Hi Pallavi
Congratulations on becoming MOW!!!
Thanks sapana:-)
Some questions:
1) Which part of India are u from?I am basically a Tamilian though I was raised in different parts of India (mostly in the Northern part of India). After my father retired from service we moved to the South. My parents are now settled in Bangalore..
2) Which languages do u speak?I speak English (Of course, am I stating the obvious!:-)), Hindi and Tamil. I understand a little bit of Kannada and Telugu.
3) About ur profession, are u a programmer? If so, what is ur platform?Yes, part of my work involves programming, though I am also involved in the design and testing of the Financial Software we develop. I work mostly in Microsoft .NET technologies (like C# and C++) and databases.
4) Did u ever want ur husband to be from the same profession as u r in?Hmmm, not particularly, meaning I did not mind it either way:-) I used to discuss this topic with other friends when I was in college and we would discuss the pros and cons of both husband and wife being in the same profession. I feel both have its advantages and disadvantages. Of course ultimately that is only one of the many factors for a couple to be compatible or otherwise.
That's all for now, will ask u more later.. 😊
Sure!
Also u were asking about changing the colour of ur answers...do u see the "Click here to post in WYSIWYG Editor" link below the Post reply box. If u click on that u will have more options to format ur text. If u do not see the link go to Settings --> Edit Profile --> Forum preferences --> Enable the WYSIWYG post editor and set it to yes.
Actually I do!! Thanks a ton and please forgive my ignorance on this:-)!!

Thanks Sara:-) I completely agree with you. In fact to me that (husband and wife being best friends) is the essense of a relationship.
What is your favorite book & writer?
Ooh, I have many. LOL. But amongst the ones that I remember right now I do like Sidney Sheldon's "Master of the Game". I don't necessarily think all his books are that good but this one was great - according to me anyway. I read it first when I was in college and I liked it so much that I actually bought a copy a year ago..I also liked Irwing Wallace's "The Second Lady". I like the Sherlock Holmes series "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" too. In fact I have a copy of that as well. My husband asks me if I want to start a library, since my collection of books is increasing by the day..BTW, I am reading "Pride and Prejudice" right now. I had read it ages ago in school but could not comprehend it the way I should have at that point. I have read/heard so much about it that I thought I should read it again.

how did u "get into" astitva?Through my parents who liked the serial and started watching it a little before I started to and recommended it to me. Thanks to the serial, I have now also had the opportunity to get to know people like you and others in the forum for which I am thankful:-)

cheers
iiTake care and talk to you again soon.
Hi Pallavi😊 It's wonderful to finally get the chance to know you better! Congrats on becoming the MOW👏👏👏
Hi Jen, Thanks .. :-) I am glad I have been given this opportunity to get to know you all better too!
From your posts, you come across as a very sensible and sweet person to me.Thanks a lot, Jen! The compliment feels great coming from such a warm person like you!
Describe yourself in three words (tell the truth please😉😃) to a person who doesn't know you.
Hmm, interesting question:-) I guess sensitive/emotional (Sometimes a little too much so), fun-loving/optimistic and short tempered (that is something I am trying to change and it is not easy, sigh..) would be three pretty apt words to describe me. At least according to me..Others may have different opinions I guess:-)
So your parents are based in Bangalore? I simply love that city!! How often do you visit Bangalore? What are the key differences between a commercial city like New York and a city like Bangalore?Oh, so you like Bangalore too! Wow! That's nice.. Do you have family there? I like it too. I visit Bangalore often, i.e. whenever I visit India, which is every year or 2.. Bangalore is different in the sense people are a little more laid back than people in NY and for some reason life in NY seems to fly much faster than life in Bangalore. One major difference is that almost everyone in NY (City that is) depends on public transportation to get to different places, while in Bangalore most people own vehicles ( at least a 2 wheeler) and do not depend as much on public transportation.
Name one movie/song that makes you cry everytime you watch/hear it😊'Masoom' is one movie which brings tears into my eyes everytime I watch it. Wonderful portrayal of the little boy's helplessness and at the same time a great portrayal of Shabana Azmi's dilemna/plight/shock and finally whole hearted acceptance of the little boy. My symapthies lie with both Shabana and Rahul (Juggal Hansraj) in the movie.. When I first watched it (years ago, when I was in my early teens) my sympathies lay more with Rahul, but I recently watched it again (a year or so ago) and this time I felt whole hearted symapthy towards Shabana as well - though I agree her husband was highly repentant. As a woman I can imagine the confusion, dilemna and anguish she must have felt by her husband's betrayal (not withstanding the fact that he was very sorry about what he had done and never once turned back) especially when she saw his son everytime.. A very human portrayal of Shabana Azmi's character (forget her name in the movie) and at the same time a great portrayal of a magnanimous woman! Undoubtedly a great movie, in my opinion. The songs there are also very good..
When you said Filhaal, were you talking about the movie with Tabu and Sushmita? I really liked that movie too😊Yes, that's what I meant. So, you liked it too! We seem to have similar tastes!!
Who do you like better, Sushmita Sen or Aishwarya Rai?Overall I like Sushmita Sen better though Aishwarya has acted good in a couple of movies. But something about Sushmita Sen's face is very appealing to me - some kind of a sweetness.. I hope I have not hurt Aishwarya Rai's die hard fans here. Sorry if I have.
Who do you think is the most overrated actor and actress of India and why?😊Hmm, tricky question and I hope I don't get into trouble for answering this. LOL. Actually there are a few and to me Aishwarya Rai is one of them. I am not saying she is bad or anything like that but I think she was just lucky in some ways to make it in movies - probably because of her Miss World image (at least partly because of that).. She has good looks, no doubt about it but then there are many others who are good looking and are better in acting but have not been able to make it like she has..Of course I am also happy that she has helped to make India known to the Western World. I am also happy that she spoke well of India in her interviews in US (though she giggled too much at times). In a way she helped clear some of the cliched views of India.. But one area she seriously needs improvement is acting (barring a few movies). Again, this is just my opinion and I hope I was not offensive and did not hurt anyone's sentiments:-)
Can you tell us one major difference between the life of a married woman and the life of a single woman?Very interesting and thought provoking question.. I think one of the major differences is increased responsibility and commitment - commitment towards each other. Before marriage, a lot of responsibility is handled by parents, but after marriage, the responsibility lies on the shoulders of both spouses - responsibilities that they share, though parents are always willing to help out.
Sorry for any repeated questions Pallavi. You have not repeated any questions and even if you did, it is not a problem at all:-) I don't mind answering them again. Also every person asks questions differently :-)
Thanks and great job answering all the questions👏😊
Thank you:-) I am trying:-)
