Ekta & Co have forked the serial totally.

I called it first. They are borrowing heavily from Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. Angad faked his death and took up another identity to invade the FL's marital home to wreck her marriage. Looks like Rey is an Angad fan too. The only thing missing is Jay's sister for Rey to get an invitation.
