PART 3

Ram remembered that he had promised his Dadi that he would meet her that evening but he was not in a mood to go home at all. Meeting with the step family and acting as if nothing was different in the way he saw them was getting very difficult. Each of them ' his step mom, her brother, Sid and Ishika- were constant reminders of the beautiful life that he had lost. And he knew that the minute he entered the house his step mother and her brother would start on their rant about how Priya had ruined his life and that it was great that she had exited it without changing him too much. As it got closer to the evening he began to dread going back to Kapoor mansion when an idea struck him. He immediately called rishab and asked him to bring Dadi to Lalaji's Kothi and warned him that no one at home should know about where they were going.

Driving down to the kothi was itself a very soothing experience for Ram. It was a drive that he enjoyed as he knew that the destination was a place that held fond memories for him and that there were no people there who would constantly act as if they were concerned when in fact they were the exact opposite. As he neared the kothi, his hand automatically reached for the paper in his suit pocket and he felt a sense of relief almost instantaneously. The letter that Priya had written was his only tangible link to her and he felt a sense of belonging when he so much so as touched the letter that he did not feel even looking at her photograph. Every time he felt the worn edges of the paper' he had read the letter many 1000s of times by now and knew it by heart ' he could feel the love laden gaze of Priya on him.

Even as he entered the driveway, he saw rishab and dadi getting out of the car. The three of them entered the kothi and Ram immediately made his way to the study' that was where he had last taken pictures of Priya smiling and the room was one that was filled with the warmth of her laughter and beautiful smile. Dadi and Rishab followed him looking anxious. "Arrey Golu puttar, yeh kyah? Kyon hame yahan pe bhulaye aur tumne kaha kissi ko bhi nahi batana? Kya hua beta, sab theek toh hai'. Arrey yeh kya hai? Priya ki itne sare photo aur yahan pe!!! Golu' Golu' Golu ' Arrey golu kuch toh bolo!!"

Rishab too was standing dumb struck ' there were over a hundred pictures of Priya, in different sizes and colors but all of them had one thing in common ' in each and every one of them she was smiling and the love she felt for Ram was clearly obvious to anyone who could see. It was Rishab's "BHAI" that cut through Ram's reverie and he turned slowly to look at the two people in his family he could trust to keep a secret.

"Dadi... aap batiye yahan. Main sab batata hoon. Rishab tum bhi baito." Rishab was truly surprised by the drastic change in Ram's body language. Ever since Priya had left Ram, all one got to see was the curt, almost acerbic Ram who did not show any emotions ' hate, love, anger, disappointment, nothing at all- to anyone. To see this soft and very emotional side of a brother whom he loved and looked up to was indeed a revelation for Rishab. He had thought that he had lost that brother forever with Priya leaving.

Ram started pacing again and after a few minutes asked " Dadi.. aap mujhse baat karna chahte the na.. kya baat hai?" But dadi was too caught up in the photographs around the room. She kept staring at Ram and the photos and finally said "Ab main kya bhi nahi bol sakthi. Main yeh soch rahi thi ki tumhara phir se ghar basa loon thaki main chain se jaa sakthi hoon.. lekin tum tho Priya ki khayalon me itne doob gaye ho ki meri bolti hi band ho gayee. Kya hai yeh sab puttar? Itne dino se sab kah rahe hai ki tum Priya se nafrath karthe ho aur tum kush the uske chali jane par. Par yeh sab kya? Mujhe kuch samaj nahi aa raha hai. Agar tum itne pyaar karte ho Priya se, kyon janne diya use?" Ram could see the very same questions in Rishab's eyes too.

He sat down on the sofa and said "dadi kya maine aap se kabhi kaha ki main kush hoon Priya ke jane se? Maine?" immediately dadi said "Nahi golu, tum ne toh kabhi nahi bola, lekin jab sab log bol rahe the tum chup toh the? Iss ka kya matlab?"

So what do you'll think? worth continuing i am thinking... but will wait for your takes.

Beautiful and sensible. You have your logic placed right. The way this FF is moving is really exciting.

You pen down situations beautifully.

Hope Dadi and Rishabh have a meatier role in your FF than just being pieces of furniture like in the show.
