Hiii.. I am a Mangalorean and hardcore fan of BV from day one and this forum :).
Yes i do agree with all your posts... they used a wrong sentence in Kannada, portrayed the waiters and background people wrongly.But i appreciate the fact that they did refer to an authentic institution for Ganga (Fr. Muller's College of Nursing as shown in her admit letter) which really exists..and the name of the hotel they went to have Masale Dose... hotel Woodlands :).. But yes. it has a different ambiance (That's ok.. as they are not shooting it in Mangalore) and the waiters have uniform with name of hotel labelled on their shirts.I am thankful to CVs that they did do a little research before showing these things in the serial, unlike other shows or movies... where they use their own imaginations in portrayal of Mangalore. and they chose the city for the purpose of education which we are actually proud of.I hope they will stick to the authenticity as much as possible.No Offence to anybody :)Chinthana
@TM - Nice post👍🏼
Actually the language spoken in Mangalore is Konkini and Tulu. Tulu is similar to Kannada.
Konkini probably is similar to Marati. Mangalore culture is more close to north Indian culture.Karnataka is a the origin of both south indian ( carnatic) classical music as well as hidustani( north indian) classical music. Most of the Mangaloreans arevfair skinned. They are allGood with restaurant industries. Within Karnataka state itself there are 4 languages spokenAnd different cultures. Bangalore and south of karnataka are more like south Indian culture.Konkini speaking Mangaloreans associate themselves more with Maharashtrians than southIndians or other karnataka residents.Kannada may be more like a state language.Correct me if I am wrong. I have many freinds from different parts of Karnataka. I am a Tamilianbrought up in Delhi.

I'm from TN. Hindi Serial / movies ke liye sirf south hota hai. No existence of other state names, languages and difference of cultures. Sab ke liye ek hi stereotyped cliches which are far from the realities of today.
Kisi bhi hotel me waiters dhoti nahi pehente even in Tamilnadu. It could be in small village road side tea shops, not in hotels. And youngsters toh dhoti pehente hi nahi hai except on special pujas or in marraige ceremonies.
And ike some other member pointed out, all the boards / menu's have two languages - local language and English. Infact in bigger hotels, these days they use only English.
Not just in BV, in all the serials they show like this only. And this applies to all gujaratis, punjabis, bengalis too. Punjabis are shown always hyper and ready to do bhangra, i always want to ask a punjabi if there was any truth in this. Chennai me bahut punjabis hai. But i have no acquaitances in them. Kabhi kabhi lagtha kisi bhi rah chalte punjabi uncle se puch hi lun😆.
I think they are just ignorant or just not ready take the effort to portray it correctly. Anyway, It doesn't really bother me much.
