Part 4:
Amar smiled as the door closed and he walked away. As he was walking his phone began ringing. He took it out of his pocket. The caller id said Seema. He smiled and answered the phone. "Hello darling," he said as he exited the school. "Hey Amar. Did you reach the school?" "Yep. Saira is in safe hands now. I'm coming home in a few." He opened the door to his car and sat in the seat as he closed the door. "Oh well there was something I needed to tell you" Seema responded. Amar became confused as he noticed her tone changed. "What is it," he asked scared. "I'm going to a friend's house. I probably won't be back till Saira is." Amar became shocked. This morning they both or well at least Amar made plans to spend the entire day with Seema since Saira would be at school and they could have alone time. But he didn't want to question her. "Ok. Go wherever you feel like going." Seema thanked him and ended the call. Amar sighed and placed his phone on the seat next to him while he started the car and drove off.
Amar wasn't in the mood to go home as after today questions were arising in his head. He drove along an empty highway while he played a sad song on the radio. Today for some reason these thoughts were emerging in his head. He began thinking of why Seema was keeping such a distance from him. Every time he went near her she made an excuse to stay away. When he was happy she didn't show her excitement. When he was upset she somewhat consoled him and left. Amar sighed and parked his car along a plane field by a lake. He got out of the car and began walking along the pathway that led to the lake. His hands were in his pockets as he continued his stream of thoughts. Despite Amar giving Seema everything in the world she could ask for she wasn't happy. Out of nowhere he used Vidya as an example. He heard many things of her life being miserable but today she seemed as if she was the happiest person alive. He kept replaying Vidya's smile ins his head as he compared to Seema's expression. He gave her every luxury in life but she wasn't as happy as Vidya was. Maybe luxury wasn't everything? Maybe he didn't give her enough love? He sighed as he sat at the corner of the lake and began throwing rocks in. Was he really that bad of a human being? But how? Saira loved him like crazy but then why not Seema. In the four years of their marriage not once did she say I love you on her own. Amar would always have to initiate the love expressions. Even Saira was a mistake as they both were drunk that night. So if they didn't get drunk would they not have had Saira? These thoughts kept repeating in his head until he threw a rather large rock into the lake and it made a plunk sound. He sat up as he took in all the smells of nature. Even nature being it's dull self gave more happiness then his Seema did… He walked back to his car and sat inside as he roughly ran his hands through his hair. Despite him thinking so much one thought did bother him. Why did such a thought that Seema may not love him arise today and not in the four years of his life when Seema ran away from him constantly? He ignored the thought and started his car heading for home where no one was waiting for him.
Amar sat in his room going through some files to distract himself from the thought that his wife is not home. He did however call Seema constantly but received no answer. To restrain himself from going mental he put his files aside and laid down on his bed. He recalled the recent moments of today. The last moment that flashed before his eyes was Vidya taking Saira to class and he smiled closing his eyes. A while later he slowly opened his eyes from his nap. He sat up and rubbed his eyes shaking his hair a bit to fix it. He then looked over at the clock and jumped. He was fifteen minutes late to pick up Saira. He quickly got out of bed and grabbed his car keys. He ran down but then stopped in front of the kitchen. He saw a servant working and assumed Seema wasn't home yet. Oh well at least she was taking benefit of one luxury he gave her. He sighed and walked out to his car.
Soon enough he arrived at the school. Saira was waiting outside with Vidya. He ran up to them and began apologizing to Vidya. "I am so sorry! I fell asleep and didn't keep track of time." Vidya laughed as she held Saira's hand. "It's ok sir. Saira and I actually enjoyed this half hour that you weren't here." She beamed a smile at him. Saira joined into the conversation. "Yea papa! Ms.Vidya bought me ice cream from the canteen and then a soda. We sat and enjoyed our time very much! She even thought me how to draw a house!" Saira jumped in excitement. Amar smiled and held Saira in his arms. Vidya handed him Saira's school bag and pinched Saira's cheek. "Ok Saira darling! I'll see you tomorrow. And remember practice the house so you can draw one on the board tomorrow. All your little classmates will be jealous!" Saira raised her cheeks forming a huge smile and nodded. Amar took her to the car and buckled her in. Then he told Saira to wait as he had to speak to Vidya. He entered the school looking for her. When he asked one of the teachers she told him she was in the classroom. He went to the classroom and found her cleaning up the mess. He cleared his throat. Vidya looked over and smiled. She walked over to him. "Saira was no trouble at all. In fact she is one of my best students actually the best." Amar smiled and then took out his wallet. He took some money out and handed it to her. Vidya was confused. Amar replied to her confusion, "This is for the ice cream and soda. I know about your halat so…" He extended his hand but Vidya pushed it back. "No sir. Just because I am poor doesn't mean I can't buy one of my students ice cream or soda. In fact I have more joy in doing this than buying myself something nice. Please aap ye paise de kar muhje sharminda kar re hai." Amar realized he did too much and put the money back in his pocket. He apologized. "I am sorry. It's just that I can't live with a karz on my head. Kaun jane when I'll leave this world." Vidya quickly looked up. "That's why we should live our lives as if this is our last day." Amar's eyes sparkled as how her way of thought was exactly like his where as Seema disagreed with it.
