I'm little confused with the schools present in Jaitsar.

Jagya & Phooli went to a government school present in Jaitsar. Later Anandi started a girls' school in Jaitsar. Shivam, Abhi & Mannu go to Kendriya Vidyalay. Now Jaitsar has another school Shiv Niketan.

Are Jagya's childhood school & KV of this day one & the same? 😕

Jaitsar already has a Girls' school started by Anandi then why did she open a new one again (Shiv Niketan) ? 🤔

You forgot Basant Niketan. I think Central School was where DS and Nandu used to study. Mannu etc. are studying in some different school. In fact all this is just random - poor girls like Phooli used to study in proper school, then some other girls were made to study in informal school opened by semi literate rich beendani. Sometimes Central School - sometimes Basant Niketan or Shiv Niketan.

Mannu, Shivam, Abhi are also studying in Central school.

Perhaps Central school was built after Jaitsar became district. I think Jagya used to go to State govt. school.

The school opened by the semi literate rich beendni was specifically for girls, or more specifically for girls from economically/socially underdeveloped section of society, who don't get accommodated easily in the mainstream for whatever reasons. I didn't see any boy in that school. The school was not run on Singh's money, a principled government officer could see through the purpose behind running the school so he helped the school to get government grant.
Also, the beendni started that school because she had concern for every single girl in the village who could not go to school, probably she saw her own destroyed childhood in each girl. Had being rich beendni the only criteria for starting school, other beendnis from older generation or the girl of the family could have done that, but they didn't. It was only this specific beendni who decided to use her money or power that she had got by being a rich beendni for girls welfare.

At that time probably there was only one other school apart from beendni's school where Nandu/Jagya/DS used to go. Probably there are few more boys or coed schools now where BH kids study.

@bold - Shiv came later - the school was running on Singh's money for quite some time. And no Government officer can do what Shiv did - it was totally illegal to provide Government grants for such a school. No individual can open a school - there has to be a trust/society and there are a large number of formalities that are to be fulfilled - all this has been discussed in some other thread.

Yes, all the boys & DS are from Central School. Indeed lucky are those who escaped joining Anandi's so called schools. Leave formal education behind even in non-formal schools there will be specially trained persons to teach students but the one started by Anandi doesn't belong to either.

Her former school was only for 2-3 hours. They showed her teaching Language one day, Maths another day and some times History. Don't know if she ever taught them Science & English. No regular follow-up. No time table. Each day different subject was handled. No school for girls when Anandi fell sick or was down with personal problems. At that time Phooli was also not there.

Once Sumitra came and announced Jagya became doctor. They declared holiday. 😲 😆 Phooli went to sasural and came back when she was pregnant...no classes. Anandi & Gulli went to Phooli's place for her godh bharai...no school again. 🥱 I wonder if they ever took their work as a responsibility. Inquiring personal problems (of Anandi) while in class, flashbacks, memories, making faces, crying while teaching were part of their curriculum. Who cares? No one to supervise.

Don't know why Bhairon didn't think of hiring a full time qualified teacher for those girls when he was in a position to sponsor room for school, slates, text books, pencils, pens, embroidery material, notes & even a computer.

Perhaps Basant Niketan was closed and Shiv Niketan was opened - otherwise even DS and J/Ganga are not seen in Basant Niketan. Creatives forgot all about that.😆

Informal schools will not get any aid from the government. This is what I came to know.
