MUMBAI: Rakhi Sawant's reality TV hunt for a partner is drawing in huge audiences. The 9 pm one-hour show, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, is doing the trick for NDTV Imagine as it got a debut rating of 4.1 TVR and averaged the week ended 4 July with a 2.7 TVR.

NDTV Imagine consolidated its fourth place in the Hindi general entertainment space with 133 GRPs, gaining 25 GRPs (108) over the previous week to stay ahead of Sony Entertainment Television. Even after its prime time programming revamp, Sony has been able to garner 108 GRPs to stay put in the fifth rank, according to Tam data in the Hindi speaking markets (C&S 4+).

Rakhi's Swayamvar has had its impact on Star Plus' 9 pm show Bidaai. From the previous week's peak TVR of 5.1, the show's apex rating fell to 4.63 TVR. On an average count for the week ended 4 July, the show, however, continues to lead this time band.

Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kahlata Hai, however, has stood firm, staying as the channel's top-rated show with a peak TVR of 6.56.

Zee TV's 9.30 pm show Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo weakened to a TVR of 3.82 (from previous weeks 4.8), possibly under the Rakhi Sawant blow.

"Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is a four-week daily show and even if it gives an average TVR of 2 over this period, it is good for the channel. NDTV Imagine will definitely get more visibility with this show. The challenge for the channel is to use this opportunity to push up the other shows," avers a media observer.

For NDTV Imagine, the top-rated show after Swayamvar is Bandini, which has clocked a peak TVR of 2.07 in the week under review.

Meanwhile, the position at the top continues to be volatile with Colors ousting Zee TV to stay ahead by a 47 GRP margin, ending the week with 300 GRPs. Zee TV takes the second spot with 253 GRPs, while Star Plus is third in the pecking order with 239 GRPs.

For Colors, the good news is that some of the fictions are showing improved ratings. Apart from Balika Vadhu (5.95 TVR), Uttaran also has surged ahead of Star Plus' Bidaai (4.63 TVR) with a generation leap, which clocked a TVR of 5.1. Laado and Jai Sri Krishna also garnered 4.21 and 3.28 TVR respectively, while the recently launched talent hunt show India's Got Talent got a peak TVR of 2.93.

Movies did not play a major role this week for Star Plus and Zee TV; they aired six and four movies respectively and clocked 23 and 32 GRPs from them. Colors, however, collected 57 GRPs from the nine movies that it showed during the week, including Golmaal Returns.
