Kabir ran toward their room
Zain-Now will you please help me to get out of this mess.
Aliya-Sorry Zain (coming towards him) instructs me what I should do.
Zain-you are asking me. Okay fine first pull me hard so that I could come out of this.
Aliya- hmm
Aliya pulling Zain from the chair and then they ended up falling down.
Aliya-ouch
Zain-Thank God I am out of that mess. Phew
Aliya-Now please move yourself so that I can be out of this mess. You are crushing me.
Zain-Sorry (standing up and forwarding his hand to Aliya for help)
Aliya-(Aliya quickly responded to the help) phew. Thanks Zain. These kids are day-by-day becoming notorious. I have to do something.
Zain-Yeah, you should. Okay now let us go. We cannot be later.
Aliya-Hmm. Wait a second did you just said something against my fostering. How rude, I didn't expect this from you.
Zain-No I am not questioning it but if you think so, I cannot help it. (With a naughty smile)
In the car
Aliya-Are your pants all right.
Zain-What do you mean to say? (Quite surprised)
Aliya-nothing, I was just making myself assure that your pants are all right, I am extremely sorry for what they did today with you.
Zain-No they are all right.
Aliya-(in her mind). why I am being friendly to him? It would have been better if he were stuck there for few more hours.
Suddenly Zain experienced something is wrong with the car so he stopped the car and went to see if there is a problem.
Aliya-What is wrong with the car Zain? How I wish I traveled by myself instead of you picking me up.
Zain-So sorry that your wish did not come true but I will be thankful to you if you help me out. I very well know you are quite experienced in all these stuffs. (Annoyed)
Aliya-thank you at least now you know I am better than you.huh.
Zain-Did any good happen to the car or it is in the same condition like before.
Aliya-shut up Zain let me concentrate.
Zain-From the past one and a half hour I am doing that only but now I think the little help that we would have got by someone that is also crushed by you .
Aliya-Zain I am done with it. I think we should take someone's help.
Zain-Aliya I am seriously irritated with you. What I was trying to explain from the past hours? Was it in Spanish, Dutch or some other planet language?
Aliya-stop it Zain you were the one to ask me for help. Stop this or else we have spent the whole night with each other.
Zain-okay fine let me ask for help.
A truck stopped and Zain was successful in convincing the driver to drop them.
Aliya-Thank god we got a lift otherwise what would have happened. Zain whenever you are with me something always goes wrong.
Zain-You should be thankful to me that I got a lift for the both of us and I thought that I should leave you in that weird place but being a gentle man, I did not do that.
Aliya-okay fine. (Irritated)
Aliya soon was off to sleep but Zain was not in a mood to sleep because he does not want to miss a single chance to stare at her.
Zain-How I wish that thing never took place in the past, then our present would have been different and happier.
Soon they reached to the hotel.
At night, there was a business meeting and the inauguration of the new hotel for which Zain and Aliya worked together.

Aliya-I never knew that the hotel is still not inaugurated this hotel should be inaugurated long back
Hotel staff-Ma'am we are not aware of this but after you resigned from your post sir never talked about this and left the project the way it was even he did not pay attention to the loss it was causing.
Aliya started wondering why Zain did this. She somewhere in heart knew that Zain still has feelings for her but she was unable to reciprocate her feelings because of the hatred and the past incidents. Zain was no more the same.
Zain was sitting alone at the bar away from the noise and glamour of the party, He was not at all drinking because he has learned that why to be dependent on something to overcome your pain.
Zain went outside and sat beside the poolside as there was no one and Aliya followed him because she never knew that Zain has other side of his own, which is unaware by many even Aliya do not know about this.
Aliya-What are you doing here?
Zain-Not anything special, sometimes I feel what we have done that we are suffering this much in this hopeless place.
Aliya-Zain because of you we are going through this and I really do not where the end is.
Zain was inculpable that he made his and Aliya's life miserable. He himself don't know that there is no end to this whereas Aliya is no more in a mood to deny that she still has feelings for him.
Zain's eyes were brimming with tear; he does not want to show Aliya that he is still stuck there where these all things started.

Am I being too rude to him? Zain I can't hate you .Why don't you understand Zain I am tired of fighting with you, neither I nor you deserve this Zain, I want to forget the past and move on I don't know until when I will be able to hate you.
You are making it difficult for me sometimes you behave as if I am the most precious obsession in your life and sometimes I feel that you have no place for me. Zain I want to be with you.
