Version is not mention

It is mention that in udhyog parva there is 10 sub parva and total chapter are 196 in udhyog parva

In it is mention narad muni also come to explain duryodhan along with bhishm drone, vidur and Krishna

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virata_Parva

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vana_Parva

In Wikipedia they tell about Ghosh Yatra ( sub parva of van parva) that duryodhan want to take bath ik reason river but gandharv did not allowed duryodhan to take bath in river

Gandharv capture duryodhan. Yudhistar help duryodhan by sending arjun and bheem and get relive from gandharv

Ga duryodhan feel guilty and not to return kingdom shakuni and karn try to. Sooth duryodhan but failed so at last due to demon inspiration duryodhan rise and said he will defeat pandav

Here is no where mention that shakuni asking duryodhan to have peace with pandav but yes he was requesting duryodhan to return to his kingdom

But yes either in van parva or virat parv drone is asking duryodhan to return kingdom to pandav peace fuly and bhishm support dronacharya

Here another link too from sabha parva where shakuni telling I will snatch all property from yudhistar with out and war

http://hi.krishnakosh.org/कृष्ण/महाभारत_सभा_पर्व_अध्याय_56_श्लोक_1-15

And in one of chapter of sabha parva shakuni was also happy when dussasan forcefully taking draupadi to sabha

And shakuni even asked yudhistar to put draupadi in stake it is mention in one of chapter of sabha parva

Shakuni saying that he will snatch all property of yudhistar through gambling, feeling happy when dussasan insulting draupadi by catching her hair and forcfuly taking her to Hall , asking yudhistar to put draupadi in stake

So surely shakuni was no saint

And actual sources is that one where text is written in both original language as well as translation also

Here in Ganguly only translation is given but there is no mention of text of original language that is Sanskrit and which verse they are translating it is not also mention

Kaurava side: Duryodhan

Pandava side: Kunti, Yudhisthir

Duryodhan: Attempt to poison Bhima, the house of lac and not being content w/ Hastinapur, where he had the original capital, all the core family members - Bahlika, Somadatta, Bhurishrava, Bheeshma, Vidura, Drona, Kripa and Ashwatthama.

Yudhisthir: After getting Indraprastha and doing the Rajasuya yagna, inviting Duryodhan to co-host the yagna w/ him. There was no need, and it only served to ignite the latter's envy. Yudhisthir could have invited from Hastinapur just his well wishers, like Bheeshma, Drona, Kripa and Vidura to represent the Kurus, and conducted the yagna normally.

Kunti: Her shamelessly living w/ the Kauravas in Hastinapur for the 13 years, and after the war, accompanying Dhritarashtra and Gandhari to exile. Also her blackmailing Karna

Did he not advice duryodhan to mix poison in food of duryodhan

And if he was peaceful lover then why he was killed by sehdev in last day of Mahabharata

What shakuni was doing in Kurushetra if he don't want to fight Mahabharata battle

No, Shakuni wasn't involved in the plot to poison Bhima.

His only sin was the game of dice and him cheating in the process of helping Dury win. Bhima made the vow that he'd be killed by Sahadev, so Sahadev fulfilled it.

A lot of people who were not in favor of the war fought on Dury's side once that decision was made - including people like Bheeshma, Drona, Kripa, Ashwatthama, Bhurishrava... Even Shalya was tricked into joining the Kauravas

No, even that is wrong. It was Kanika, a minister of Dhritarashtra, who proposed the house of lac

Shakuni did plan of laksh grah conspiracy along with other

Though karn was not favor in it that not to attack from back but from front but shakuni didn't not agree it

Shakuni always wanted to make duryodhan to be king as it would have make her sister happy because he don't like that sister getting married to blind king

So he wants to take revenge from bheeshm

And shakuni was not peace lover. He could not fight because because his father do not let him to learn how to use weapon because his father don't believe in violence

That is why shakuni use dice as weapon

Shakuni did insert seed of jealous in duryodhan. He did insert seed of greed in duryodhan which lead to Mahabharata

May be in some part shakuni has no role in Mahabharata there is role of shakuni too . If not by weapon but through his manupilative word he also play major role in Mahabharata

One of my biggest beefs w/ this serial is treating the partition of Hastinapur in the dwapar yuga at par w/ the partition of India in 1947. Nowhere near the same thing.

At that time, there was no concept not just of a single Aryavarta, but also, of the integrity of kingdoms. Kings would go on conquests, conquer kingdoms and then put their own relatives on the throne. Janaka did that w/ his brother, Yudhajit of Kekaya allied w/ Rama and Bharat to place Bharat's kids on the throne of Gandhara after a fierce war against the Gandharvas. In the Chandravansh, Yayati, who ruled at Prathisthana (later Prayag) gave each of his 5 sons 5 different kingdoms. Similarly, down the line, various kingdoms were partitioned when there were 2 or more brothers - not everybody did what the Pandavas did, or what Rama's brothers did and served their eldest brother.

So the partition of Hastinapur was just fine. One can debate on whether Arjun was justified in doing a genocide of the Nagas living in the Khandava forests, but that is tangential to the question of whether Yudhisthir deserved his own kingdom.

One of the driving factors behind partitioning kingdoms or giving different sons different kingdoms was to ensure the continuation of a lineage. So lets say that Prathisthana - Yayati's kingdom - got conquered by an enemy king, 4 of his other sons would still continue his lineage elsewhere, and that was a major factor in those times. Ironically, after the Kurukshetra war, w/ many dynasties wiped out in the war, there was only one strand left of the original Purus - the Pandavas, so that's how Parikshit and his successors were known. And note that while King Puru succeeded Yayati at Prathisthana, the dynasty of his that Parikshit kept alive was in Hastinapur/Indraprastha, and not at his original base.

Surabhi, you need to read authentic sources, rather than just go by serials. Just b'cos something was made for TV doesn't mean that it was authentic

I don't go by just by tv

I have read heard about shakuni from my family

And even I read from Krishna. Org where in sabha parv how is telling to duryodhan that isc I will snatch everything from yudhistar through gambling

And even he was feeling happy when dussasan was pulling draupadi hair

So I don't know shakuni b who support duryodhan wrong doing feeling happy when draupadi get insult by dussasan how shakuni is not villain

Another thing it was shakuni solely idea to acquire everything through gamble from yudhistar as duryodhan don't want to live seeing pandav prosperity

And at that time shakuni did not explain to. Duryodhan that he should not be jealous to pandav. Why shakuni arranged dice game with yudhistar if really want duryodhan to have peace with pandav

And it was shakuni ask yudhistar to put draupadi in stake

One can check all these things bin Krishna. Org in Sabha parv chapter 55

SECTION XLVII

"Sakuni said.--'O Duryodhana, thou shouldst not be jealous of Yudhishthira. The sons of Pandu are enjoying what they deserve in consequence of their own good fortune. O slayer of foes, O great king, thou couldst not destroy them by repeatedly devising numberless plans, many of which thou hadst even put to practice. Those tigers among men out of sheer luck escaped all those machinations. They have obtained Draupadi for wife and Drupada with his sons as also Vasudeva of great prowess as allies, capable of helping them in subjugating the whole world. And O king, having inherited the paternal share of the kingdom without being deprived of it they have grown in consequence of their own energy. What is there to make thee sorry for this? Having gratified Hustasana, Dhananjaya hath obtained the bow Gandiva and the couple of inexhaustible quivers and many celestial weapons. With that unique bow and by the strength of his own arms also he hath brought all the kings of the world under his sway. What is there to make thee sorry for this? Having saved the Asura Maya from a conflagration, Arjuna, that slayer of foes, using both his hands with equal skill, caused him to build that assembly house. And it is for this also that commanded by Maya, those grim Rakshasas called Kinkaras supported that assembly house. What is there in this to make thee sorry? Thou hast said, O king, that thou art without allies. This, O Bharata, is not true. These thy brothers are obedient to thee. Drona of great prowess and wielding the large bow along with his son, Radha's son Karna, the great warrior Gautama (Kripa), myself with my brothers and king Saumadatti--these are thy allies. Uniting thyself with these, conquer thou the whole of the earth.'

"Duryodhana said,--'O king, with thee, as also with these great warriors, I shall subjugate the Pandavas, if it pleases thee. If I can now subjugate them, the world will be mine and all the monarchs, and that assembly house so full of wealth.'

"Sakuni replied,--'Dhananjaya and Vasudeva, Bhimasena and Yudhishthira, Nakula and Sahadeva and Drupada with his sons,--these cannot be vanquished in battle by even the celestials, for they are all great warriors wielding the largest bows, accomplished in weapons, and delighting in battle. But, O king, I know the means by which Yudhishthira himself may be vanquished. Listen to me and adopt it.'

"Duryodhana said,--'without danger to our friends and other illustrious men, O uncle, tell me if there is any way by which I may vanquish him.'

"Sakuni said,--'The son of Kunti is very fond of dice-play although he doth not know how to play. That king if asked to play, is ill able to refuse. I am skillful at dice. There is none equal to me in this respect on earth, no, not even in the three worlds, O son of Kuru. Therefore, ask him to play at dice. Skilled at dice, I will win his kingdom, and that splendid prosperity of his for thee, O bull among men. But, O Duryodhana, represent all this unto the king (Dhritarashtra). Commanded by thy father I will win without doubt the whole of Yudhishthira's possessions.'

"Duryodhana said 'O son of Suvala, thou thyself represent properly all this to Dhritarashtra, the chief of the Kurus. I shall not be able to do so.

The bolded text is the stuff where Shakuni tells Dury not to envy the Pandavas. The italicized text is where Dury asks him how to defeat the Pandavas w/o war, and Shakuni suggests the dice.

The only thing you got right was Shakuni being the one to suggest to Yudhisthir that he stake Draupadi to win himself back.
