Hi Pallavi,
I logged into IF after a few days and was pleasantly surprised to see you. Good job pal on answering all the questions.....we did figure that our tastes are similar and I loved the movie Filhal too.
Have you read Jeffery Archer's Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less?

Do you plan to continue your career in the area you are
in now or will you a pursue a different one when you go back to India?

Hi Aloo_gobi, here are the answers:-)

Hey!

great answers xyzzee !!

Thanks:) Great questions too!

im back with more!!! here goes:

- you mentioned earlier that you form impressions by the name of people over the internet....so what did you think of my name!!? 😉

Well, when I first read your user name I certainly imagined a person with a great sense of humour. I can't imagine a prim and proper, all-the-time-serious person coming up with such a funny name:-) When I read that your name was Nisha, I assumed that along with a fun-loving, humourus person, there is also one part of you where you take life seriously when you need to and that you are a responsible person. Am I correct in the opinion that I formed?

- whats your biggest fear in life?

Losing a loved one - that includes my parents, in-laws, spouse and daughter. I have already lost my Grandparents (I was especially grieved when my Nani died since I was closest to her amongst my Grandparents) and after that one of my greatest fears is that one day I will lose my parents and my husband his parents. I often wish they could live for ever so I would not have to see that day.

- do you believe in God? how much? why?

I believe in God completely. I can't get myself to believe that the Earth, life and the universe just came to existence by itself.. Also, quite a few things have been achieved by Prayer (at least from what I have observed). I maybe digressing here but another thing I can't get myself to believe is that death is nothing but a dreamless sleep. I believe it is not the case and that there is a different plane on which a super-consciousness exists..

- who is the most important person in your life?

There is actually more than one most important person to me.. My parents, husband and daughter are very important to me..So are my husband's parents and my brother..

- who could you not live without?

Hmm, good one.. I guess right now it is be my daughter, my parents and husband.. Of course I think the first one who I could not live without would be my daughter since we do not expect to see the death of a younger generation..I fear losing everyone else that I mentioned above too but since I know that is more likely to happen than losing my daughter (when I am alive) accepting her loss gets more difficult as well.

- have you taught your daughter to speak your mother tongue?

Yes, I am quite particular that she speaks Tamil at home.. She has no problems speaking it and loves Indian songs so it has not been a problem so far.

- do you think bollywood films are trying to be too advanced these days?

Well, some movies are undoubtedly a little too advanced. But I do not think I would generalize and say all of them are that advanced. I have seen movies like Bewafaa, Kal Ho Na Ho, Veer Zaara, Filhaal, etc.. which are great and extremely 'clean' and decent. So, I do believe that we have the choice of not watching the real 'explicit' movies. I also know that the so called explicit movies were not that popular in India amongst the middle class..If they do show such stuff on TV when my daughter is awake and around, I would just switch channels or better still switch off the TV:-)!.

- your closest buddy on this forum is?

I have been active for a few months but I have started getting to know all of you only since the last month or so.. So, I can't say I am closest to just one person in the forum, I have exchanged a few PMs with some and I hope my friends circle increases. All in all I think the people in this forum are a friendly and tolerant lot!

- did you go to university? where?

Yes, I completed my BE (Bachelors in Engineering) from India and I completed my Masters here in the US. I completed it online and my company actually sponsored it! I completed my Masters last year and believe me that was one of the busiest times for me.. I would not have been able to do it but for my parents' tremendous help and support.

- what were you like when you were younger (not that you are old now!!) in your teens or college years??!! have you changed much?!

LOL. I liked what you put in brackets. Well, people who have seen me after 8-9 years have told me that I have not changed much physically.. I tell them I I hope they say that 10 years later.😉 I guess I have not put on much weight since then and that has helped. Also, my frame is small for a 5 ft 4 inch height and that helps as well. Emotionally I know I have matured and become more responsible over the years. But I still have the tendency to play pranks and always game for some fun especially when I am with friends..

- if you had a choice, would you like to be dr.simran? if so why/why not!?

Not really. I do admire certain aspects of her character, like her strength in character, her forgiving nature but she is a little too much of a superwoman and also way too serious.. Another reason why I would not want to be her is because of her sufferings.. She has seen way too many sufferings in life and I don't think I would want that aspect of it.

- your favourite clothes?

As far as Indian clothes go - Salwar Kameez, because it is soooo comfortable and at the same time looks beautiful. Sarees look great except that I am not too comfortable with them..

As far as Western clothes are concerned I like skirts and dresses - for the same reason, so comfortable at the same time looks real good.

- you ever met any famous?

Not face to face but I have attended shows like Aishwarya Rais', Hrithik Roshan (last year ) and SP Balasubramaniam's musical shows in India and also in the US.

- do you have an idol? if so, whom and why?

Hmmm, I can't think of one, but in some ways I would like to be like my mother - especially when it comes to parenting..

- do you believe in love at first sight?

Good one.. Love at first sight may have happened for some people but it has not happened with me. From my perspective - I believe that I could be attracted to someone at first sight but love takes time to develop.

- in your eyes, what is 'being in love' all about!?

Love to me is deep affection, passion, care and concern for someone..It also involves the willingness to sacrifice to some extent (though not like the Saakshi-Nakul pair!!)

- do you think bollywood films have a realistic portrayal of 'love'?!

Not all the time.. Very often they fall in love after one or two meetings and very deeply in love at that.. Somehow I can't understand the way they portray that at times.. But some of the movies do show couples gradually falling in love and that seems realistic enough..

- have you seen mughal-e-azam!? only asking because i watched it for the first time recently and thought it was amazing!

I have not though many of my friends have recommened it. Should try to see it one of these weekends. You too have said it and I really think I should now. Too many recommendations for the movie for me not to see it!

- your fav old time actor/actress?

There are a few, Big B, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi (loved her acting in Masoom) are a few..

- Do you think caste and religion is an important factor when marrying someone?

That totally depends on the family I think.. It is not often a big deal when a couple is willing to adjust to each other and respect each others' beliefs. But I have seen a few cases where it has ended up becoming a problem because both husband and wife become rigid after a few years, ego problems come into play and they try to impose their beliefs on the other. Also, in many cases, both husband and wife want to impose theirs and just their beliefs on their child.

- what song do you really like at the moment?!

I like many but I love the title song of Kal Ho Na Ho. I also like all the songs from 1942 a love story.

- Do you sing?!

LOL. Only in the bathroom, don't want to invite a ton of donkeys over!

- what does your husband love about you the most!?

I think it is my spontaneity.. I don't hesitate to speak my mind out with him and that has been ever since we got to know each other..

- what is your most loved possession?

My collection of books! (I assume you mean material possessions).

- your favourite item in your home?

The entertainment set in our new house:-)

- what do you prefer - a hug or a kiss!!!?? sorry if this is too personal..you really dont have to answer it!!! 😉 me just being cheeky!!

Don't worry it is not personal..:-) I like both but I prefer a hug because to me (I maybe wrong but that's just how I perceive it), a hug demonstrates more love/affection.

- the most romantic thing your husband has done for you?

Planned a surprise Birthday Party for me a few years ago..

- the most romantic thing YOU have done for your husband?!

When I paid him a surprise visit (soon after we were married and he stayed in a different city for a few months). Still can't forget the expression on his face.

- who do you think is the reigning actress of today?

Again quite a few but Preity Zinta is becoming really popular according to me..

- who you prefer - niki or madhuri !!?

I would think Madhuri mainly because she is quite versatile and has played different roles well. Niki has done a great job in AEPK but besides this one I have not seen too many of her shows. Baat Ban Jaye was one of them but I think she is much better here in AEPK.

- you said you will move back to india one day, if your daughter wishes to marry out the country, is that okay with you and your husband?

Very good question! Since she is just six I have not given much thought to that.. I guess we will cross the bridge when we come to it.. But yes, I will try to reason with her and find out more about him - and if I find that he has everything that a woman would look for in a man and if he is a decent individual, I would agree, since her happiness is very important to me...

- you mentioned you like the film filhaal a lot, if you were in a similar position, would you become a surrogate mother?

Not sure.. That's a bold decision (a good one of course) for an unmarried woman who has neevr had a child or experienced pregnancy before..I guess if I felt really very strongly about the person I might consider it, though I can't say for sure.

- whats the most naughtiest thing you have ever done?!

There have been a few...One that I distinctly remember was a crank call to a friend of mine (in high school) and she was completely taken in by it.

- your most embarrassing moment?!

In school I had a close friend whose mom happened to be my teacher. Both Mother and Daughter sounded really alike on the phone and I once called up and her mom (my teacher answered the phone). I assumed it was my friend and said quite a few silly things to her (just a sentence or two). When I later realized it was not my friend, but my teacher, well, you can imagine how I felt. There have been other incidents too but this one comes to my mind now..

Okay, well i think thats enough for the meantime, i got carried away again!!! hope you have fun answering the questions!

Not a problem!! I had a great time answering them and do come up with more..

Thank you:-) Yes, this is certainly not the first time our tastes have matched or that we have thought alike!

Yes, I have read Jeffrey Archer's Not a Penny More, not a Penny less and I really liked it.. Especially the ending. That was hilarious. Have you read Kane and Abel? Another great book of his.. Amongst his collection of short stories I also liked the story "Never Stop on a Motorway", I think that was part of a "Quiver full of arrows", not sure though..

Do you plan to continue your career in the area you are
in now or will you a pursue a different one when you go back to India?

Well, I plan to continue being in IT but I may not work for a financial company. It depends on the opportunities that come my way. I I know I don't want to take up 12-14 hour jobs because I would want to spend more time with my daughter and as I mentioned in my first post my husband and I would like to do some social service as well. Let us see how it goes:-) .

I have a question for you now. Why did you pick this username? I know it has the first two letters of your name but is there any otehr reason?

Kane and Abel, The Presidents Daughter and Shall we tell the President?

I do not remember much about the President's daughter though... I think I have read the short story.. I may check it out tonight again :)

My nickname is Vasi. Some of my school friends used to call me vazz and it just remained with me.

Wow! Good question again - in fact all the questions have been really interesting!

I guess to me a dream house has a lot to do with the warmth it exuberates.. I know this sounds vague but more than the size of the rooms and things like that, there is often a setting in houses that gives it warmth (not temperature wise, but feeling wise:-)) It usually has to do with the colour of the walls, the way it has been designed, certain settings, etc.. For example I like houses with sloping roofs. That gives it some kind of a coziness (to me). I also like high ceilings and a small yard at the back and a garden in the front (nothing too huge else maintenance gets difficult!). So, I guess I would like a house with 4 good size Bedrooms, high ceilings, a decent size living room and kitchen, alongwith of course a small backyard and garden.. The house we just moved to has all this and we do plan to build something similar (not to this house necessarily but matching the criteria I just mentioned above) when we go back to India. I would also like to have close friends and relatives come over often - as well as my daughter's playmates, else what use is a house if it remains forever empty or almost empty:-)

Don't worry, that happens to me too especially when it comes to names of books. I still remember the book "Little women" by L.M. Alcott and the whole series. One of the books in the series is called "Jo's Boys" and for the longest time I kept calling it "Jo's sons". And I knew it just did not sound right! Later I realized it was "Boys" and not "Sons".

Hi,

Do you go to other forums too in IF? What are the other sections where you are as active as here 😊

Hi Chikoo,

I do go into sections like RINH and Kasshish a few times.. Since Kasshish is going to end soon, the discussions are also not in full swing. But I do enjoy the discussions there as well as in RINH. I have noticed and liked your posts there as well. I used to visit the Sindoor Section sometimes but since I hardly get a chance to watch the serial anymore I don't visit it as much.. As for the Astitva section I guess I visit it more because of the discussions than the serial itself!
