I am not sure if it's because of ur Operating sys or CS6's fault..i too have this problem.
When i searched..they said about adobe reg. or some .dll,or usinf Bridge[Which doesn't work in portable]..it was damn confusing..so i loaded this program called SageThumb..,now i can see the preview of my psd's,which are over 300 btw😆!

you know the link with the timeline option..is it possible to just extract that bit and add it into my already installed PS?

If u want i have one PSCS6 portable its same to this i think..i just needed to adjust time problem.If u didn't get it from above then do like this..

Simply goto where u loaded like if u loaded in C drive..then..go here

C:\AdobePhotoshopCS6Portable\App\PhotoshopCS6\AMT

RIGHT Click on APPLICATION -XML file>Edit

And u will see something like this ...i have changed the exiration date to 2512,u can add any future date.

<Data key="ExpirationDate">2512/8/4</Data>

And File>Save.

U are done!

Don't open Photoshop until u do this all.
