If you look at the whole hostage drama it didn't serve any purpose other than mere shock value and Ratan getting caught.

if you dont show violence, how are you supposed to know how your gonna confront it?

if kids dont see such violence, how would they know what happens in the world...violence happens eveywhere... at least they dont show the type of violence such as those from compton south east to east LA

this violence is just nothing compared to compton

Violence in BV or other shows like NAIDL never showed people how to confront it or use their presence of mind!

In the recent sequence all were tied, fear psychosis was created and by stroke of luck they got saved since Rat's wife told the truth to police and Sugna also came there with family. Haveli people only kept getting mercilessly beaten up.

I don't say things should be all goody goody like Sab TV serials. But violent scenes can be avoided and violent acts can be hinted at in a toned down manner instead of in-your-face maar dhaad.

I don't mind such scenes much but I know this is not what a family wants to watch together while having dinner and older people get distressed while watching such stuff.

really...here in england when we watch family movies like boys in the hood, gang violence, or films like gladiator...we dont mind...

infact families here encourage their kids to watch these type of things

every single kid mustve watched lord of the rings, its a childish fantasy that involves a lot of violent scenes...but parents allow their kids to watch them...

so i dont think i agree with you...infact i dont

Bhairon getting dragged unconciously look quiet inhuman and yes breaking Jagya's head was also violent but i feel it was these scenes which gave the impact...there are many other prime shows which sowed violence...i feel Indian T.V serials have touched altogether a new level...almost everything has inhanced...now bahu of t.v serials are mere teenagers (like Gunjan in SSLK or Roli of SSK)...the intimate scenes have become more bold (Ram-Priya of BALH or Gunjan-Maayank of SSLK) so naturally violence will also inhance...i can't say anything about negative effects on criminals because in today's world humans have somehow managed to pick up negative from even positive things so how will they not pick up negative ideas from negative scenes like these

In my views showing violence and crime should not be allowed in films and on television. There is a long lasting effect of media on the people especially children and youth. "what we see is what we learn. " so violent activities and horrendous acts and crime should not be shown on tv.
New ways of thefts are being taught through the movies. Instead of learning the outcomes of "truth always win. And good wins over evils". Youth learns how evil acts can be done and what should the evil doers have done to keep themselves out from being caught
Besides, everyone watch movies and daily soaps for entertainment and not for watching violence or crimes. It not only upsets the person but have a far reaching effect on the psychology of the person. It spreads fear in the mind of children.

@bold above, I agree, there is violence mainly to gain sympathy for the protagonist. It is almost always mindless and never show how to deal with difficult situation. Like in Shyam-Sugna case, a mortally injured Shyam lifted Sugna and went all the way to hospital, Jagya saved Ganga and now haveli people got saved by police. However, in earlier cases of violence in BV, at least the victims were not instigating the villains, but in haveli drama DS and Basant were instigating instead of thinking of ways to save themselves and Ganga/Mannu. The message from these tracks is to show that you can be a victim of violence but you have to wait for some masiha and you should are not supposed to do anything to save yourselves. And recent haveli track is one step ahead in showing that you will be alright after the masiha has come even if your head was smashed, you were bleeding and fainted. The villain will also keep giving empty threats and will wait for some masiha to come and save you. The villain will not actually kill you, he will just torture you with sword, fire etc. but will not carry out actual harm.

Its true that whatever they're showing nowadays is very violence provoking. Esp pouring kerosene on a kid, a pregnant lady and not to mention Ds and all others, Is it a message oriented track? What was the msg in this? not to help anyone? Bv cvs are trying hard to bring back the trps with these shocking and suspenseful tracks. But it was shown very ruthless the way singhs were beaten up. My son was affected with this drama and he was asking "what is he trying to do, does he wants to burn them??" which led me to switch off the TV. It was too much seriously for a primetime show
