Ram after his conversation with Juhi, moves towards his bedroom.. On his way, he stands outside Pihu's room for a minute, then nods his head in negation and enters his room.
Priya in her nightwear, lost in the wall picture of them both with Pihu (Jaipur one). Ram holds Priya's shoulders from behind and asks her 'What are you thinking, Priya'. Priya brushes off the lone tear from her eye and replies, 'Kuch nahi, Mr.Kapoor, just wondering how did the the time fly so fast' and continues
P - I talked to Juhi, Mr. Kapoor and apologised for my behaviour.
R - I know Priya, but kyon, I never asked you to apologise.
P- haan Mr.Kapoor, but my behaviour caused you trouble and created friction between you & children. You already had trouble with children because of me, I don't want to be any more of a problem for you..
R - listen Priya.. Why do you talk like this, you can never be a problem to me, you are the reason I live.. How could you even think like this..
Ram takes her hand is his, keenly looks into her eyes and continues,
R - Priya, I am sorry for the way I talked to you infront of Pihu & Juhi, I don't mean to make you feel upset, when I heard you telling Juhi that it is our family matter and she should not interfere, I felt bad, because I know how much Juhi had done for our children.. But I don't want you to ever apologise to anyone, you are not aware of what happened in the past seven years and it is my responsibility to make you aware and if anyone has to apologise, I will do it..
P - but, why Mr. Kapoor, I had done the mistake and I should apologise. Why should you do it?
R - Priya, I felt bad because I never heard you talk to anyone like this before.. But, I do understand that if you had reacted so strongly, there must be a strong reason to it.. Neither Juhi not anyone else has the right to interfere between you & our children.. But it is our house and if any member of the household gets hurt, it is our responsibility to ensure that they don't remain hurt, that's why I said I will apologise.. Moreover, I can't see you apologising to anyone. I never ever want to see apologising to you anyone, is it clear?
Priya nods her head with teary eyes..
R - ok, lets close this topic and move on.. Priya, can't you share with me what's going on between you & Pihu.. I felt, she had been very disrespectful to you, I did want to confront her about her behaviour, but first I would like to know what is the issue from you.. See.. I had been a single parent for so many years, may be I failed in educating them with some values, I had always thought Pihu as a responsible and well behaved girl, but if you see any problem with her, do tell me sothat we can handle it together..
P - Mr. Kapoor, woh.. (Priya is reluctant)
Ram persisting..
R - Priya, i know, you woudn't have questioned her today without a valid reason. What exactly she did to warrant your scolding?
P - woh, Mr. Kapoor, Suhaani was very upset with Pihu today.. Looks like Pihu had been very insulting to her today.. (Priya gives a gist of Pihu-Sammy's teasing of Suhaani). And Mr. Kapoor, this is not the first time, it happened. Both Sammy & Pihu had been mean to Suhaani for quite some time now..
Ram with little anger in his voice - this is totally unacceptable.. And Sammy seems to be a bad influence on Pihu.. You know Priya, that boy used to be so nice & quiet, and these days he has changed completely.. I will talk to Vikram and make sure he is occupied properly sothat he doesn't hand around with Pihu too much..
Ram is still lamenting..
R - I just can't believe, Pihu could behave this way, I am so sorry Priya, looks like my upbringing made her snobbish.. Let's do one thing Priya, we will talk to her together and make her realise this kind of behaviour is unacceptable..
P - But. Mr. Kapoor... I think, if you talk to her about it, she will feel that I had complained to you and it may create more gap between us. Give me some time, Mr. Kapoor, I will try to make her understand on my own..
R - but, Priya I am her father, and when she goes in a wrong way, it is my responsibility too to make her realise her mistakes..
P - what you are saying is right in the normal circumstances Mr. Kapoor. But the situation is not the same as before, I am trying to reestablish my bond with her, and I don't want her to mistrust me for any reason..
Ram thinks for a while and
R - ok. Priya, you handle it in your own way this time, but promise me one thing, any problem, you will share it with me, is it ok..
P - Ok, Mr, Kapoor, I promise..
Ram gives a slight apologetic smile,
R - One suggestion Priya, Pihu is not a teenager any more, I guess the same methods you used for handling her before won't work with her anymore.. Try to be more friendly with her instead of being imposing..
Priya looks at him with shock..
R - Priya, don't looks at me like this, I am not saying you are wrong.. I am just pointing out the difference, and you had been handling students of Pihu's age group for so many years.. even choti was of the same age when we got married.. You had done an excellent job in handling your students and choti.. I am sure you can do the same with Pihu too.. But, just remember, she is no more an adolescent, but an adult,.
Priya with a deep sigh,
P - yeah Mr, Kapoor.. I understand.. Sometimes, it is tough for me to realise that seven years passed in between..
Ram puts an arm around her..
R - Priya, it is not your fault that you lost seven years of their life.. It is an unfortunate incident.. Ok, just cheer up now,. I am here to help with you anything.. Just be positive, everything will come around..
Priya nods with a slight smile..
R - ok, now let me go & freshen up.. You get into the bed, I will join you in a while..
Ram moves towards the changing room, and then turns back to Priya,
R - Priya..
P - Ji?
R - I am so glad that you are back.. My worry about our children has completely gone now.. I know, with your guidance, they will become wonderful human beings..
Ram & Priya smile at each other..
