Guyz, last ep made me think about the necessity of good side characters and obviously supporting actors, for a show to move forward. The way they are handled along with the leads surely lend a good amount of flow to the story and the show.
So here I am, with my posts on other characters in BALH apart from RaYa and my two cents on them.
Vikram - We all have loved this man with all our hearts for being such a lovely support system to our Ram. Dosti ho toh Ram-Vikram jaisi, is what I infer after witnessing their bond. Here is a man so selfless in his friendship with his best friend that the first thing he does after the party-fiasco is rush to Ram coz "He is hurt". A perfect family man, a good husband, a great dad; still, all the hurt of going through a dead relationship masked perfectly under all these roles. Last ep, I just wanted to run and give him a tight bear hug to comfort him. The way he sat with a drink in one hand and eyes about to leak, spoke the intense pain this man is going through.
Jai has owned this role as if he was born to be Vikram to Ram. Kudos to the actor for being able to hold his ground in front of RK. His easy bonding with his co-actors, Ram, Sakshi and Tarana makes for a lovely Foursome we fell for in BALH 1. 👏
Love you Jai for making Vikram so endearing. You rock the role!!👍🏼
Neha - The official bubbly of BALH (I love to call her that) has turned into a woman caught in a messy situation in her marriage. Her concern for her kids, the care for Vikram, the pain of seeing her paradise getting shattered in front of her eyes and standing there helplessly is too much to handle. Upar se, Ram and Priya's situation is adding to her already long list of problems. Still, the woman is holding the fort and how! The way she reacted during the Divorce revelation in the party speaks volume about the amount of pain she is going through.
Tarana is very well handling the transition from the bubbly, chirpy Neha to a woman going through difficult times in her marriage. Absolutely Loved her in the last ep. as well as the last Thurs ep.👏
Natasha - I always had a soft spot for this character since day 1. She was bratty, spoilt and crazy; everything but selfish. But her greatest strength was and still is, that like her bhai, she truly loves with all her heart. I specially love the way she has taken to Sudhir coz he was a parent to her and the only sane one whom she could look for some support, apart from Kartik. He was never mean to her unlike Shipra and A. She made mistakes and he, instead of flaring up, tried to find the reasons behind those mistakes.
Natasha is one character who has matured with the story and the ONLY one who has progressed from Season 1 to season 2. She started as a spoilt brat and now turned into an independent woman who runs her family as smoothly as her business and has learnt to value relationships. This character truly reflects the modern Indian woman, who are human enough to make mistakes and human enough to learn from them.
Sumona has improved and HOW! Her scenes with RK are a treat to watch. She holds her ground in those scenes and make you sit up and take notice of her. Hats-off to this amazing actor. She has defo learnt from her company (read, Ram and Sakshi)
Sudhir - The ideal dad. He is understanding. He is a thinker. He is patient. Moreover, he has been married to Shipra for the last how many decades and has still managed to keep his SANITY. 😉That speaks quite a lot about this character. 😆Love the way he bonds with his family.
He is a friend to Priya, he is an understanding father-in-law to Natasha. He is a trusting FIL to Ram. He is a loving Nanu to his grandkids. And, yes, he is a great duct tape to his loud wife with his "Shipraaa".😆
Prithvi Sankhla is apt for his role as Sudhir. He lends a sense of respect to Sudhir. Applause for him.👏
Shipra - I know, you guys might doubt my sanity for including her in the 'People I love' list. Trust me, I don't love her per say. Just that keeping myself in her shoes at the moment, I am able to look at her predicament a bit clearly.😕
She has always been loud and materialistic, hailing A and not bothering much about Priya. But then, she never thought bad about her elder daughter. Remember, she was the one who took her home from the hospital? Yes, she said those infamous, "Dost se badhkar", "Ram aage badh gaya hai" and "Tu Dubai chali ja" But I really wanna believe that it was not because she wanted Priya to go away. It was only coz she is in a tight spot and dangling between her two daughters, as Priya said. She only wants happiness for them both but the irony of the situation is such that only one daughter can be happy at a time. Since Priya came back, she is in a turmoil. A asked her to take sides and her actions are all indicating to this growing turmoil. Yet, never once did she supported A or agreed to her. Last ep also, she was disapproving of the way A talked to Nutz and preferred going to SH and be with her family.👍🏼
And the fact that she made it to this list is only coz she is not yet siding with Ayesha. The day she sides with the evil, she'll be kicked out of this list, I promise!😉
Renuka Israni is a good actor. But I don't know whether it's either because of her acting or because the character has been sketched as such that I find Shipra really annoying.
Running out of time. Will add on other characters in a while!
Added later
Kady - I love this character the most among the newest entries. Such a fresh and lovable girl she is!! A bubbly teenager who is a support to Priya and an elder sis to Pihu. Love the way her character is etched till now. Hope to see her more along with Pihu in planning ways to bring Ram and Priya closer.
Ashima has been really good as Kady till now. She has been constantly improving with whatever she has been assigned. It's a great honour to be working with stalwarts like Ram and Sakshi in her very first show and the girl is definitely doing good work.
Dadi - This is one character with great potential, which is terribly underutilized by CVs. 😡She is merely used as a prop and brought out as an old family heirloom on special occasions. She could have been used effectively in Nih unmasking plan by Priya (however childish it was). But she is merely reduced to a lovable and mandatory old lady of the house who is there to mouth "Oye Golu" and "Oye Bansi.. khoteya"
Terribly underutilized!
Rajinder ji is really cute as Dadi. Hope to see her more with Pihu and Khush.😊
Krishna Kapoor - Another character gone for a toss! Such a dignified character used as another prop. I have seen so less of her in BALH, sply BALH2 that I don't know how to analyse this character. I sooo wanted to see a KK-RK re-union but it remained a dream with the leap. Hoping against hope that we get a proper re-union flashback of the mother-son duo.
Krishnaji is a mature and intelligent character and I simply love her for teaching her DIL and Son the simple ways of combating stress and problems in life using that 'Cold Cream' and 'Perfume' funda.👍🏼 Hope we get to see her understanding Ram, being a support system to him and Priya, a loving Dadi to Pihu and giving it back to Mamaji and A for being leeches!! (And I fervently pray that she is NOT given such lame and useless dialogues like Punjabi Khana ever again!!!!)🤢
Madhu Raja is another good actor who is saddled with a good-but-merely-a-prop character. The lady brings grace to her character. Kudos to her.👏
Soumya - Currently she is doing a 'Gayab' act in the show. 😕Blame the CVs. They introduce new characters and then leave them hanging midway. I see her as a positive character and fervently wish to see her back and join forces with Nutz to give it back to A.😈
She is one intelligent soul in the whole KM who can speak her head to Ram w/o being rebuffed (atleast, this is what has been hinted till now) I Hope she acts a coolant in KM. I want her back in KM to keep A at bay after the Patrani makes an entry in the house. She'll ensure some RaYa time, I think.😉
Deepti is an OK actor, IMO. Till now she has been portrayed as a bubbly-with-brains character. Hope she comes back soon.
Mamaji - A freeloader but much better than A!! Atleast he provides a few laughs!! 😆Mamaji is one character that I really want in the show till the time A is in the show. I can only bear her with Mamaji sharing the screen space.🤢 His muft gyaan is hardly acknowledged but the man never stops, does he? 😆Hoping against hope that he pulls a fast one on A while she is downhill. Will serve her good! 😈(I know, I am being mean here but then, it's A we are talking about!!! Grrr😡)
Deepak Qazir is one BT veteran who has been there, done that in Ekta land. His comic timing is great and he single handed carries the Mama-A scene. So, kudos to him for that! 👏
