Quite a serious subject from you this time😊 But a very poignant one. One that is close to the heart of every girl and woman.
I and my sisters were raised like princesses every whim and fancy however unreasonable met. I would not say that we weren't given equal opportunities because we all are educated. But we could not help notice over the years that some sort of fear & anxiety is always associated with every matter which concerns us. Be it further education, a school trip or even a jaunt to the mall across the street from our home. Not that they ever mention it aloud or make us feel like that.Never.Worry is all we see on their faces. I know they are proud of our achievements too but it does not last long enough. And every conversation surrounds marriages. Who the boy will be, how his parents will treat us etc etc...But its not so with our brothers. Its always bouts of laughter. They are not that worried about them. Kahaan jaate hai kya karte they are carefree. They are sure everything will work in their favour.
So somewhere there is a guilt in us that we are a cause of unending worry for our parents.
My point is our society is such that its just not meant for girls to flourish & nurture.Whatever strata of society one belongs to one has to live in constant fear. Fear that the girl might bring shame to the family either by a love affair or someone else assaulting her or she might financially burden the family because getting a girl married isnot cheap here. And parents want to escape that. So they think its better to suffer a big heart break once by abandoning or killing them that to live under a shadow all their lives.
Our society too is to be equally blamed for the plight of little girls in our society.
lamba ho gaya!😆
