It is sad to see that Anandi?s father is so caught up with customs that he cant save his little girl from a fate she is wilting in. Why cant men be men? I was happy to see A?s mother being understanding and not wanting to send A back to her sasural. She is trying her best to reason with her husband. But he!!!!!!!!! Stooped in tradition, he wants to send her back. ?What will become of her after us?..., Who will take care of her since she is the only child? ?. Will her fate become like the teacher?s?? Instead of addressing the pertinent questions like a man he wants to take shelter in the usual done thing. Why cant men be men? His only child Anandi is petrified of facing that daadi yet he feels nothing in throwing her back into the quicksand. He tells his daughter ?.sorry?. orders her to return to her new household because there is no place for her in his house now. Isn?t there any fear in his heart that he will be pushing her back into a place which she considers to be hell? Why cant men be men? Why cant he educate Anandi and make her self-sufficient? Why cant he be a trailblazer instead? Wont his soul feel satisfied?
In the other household, Anandi?s f-i-l is facing some problems too. He is better than A?s dad though. But he cant be firm with his mother. She uses every gimmick in the book to make him feel guilty. He feels hesitant to say anything in case Daadi feels offended. He knows Daadi is wrong and unnecessarily harsh with Anandi but still cant do much for her. He is torn betw tradition and wanting to bring about a change. Why cant he deal with his mother in a way that is firm but not rude? He is a good man. But the question remains?..Why cant men be men?
Lets hope Jags becomes man enough to protect his sweet bride later on. Infact that is exactly what Daadi is fearing. She is actually worried that her word will no longer be the law. But then someone said Jags is going to die. Boy this is pathetic!!!!
Anandi, c?mon you brave little girl ---- show the world the stuff you are made of. I wish you all the fun and laughter in the world.
