I think the same issue will be at play even if J asks for the transfer. Why should a new employee be so demanding... and she knows J's nature ... he will be rude or something like that... and create another problem just like he did with the dean re: his MS exams.
Or the HR guy may say "we already did you one favour by hiring you, now to do you another favour "... and that would open her pandora's box.
I honestly feel that unless there is a real issue that causes you pain, one should try to work with the least possible disturbance. This is not a pain causing issue per se.
However, i think from a company ethics perspective, G could have asked for a transfer saying that it is not right for her to be supervising her own husband and his performance evaluations and making recommendations for his promotions etc. That is why most firms limit family members from working together particularly if one is in a supervisory position and the other is in a junior position... it can lead to all sorts of undesirable allegations of bias and favouritism.

i think jealously and inferiority complex is a childhood problem of jagat .initally he was jealous of anandi for getting better score in school then it was inferiority complex regarding his name , birthplace and family business, etc .then he felt ashamed of of being a person married to a simple village girl . Again when A topped 10th exam in jaipur , he taunted her for not informing him rather than congratulating her .then feeling jealous of lal singh because he is working in a hospital which was meant for jagat. Now this time gauri has given him a reason for feeling jealous & inferior to her . i hope he never comes to know about about ANSH otherwise he will return to anandi and start blaming others for all his doings and he may emotionally blackmail everyone and may convince every body to accept him by weeping like a child😡

So J can't approach HR as he is new and G because she has asked for too many favours. But yet HR policy doesn't favour husband-wife working together right?
So what exactly is the solution? 😕

As of now, there is no HR related solution in my mind.
The real solution is that Jagya needs to get off his butt and finish his MS within the next six months ... so that in some way this can be equalized. Otherwise gauri will become the dean of the institute and jagat will still remain an assistant doctor.
Otherwise, the gap will keep on widening as time goes by.
Till then, he needs to be mature make a decision and align with it --
1. That he atleast has a job with sng, and is earning money, so he should swallow his pride.
or
2. He realizes that there is no way that his mind or heart will be at peace reporting to gauri, so he should quit.
But staying in that situation and resenting it every day is ridiculous.

It ulitimately boils down to this, doesn't it? Maturity. Its high time that Dr Jagat grows up. You can't have people humouring your ego everytime. I can understand when he had no oppurtunity, no job. But now, all logic goes out of the window. I cannot approve of someone throwing away a good oppurtunity.
Thanks Tinoo, Aksvat, Suchi and others. It was nice disccussing with you guys

There's a quote I read which really keeps me in balance
"Appreciate something for what it is, dont hate it for what it is not"
I think jagya should appreciate sng for what it is, and not resent it for not being the ideal opportunity.
This opportunity is the golden bridge to his future career. Nobody said it was permanent.
i feel he had to quit other jobs for legitimate reasons - his ethics on female foeticide, his inability to deal with goondas etc. Its not for everyone to work in such situations, and it really requires a stomach for it.
But this reason, he should carefully think about.
However, it is easy for me to classify it as a trivial issue. But one person cant say what is trivial for another person.
If he doesnt feel it is trivial and it is something that eats away at him, then he should genuinely just quit.
In his position, I would probably see it as a partial match to my goals, and celebrate that partial match knowing that the other aspects could fall into place over time, rather than rejecting the entire opportunity altogether because it isnt a full match. But I too have learned this lesson after many years and the school of hard knocks. Jagat will have to learn through his own experiences.

I was also wondering about the same thing regarding G having 3 assistants. She was assisting and learning from another doc just recently and now she is an expert already? Well we don't know how long she has been working in the hospital to make a right assumption but out of curiosity does the medical world in India work like this?

i think all d ones under gauri r MBBS students...still pursuing...so a MS can & does supervise them...irrespective of how long u have been working in a hospital...for major surgeries d newly recruited MS assists d veterans...

It would have been much easier for both J & G, if they had a heart to heart conversation regarding the post and salary offered and how that particular post works in that hospital. Isn't it common sense to find about the post and typical reporting hierarchy from somebody before starting the work . Anyway this couple defy all logic !! The way they both withholf information from each other is like, they are two strangers living together !!
