I would like to add something to the discussion.
I have heard that during periods , our body tempature increases . So we shouldn't do anything that will increase the body temperature further which will eventually lead to health problems . So it is better to avoid getting exposed to heat and fire . So avoid cooking or entering the kitchen .
For the same reason , certain pranayama practises which increases the body heat must not be done while having periods .
So these restrictions were imposed for good reasons only

@ rgattu, I'd like to add further on why there used to be celebrations when a girl starts her period. This was also a very effective way of communicating that there is a girl ready for marriage in that household. That brings us back to the prime subject of this forum, child marriage... Girls had to be married off once they attain puberty, if not any sooner. This being the norm back then, such celebration was mandatory to attract prospective grooms.
@lakshmim_84, I'm sure a lot of girls would have got plenty of gifts, but not me. My parents barely mentioned it to anyone, my mum had prepared me in advance as to what to expect. It was pretty smooth and easy, no fuss at all. I find that these days a lot of them handle it very practically.

ewww bio!and that too all human!!! please dont be offended but that was my first reaction after going through every post in order to patch with the discussion and show.😆😆😆its just that all bio stuff and all the associated words are beyond my reach and as a bouncer all flies over my skull without touching anything.thats the pshycological prob am carrying since past few years🤣🤣🤣
but than getting to know, added the extra required knowlege good that i went through it😛 all made sense what dint was after seeing that epi vid the way daadi sa reacts and the very outdated thinking!dadi sa too is a woman and she too went through the same phase and here she is reacting that way!untouchability and everything!!!isnt she being the most matured and experienced one by now show have actually reacted in moreee mature way.its the same means the same mind set which cannot be changed no matter putting any no. days or years or whatever! its set to work in just one direction and nothing else.

but word to word agree with smritz hats off to the creatives for dealing with this phase as well and showing the even now faced problems with girls and the old thinkings and how a girl is being isolated and everything.great effort by the creatives/production team to outcast everything and help in spreading awareness, they are doing everything so thoughroughly👏👏👏 now thats what defines a clear cut success for the show⭐️⭐️

Anandis question and worring were so genuine one.reminds me of a little incident narrated once when i was too young dont rem exacts but she(the narrater, she was my elder sis friend, dont rem name just the face is flashing right now and too is bluryyy😆) she was laughing recalling her first day.she was so horror stuck that she took whole shool on her head!she cried her lungs out and was totally horror stuck.everyone teachers and sister(princi) tried to explain her and calm her down but all she did was threw her fists and warned them to stay away from her because she was going to die and then she broke down crying even more.the way she narrated everything everyone joined her laughing and mostly it was all she her holding her stomach and barking a loud laugh🤣it made all sense after seeing anandi how she faced her first time! but honestly not entering kitchen and temples are moreee custom and religion based instead of any biological or any justifiable reason and thats what was shown about how anandi was treated by daadi.

well, what someone said about pickles is wrong cause In our school a workshop was held and we were told that we could eat anything,we could enter the kitchen.but here(my home) only one thing is followed,we can't enter the puja room.
