Nandini's life seems worse than that of Anandi's when she was that age
Nandini doesn't know any other life and how life can be unlike Anandi at that age.
Anandi went to school and she knew child marriage is wrong even though she had Sumi and Bhairon as her guardian angels and her Balak Var spoilt brat that he was he did care for her in his own way.
Nandini lives in total darkness - she has never seen any other kind of life - but flashes of Anandi do come through when she shows empathy to that lady Mangla was so like Anandi trying to put herself in that lady's place and look at her life from that perspective and also expressing gratefulness for the small mercies that lady shows her.
The way she smiled at her care taker after all the thrashing she received.

This girl doesn't seem to question why things are this way but instead she seems to try and find ways to escape this life imposed on her or find ways to make it bearable or make herself immune to the situation.

Anandi was very different - she questioned everything and finally it is her constant questioning that made Dsa question herself and the traditions that led to change in Dsa's thinking.Anandi is inqusitive by nature.
Anandi had this instinctive desire to change things Nandini - tries to find ways to cope with it.
But I guess Nandini needs to know that's not how things should be before she thinks of changing things and starts questioning.
