I would just say that it was and is, all about true love.Take an example of a mother with one child who excells in academics while another who is a failure.Yes she may be strict towards the later but her love will never differ for her two kids...bcoz mother's love s the best example of true love.Similarly if jagiya had actually and truly loved Anandi he would have tried to give her the basic right of education. He would have wished to see her successful like other city girls. He would have convinced his family to take her to city with him so that he can have her company as well as he can let her complete her higher education. And I am sure this was very easy.He would have got instant support from bhairon and sumitra. And dadisa though could have been difficult to convince but she too had melt for her grandson. But he never had it in him...he never loved anandi. He was always as selfish as possible.

As for Shiv I dont think he is liking Anandi for the fact that she can speak english. If that is so then he would have loved ashi as well...she is perfect in that way...educated,rich,beautiful and so sweet. But love is not about all this.Love is a totally different feeling. As of now the respect which shiv is feeling for anandi is not bcoz she can speak English or she is a sarpanch...its bcoz what she has done despite being so young and despite all the pain she has been thru.He is floored not by her position or education...he is floored by her will, strength and endeavor.

He is rich, educated and good looking. He can easily get a girl who is much more educated than anandi...who is much more modern than her but here its not abt all these things. Its abt the confidence and inner beauty which anandi exhibits.A flower that blooms in desert is always more beautiful and precious than the one which blooms in fertile land...and this is what makes Shiv attracted towards her.

@tinoo... even if Shiv would have respected Anandi as colleague,.. etc I do not agree again, that he would not have fallen for her 5 years back.
Again he did not fall for her because she could talk well to CM or was educated. HE fell for her because of her inner qualities that were always there.

Yes so I say, he would have def. fallen for her but one difference, he would have made sure that she continued studying, and encouraged her by guiding her towards what career to choose , what college to attend etc.

Now thats the difference between shiv and jagat.

Education gives a nice touch to a person. Its like finishing school.
Anandi due to her education has gotten that extra shine but I am sorry to say education in and of itself does not do much.

An uneducated soft hearted, down to earth, sincere vegetable vendor, who cares about others and his family is much much much better than a rotten doctor like jagya with zero compassion.

Anandi is a diamond. A diamond's value increases with the number of cuts it has. More the cuts the better shine it has. Education is the cuts on Anandi. So she is shining now ...

But do you really think shiv , if he found Anandi the diamond would throw her away, or let go of her just because he could not see the shine? or would he actually make sure to keep , Anandi the diamond safe and secure and then take all possible steps to ensure that she gets the best possible cuts!?

Jagya , thought Anandi the diamond was a rock and threw her away as some normal worthless piece where as shiv would have never done that.

Totally agree with u dear...👏👏 Its like the movie sooryavansham. There too we had two girls(like two guys here)...both educated. But where at one side one of them who boasts and prides abt her education, ridicules an uneducated hira(amitabh) as unworthy of becoming her husband, whereas the other girl only sees the beautiful soul he is.She looks at him as an unexplored diamond. And the result is that one day that diamond shines so bright that the girl who once rejected him has to come to him pleading for a job for her educated husband. This is the basic difference between Shiv and Jagat.Education does not teach how to make a status symbol for urself but rather it teaches that everyone should have equal rights and the one who flourishes in adversity is a true fighter and the real winner.Thats the difference between Jagiya's and Shiv's education.Jagiya and Gauri's education only taught them to be doctors and big headed fools while Anandi and Shiv's education taught them to be good human beings.

When I started this post - I made it clear that I was not really looking at the characters, but looking at my own value system ... because I know the projections that I make on shiv-anandi and jagya-anandi are totally based on my own values.
I'm really glad that you guys gave such thoughtful replies -- particularly suchi and princess ayashika -- your last three posts helped me acquire clarity.
See, I was brought up in a very driven academic household, where academic excellence was at a premium ... not necessarily to become socially conscious or aware, but as a status symbol. Consequently, I have very high academic degrees -- but I think I never earned them through the joy of learning or the satisfaction of intellectual development -- I kept on acquiring several qualifications, and gold medals all through fear -- the fear of not being 'good enough'. However, i always knew there was something missing. Its only after I joined the BV forum, and I saw all these discussions on gauri, and her education (vs. her literacy); and Jagat belittling anandi about her lack of education that i really began to realize that my own moral compass and value systems were skewed.
Its interesting to read your posts suchi -- about what education should do -- and it should instill respect about all people as khusi said and princess ayashika, i totally agree that the issue was not anandi's lack of sophistication and polish... it was jagya's useless character because you are right that he could have taken anandi with him to the city in the beginning and begun grooming her... or encouraged her by phone even if she is living in jayetsar. He could have told bapusa that he wanted his help in upgrading anandi's education so that she would be able to interact with his colleagues.
So thank you all. I become a better person because of self-awareness. ❤️

i have a little controversial views so please dnt kill me for them..i was of the view tht jagya AND anandi both were entitled to find themselves people they genuinely loved and were compatible wid..which is the reason tht wen jagya fell for gauri, i was on his side..there were lots of things tht he was right abt at THT point of time..including tht he wanted to be wid sum1 he cud thnk of as his equal..and gauri was quite an impressive personality initially..anandi was thoroughly lost in her beendni avtar and seriously threw away quite sum oppurtunities to study and become independant..till thn i get jagya's point of view.bt his disrespect to her sacrifices, her devotion to HIS family, the injustices meted out by DS..tht is what made him the loser.. the fact tht he was cheating on both the girls made him the slime.. and his pure jealousy and insecurity wenever anandi wud be successful in sum endevour was what made him an MCP..

shiv on the other hand seems like a more secure guy..he dsnt have issues taking or accepting help frm anandi or acknowledging that she is talented..he likes her for her behaviour wid others, her presence of mind and her zeal to prove herself..these same qualities were what made jagya get threatened by her..shiv did get impressed by anandi's education and her english, bt jagya on the other hand had made fun of her wen she had attempted the same to please HIM, thinking tht she was lacking in these matters..jagya is a blocking stone in any female's progress, be it anandi or gauri, whereas shiv seems to be a stepping stone..THT is how they are different..

If Jagiyya had not thrown temper-tantrum about Anandi studying...she would have become ISA or even a super specialist (if she went in medical field) by now... I want Anandi to get a PhD in near future.

When A did so well in her SSC exams and got top scores J had thrown a fit. He did not appreciate the fact that A did so well in her studies. It hurted his ego that his wife is smarter compared to him.

imagine if he had been at a friend's family party and his mom had come there, he would most likely have been 'disgusted' by his mom's lack of english and desipan too...because its not about his wife's qualities or lack of, its how he wants to be percieved in his circle.

its natural that in a couple there are always things that you wish were different or better. but how you resolve that is the true test of a man or a woman. you can do what jagya does, which is to berate, insult , abuse and misuse or you can do what bairon does, which is to encourage, explain and gently lead in the right direction. i bet that if shiv had known the anandi 5 years ago, he would still have seen her true worth, always given her respect, never wud he have been disgusted by her and he wud gently encouraged her to fly, not clip her wings and then taunt her about it like jagya did.

Really well explained! 😊
