Part 23:

Suddenly, Priya sees some moment under the dried leaves at long distance from her. The silver color shines in between the yellow color of dried leaves. It moves out from the cover of leaves making its appearance visible to Priya. Ram stands facing in the opposite direction, completely unaware of its presence, near the compound wall few steps away from Priya. They all stand at coordinates of 90 degree triangle. The serpent starts raising its head from the ground, now clearly visible.

Priya: (In low voice) Mr. Kapoor 'Simba' aa gaya hain. Look here.

Ram turns around, 'Mujhe aatey waqt dekayi nahi diya' confusedly.

Priya: Who yahi pe tha, issliye aapko nahi pata chala. Toh yeh aapka pet hain. (Ram gets numb, looking at the snake there.)

Priya: Iss liye wild life kay baarey mein itani badhai maar rahain the.

His eyes remain wide open as he looks open mouthed at the sight of the snake sitting still, raising his head from the ground at few yards away from them. His heart skips a beat realizing the horror.

Ram: How could she be so nave! (Clenches his fists tightly in agitation) 'Saap' ko 'PET' samajh rahi hain.(Hisses)

Priya: Amazing! Unbelievable! (Still in disbelief that she is seeing a real one, looking at the shining color of it)

To Ram's horror his wife is not showing signs of trying to run away from it as far as possible which would have been a normal reaction to this situation.

Ram: Jo tum samajh rahi ho, who yeh nahi hain.(Speaks in low voice while he walks stealthily but carefully)

Before he could think anything more he just wants to run as fast as he could in the direction of his wife but avoids so that the animal does not get perturb.

Priya: Mr. Kapoor jaldise kuch kijiye, aapkay liye 'It's Your Pet' but for me 'It's a snake!'(Observing the snake which is sitting calmly, she quivers with fear)

Ram: Priya…Priya…(In low voice, approaching near her)

Priya: Kuch kahan kya aapne? (She speaks staring at the snake)

Ram reaches near her, stands besides her. Now both of them stand facing the snake. The snake keeps looking at both by moving its raised head. Ram tries to be friendly with the snake by greeting it with a suppressed smile,

Ram: (Putting his arm around Priya's shoulder he pulls her close to him) Humein bhaagna hoga! (Looking at the snake he continues to smile)

Priya: (In shock cries trying to suppress her voice) Oh God! Mujhe thoda shaq hua he tha kay bhalaa yeh 'PET' kaise ho sakta hai. Par mein itani der boley jaa rahi hun aap kuch bolteybhi nahi. (Trembling)

Ram: Don't argue. Waise bhi humdononay inka bahot time waste kiya hain. So just run with me.

(Standing side by side they continue to talk, the snake doesn't move a bit from its place)

Priya: Aur agar hum bhaagnay laggey aur yeh peechey aa gaye toh?

Ram: When I will say run, you have to run as fast as you can with me towards the car. Iss liye mein tumharey pass aakar khada hua hun taaki koi problem na ho.

Priya: (Staring at the snake) I don't know…par mujhe aapka yeh idea kuch theek nahi lag raha hain.(Nervously)

Ram: For God's sake Priya…tumhe baad mein jitani arguments meray saath karni hain karo. Right now just do it. (Irritatingly)

Since last few minutes, the moment her eyes fell on it her heart is beating faster than normal. But as she stood there looking at it, she felt like it's nothing harmful about it.

Priya: Wait…I think, I know something. Mr. Kapoor who protects us in difficult times?

Ram: (Nearly crying) are you alright? aise time pe KBC khel rahi ho.Dekho agar aur ek minute kay andar tum meray saath nahi aayi toh, mujhe tumhe godi mein uthakar bhaagna hoga. I am serious this time.

The snake remains still there, like enjoying their banter.

She feels like 'After all this animal is not showing any signs of aggression towards them. Instead of that it's just watching them peacefully.' She tries to make her mind calm to think better, she speaks in exhilarating voice, putting her palms of hands together in prayer position.

Priya: Om Namah Shivaya! Mr. Kapoor appbhi meray saath kahiye...Om Namah Shivaya! (Bowing down her head slightly)

Ram: (Helplessly he follows her) Om Namah Shivaya! (Putting his palms of hands together in prayer position, bowing down his head slightly)

They stand in front of the snake in the next few minutes the snake spreads its hood little bit wider as if in response to their gesture towards it & finally it touches the ground to move away in opposite direction.

Ram: (In low voice) Priya …aakhein kholo! Dekho! He is going away…(Priya opens her half closed eyes)

The snake takes twisted turns as it goes away from them, after reaching at a far away distance from them it turns around its head in their direction, swings its upper body as if nodding happily for whatever gesture they offered to it before it gets completely vanished.

Priya: Shivji ki krupa! Unohoney humari raksha ki. (Looking upwards in the sky thanks to God) Aapney dekha unhoney jaaney se peheley kahan 'Don't worry & be happy'. Aise lagga kay humein aashirvad diya.

Ram: Nahi meiney toh kuch sunna nahi. Lekin sacchi mein yeh sab 'Connections' hotey hai kya? Mujhe abhi bhi yakeen nahi ho raha hain abhi kuch der peheley jo kuch hua. Agar kuch hota toh.

(Takes her in his embrace) I am sorry. It's absolutely my fault. Itani raat ko mujhe tumhey yahanpe lekay nahi aana chahiye tha. (Hugs her tightly, she hugs him back with equal ecstasy)

Priya: Shayad issiko 'Instinct' kahetey hain..mein bhi kuch der darr gayi thi. I don't know much about whether the enigmatic theories about the connections in between the world, the things which makes this world & the creator of the world do exist or not. But I do have a faith that God has blessed me with a person like you by our marital connection & if he has taken so much care of us till date, he will surely protect our love connection always.

Ram: Hummm interesting! Someone is doing all wise talks (Smiles, feels good hearing his wife's theory of their love) But I would have run away & sit in the car.

Priya: Par aaplog saalonse jungli jaanvarose kheltey aaye ho, usska kya hua.

Ram: Accha who mein aisehe. (Before he completes his sentence)

They hear the sound of some movement at the entrance gate. They turned around their heads to look at there.

Priya: Abb kaun aaya hain? (Glancing at the gate)

Ram: I think, I know this one…Come on baby (Ram shouts)

The barking sound follows by a thud as the dog entered inside the garden jumping from the compound wall. He came running swiftly towards Ram as Ram looks in his direction.

Ram: Simba…baby! Hurry up!

Priya: Toh yeh hain Simba! (Looking at the golden brown German shepherd approaching them)

Ram nods happily in agreement as he bends down to pat Simba. Simba shows all the signs of happiness the dog would show after meeting his master after a long time. Ram also showered his affection on his pet. Priya sees the bond between Ram & Simba admiringly. Finally Simba starts moving in a circular path around Ram-Priya. He jumps, wagging his tail playfully.

Ram: See…how happy is he! He always does like that.

Priya: I think he misses you a lot.

Ram: Haa. Sahi pehechana tumney. But I can't help it. Mummy hates him a lot.

Priya: Kaun Niharika aunty? (Amusedly) How? I mean he is so adorable.

Ram: Hummm! Actually Simba attacked on her twice at KM. Not her fault.

Priya: Matlab Simba peheley KM mein rahainta tha?

Ram: Haa, 5 saal peheley chhoti ussey ghar mein lekar aayi thi.Kuch din dil behel jaaney kay baad Chhoti apany life mein busy ho gayi. Par yeh meray saath kuch zyaadahe kareeb ho gaya.

Priya: Kya kabhi kisssi aur pe bhi Simbaney kabhi attack kiya tha?

Ram: Nahi yaar, he is my good boy. Sab kay saath pyaarse behave karta hain. Tumhe pata chal jaayega.

Priya enjoys the way Ram continues to do baby talk with Simba. They hear the sound of a bike.

The gate opens and the couple comes inside, riding on a bike.

Ram: Yeh aaya Laxman. Dekho tumharey aaneyse peheley Simba aa gaya.

Laxman: Kya batau bhai, do minute ghar mein rukaney kay liye tayyar nahi tha subahse. Kuch der peheley toh aise bhaaga hain gharse, hum log samjajh gaye kay aap gharpe aa pahochey ho.

Ram: Haa, who network ki problem thi, iss liye meiney dusra tarika use kiya. Laggta hai yahan network kay liye,tower daalney kay liye kahena hoga.

Priya: Aur ropeway bhi daal dijiye na, aaney jaaney mein pareshaani nahi hogi. (All of them burst into laughter after hearing this)
