Ram scanned through the file for the umpteenth time. His shook his head again. Are you serious? You want me to follow this?
Priya looked at Ram again, this had been going on for half an hour now. Ram, even if you ask me a 100 times, my answer is a yes. This is what she has designed for you...
Ram: Stop using fancy words, design and all. I am not abiding by this, never.
Priya: But Ram you promised me.
Ram: No way, i did not promise you anything, i said we shall see after meeting her and (Ram waved the file in front of Priya) this is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would want to do this?
Priya: Well for starters this is the best dietician in the country we are talking about and after the latest health reports we mutually decided that we would do it.
Ram: I said we shall see...and look at this...no red meat, no oily stuff, only 1 paratha and that too once a week. I have eaten Parathas all my life, people in the village eat a lot more ghee and oil than i do, i havent seen any harm coming to them.
Priya: The same people in the village toil hard the whole day in their farms and do not sit in their AC offices all day long.
Ram was silent for a moment...
Priya: Ram, its important for your health to reduce that weight of yours. Its an open invitation for a lot of problems.
Ram: Priya enough...i am not going to do this at any cost and that's the end of discussion. Ram walked off..
Priya picked up the file and was lost in thoughts.
In the Evening
Peehu and her friend Riya are talking
Riya: Did you see the latest Batman movie?
Peehu: No, dad says i am too young for it we went to see Ice Age instead.
Riya: Ohh but i have seen batman..
Peehu's eyes grew wide. Your dad allowed it?
Riya: My dad is super cool, he tells me not to be afraid of anything. He is the strongest.
Peehu: No my dad is the strongest...
Riya: My dad is exactly like superman..you know superman is the strongest.
Peehu: My dad too, he is very strong...
Riya laughed out allowed: Your Dad? How can your dad be superman?
Peehu frowned: Why not?
Riya: Are stupid Supermans are fit and can do anything. Your dad can only be Santa Claus..and she continued laughing..
Meanwhile Riya's mother called her and she went home.
Priya: Peehu brush your teeth and we shall be off to sleep.
Peehu: Mama...dad is a superman right?
Priya: Yaa beta, he is our superman...
Peehu: But Riya's dad is also superman and there cant be 2 superman's na?
Priya looked at Peehu thinking of an answer.
Peehu: Its ok mama, dad can be Santa Claus. He is fun too, let Riya's dad be superman..Saying this Peehu went off to brush her teeth...
Priya came into the room and was surprised to find Ram already asleep. She looked at the time 9 30...she had never seen Ram sleep so early. She gently touched his forehead, his temperature seemed all right. Must be tired she thought.
Priya woke up in the morning to find that Ram had already woken up. She again looked at the watch, 6 30 it read. Priya sat straight. Whats happening, Ram and awake so early in the morning and that too on a Sunday. She rubbed her eyes and made way to the washroom. In a few minutes Priya was downstairs.
Ram was seated on the dinning table adorned in a jogging suit which had sweat marks all over it. Priya looked surprised, Ram went out jogging? Something is definitely not right. She went and sat beside Ram who was reading the newspaper.
Priya: Ram..
Ram looked up: Hey Good Morning..
Priya: Is everything all right?
Ram: Yes, all good.
Priya: Did you go jogging?
Ram: Not jogging exactly but yes a brisk walk was more like it.
Before Priya could comment Bansi Kaka arrived with Ram's breakfast. It consisted of fruits and one small paratha without any ghee. Priya's eyes widened looking at the spread.
Priya: Ram, you are going to eat this?
Ram: Yes Priya and as if to prove it Ram sunk his teeth into the apple.
Priya looked down and smiled.
Suddenly there was a lot of commotion in the hall. Both Ram and Priya looked and saw that there men bringing in large packages. Ram got up..
Sir, we have brought all that you have ordered, where do we install it?
Ram: Yes, thanks, ill show you where to set it up..just follow me.
Neha comes in just then.
Neha: Hey Priya...
Priya: Hi Neha
Neha: What's all this? Dont tell me you are going somehwhere.. Ram called me up early morning i dont know for what
Priya: I have no idea Neha...I guess we will get to know from Ram soon...
In some time Ram came downstairs.
Ram: Ladies if you' ll can come up and provide your expert comments...
Priya and Neha followed Ram.
Ram opened a room and led them inside.
Priya and Neha walked in to see a fully functional gymnasium albeit with treadmill, ellipticals, weights and everything...
Neha: Ram..this is good but for whom?
Ram's face fell. What do you mean for whom, for me afcourse.
Neha: You...you mean you will be gyming ?
Ram: Yes sweetheart, i would be gymning...
Neha: And may i ask the reason for the sudden turn towards fitness...
Ram: You have to Neha, you know fitness is very important to all. You should be fit and fine for you and for your family and there can only be one superman...that's me...
I ll just get the bills cleared with the guys downstairs...
Neha and Priya burst out laughing...
Neha: Hats off to you Priya...you managed to get him to do that...What a plan...
Priya: I knew he would never listen no matter how many times i would have told him, so i unleashed my secret weapon...
Neha: Yaa, i must say you have a super cute but lethal weapon...but still it was a risk you took.. I mean lucky that Ram heard Peehu and Riya that day..
Priya: Well i had timed it to perfection and rest of the plan was foolproof so i was pretty sure it would work...After all there can only be one Superman!!!
