You liked Aastha's intro ? Good....I dont as a matter of fact....I would have liked my FF's heroine to be a lil more badmaash and shaitaan....but the real Aastha's character is soooooo goody-goody that I dont want to change the character in the FF out of fear that people wont accept her .....😭.....so I needed Nupur as a foil.....oops....Nupur's not arrived yet , has she !

I want to keep Pri....but I dont know where I'm going to re-introduce her....

So its been ages since an update....but I've been really busy with school and everything sooo....besides , I'll be inactive for a considerable duration of time...from December 5 -22 , then Jan 2 - 22 and then I'll be inactive for the whole of Feb and March ...so I'll be doing as many updates as I can within this week , so 2 chapters today , possibly one tomorrow , and thats it .

Chapter 3 - Part I

Los Angeles Airport

"Your attention please , British Airways flight no 301/A to London is boarding . Passengers please proceed to Gate no 7 for your security check . Thank you "

Samrat lowered his head after listening to the announcement and shrugged his shoulders . "So , I guess...its goodbye " . He hugged Shubh and then Mayank and then the trio did their "huddle" - it was their special 'guy' thing , an external manifestation of their close bond . Shubh grinned at Sam and said " Chal Sammy ...pehle game mein sabse zyaada baskets tere hone chahiye " . Sam nodded back at him and then both of them turned to Mayank , who was looking rather dejected .

Sam[melodramatically] : Mayoo....rona mat dost....its only a matter of a few days *pretends to wipe his eyes*...I'll miss you too , ...theek se khaana-peena , acche se padhna...aur doosre ladkiyon ke saath flirt mat karna....warna Nupur to bura lagega

Mayank[smiling] : Chup kar nautanki....ghadi ghadi drama karta hai...aur by the way , mujhe Mayoo sirf Mom bulaati hai ...[hi-fives with Sam] ...take care dude , dont wanna see you warming the bench in the matches instead of playing

Shubh : Abhi to sirf Aunty Mayoo bulaati hai-

Sam[continues] : Shaadi ke baad Nupur bhi bulaayegi !!!

Shubh and Sam burst out laughing , while Mayank tries to control his laughter .

Shubh : Arre Sam...dekh kitna laal par gaya apna Mayank....oh gosh , why did you say 'Nupur' Sam ? Nupur BHABHI bolna chahiye tha.....

"I repeat , passengers to London travelling by British Airways flight no 301/A , please proceed to Gate No.7 for your security check"

It was as if a dampener had been cast on their laughter . For some moments , they had forgotten that this time only two would be leaving - it had seemed to them just like another of their carefree Cambridge days ...to other people , it wasnt as big a deal as it was to the three of them . Others used to think , and say " What's the big deal ? Your friend Samrat will be away for only two years so why are you two going about as if you've been separated forever ? "

But others didnt know , didnt realise the extent of their bond and the importance of their friendship , the significance of their brotherhood . They had been together almost since birth , and all their experiences and feelings were intricately linked with each other . Their lives were integrated into each other's .

Shubh : Come on Mayank...otherwise we'll be left stranded

Shubh and Mayank wheeled around their suitcases and with the final i-fives and backslapping , walked off towards the gate for the security check .

Sam watched as his best buddies disappeared into the melee of people walking towards different gates .They turned around just as they were about to pass through the detector , and waved at him . He raised his hand and waved back , and once they'd disappeared from his view , he walked back slowly to the parking lot , his heart heavy with the final goodbye .

Chapter 3 - Part II

Mumbai Airport

Aastha watched as the digital screen as the green light beside her flight number flickered on . Just as the words " Air India FL.NO 320-A - BOARDING" flashed on the screen , the announcement came over the public address system , asking all the passengers on her flight to proceed for the security check .

She hugged her family members , and after taking blessings from her elders , proceeded to hug all her friends , who were there in full force . She smiled at her parents once more , flashing a particularly bright one at her teary mother and then went on to hug her brother . This was the parting she really dreaded ,she barred saying goodbye to her brother , who was a friend , a confidante and a sort of father figure to her , because it would hurt her the most . As he enveloped her in her arms , she smiled as she heard " Raksha bandhan ke din rakhi time pe bhej dena " and nodded .

She smiled at all of them once more , her family and her friends , her world , all standing there to see her off . As she walked towards the boarding terminal , her calm,steady steps belied the turmoil within her .

She didnt understand why she was feeling like this , why even a few days before she had been feeling good ... of course , there was sadness that she would be studying away from her family , but her cousin Nupur and her uncle and aunt were there , and it wasnt as if she would never meet her parents again . But apprehensions and worry still raged within her , as if something momentous would happen in the days to come .

She had this sort of subconscious feeling as this London phase of her life would change her , and her life forever , something deep within was telling her that she was breaking out this time , leaving the shell she had been ensconced in for so long .

As she settled down in her seat on the plane and prepared to sleep , the last thought which drifted across her mind , was something totally strange and unconnected to what she'd been feeling throughout the day . She remembered Gayatri's words ...true love wont announce its presence with flashing lights and music...it wont come into your life like a knight riding on his steed ....but true love , when it comes , comes quietly , like an old friend coming to your side
