The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. A few minutes passed; no one spoke. That's when Sameer decided to break the silence.

"Raute yeh Miss Akansha hain…" But Arjun interrupted him.

"Miss nahi Rathore…Mrs. Mrs. Akansha Singh. Am I right Mrs. Singh?" His voice was strangely soft and dripping with sarcasm.

"Y…Ye…Yes…" she said hesitantly.

Everybody looked at Akansha curiously. There was no sindoor, No mangalsutra or any chain for that matter and no wedding ring. No wonder everybody except Arjun was astonished.

"Well…I'm very sorry Mrs. Singh. Mujhe pata nahi tha aur aap…."

But she didn't let him complete. She knew what he was going to say. "Nahi…Nahi ACP Rathore. Its all right…really." And then as though speaking to herself she added, "khud ko dekh kart oh mujhe bhi vishwaas nahi hota ki main shaadishuda hun…toh fir aapko dosh kaise de sakti hun…"

Feeling their inquisitive gazes upon herself, she snapped out of her trance. "Anyways…kaam ki baat karte hain. Main Mr. Vaibhav Deshmukh ki lawyer hun."

"Of course…aapko yahan dekhte hi samajh gaya tha main ki aap isiliye yahaan aayi hain. Varna aapko yahaan aane ki zaroorat kyun padti. But I'm not at all surprised. After all, gunehgaaron ko bachaana toh aapki puraani aadat hai. Right?" Though Arjun's tone was calm,it couldn't hide the fact that he was seething with rage inside.

Akansha remained silent.

"Raute…" Sameer said in a warning tone.He had a feeling that something was seriously wrong. He was well aware of Arjun's zero tolerant attitude towards crime but he usually kept it reserved for criminals…He had never seen him so hostile towards their lawyers except when….Well now wasn't the time to revisit past demons nor was there any need for it…the past was best left alone. Right now the present needed his attention. Little did he know how wrong he was.

Arjun ignored him and continued. "Aapki ummeedon par paani fern eke liye maafi chahata hun. Par iss case mein aap kuch nahi kar sakti. Aise mat dekhiye…Saboot hain mere paas. Dekhna chahengi?"

Two police officers entered with three handcuffed men. All three were shivering.

"Koun hai yeh teeno Raute?"

"Batata hun…investigation ke dauran mili information ke hisaab se Vaibhav hamara prime suspect tha.

Uska motive bhi clear tha…par problem thi lack of concrete evidence. Us ex-watchman aur us sharabi kea lava hamare paas koi gavah nahi tha. Aur dono ki hi testimony ki credibility bohot low thi. Store mein mojood witnesses ne hamein uska description diya aur vahi description us watchman ne bhi diya. Black leather jacket, black jeans, black bag, white sports shoes and most importantly uska chehra. Saath hi usne hamein Ramesh aur Vaibhav ke jhagde ke baare mein bhi bataya. Us sharabi ne ek baar mein use phone par kehte hue suna "Vaibhav saab…aapka kaam ho gaya hai…Teen crore ka maal hai…mera hissa 50 lakh hai…" Yeh baat mujhe shuru se khatak rahi thi ki koi bhi chor, kitna hi anadi kyu na ho…bina apna chehra chupaye, din dahade ek jewellery store lootne kyu jaayega…par hamare paas koi aur lead nahi thi…isliye hamne uske sketch ko database se match kiya…aur hame match mil bhi gaya. Raju jo ek chota-mota chor hai aur aise hi ek case mein 2 saal ki saza kaat raha tha. Par yeh ek dead end nikla kyuki Raju robbery ke vakt jail mein tha. Uski rihai next day hui. Maine kaha than a Rathore ki sab kuch aankhon ka dhoka hai…hum yahi sochte rahe ki mujrim benaqaab hai…aur yahi hamari galti thi. Naqaab tha…aur vo bhi aisa ki koi bhi samajh nahi paaya ki vo hai. Samjhe ya…samjhaaun?"

"Samjha hi do Raute…kyuki tumhaari yeh dil dehla dene vaali discoveries …tumhaari yeh jalebi ki tarah seedhi baatein films mein acchi lagti hain real life mein nahi. Hum koi mind readers nahi hain jo bina kahe tumhara dimaah pdh lein. Vo baat aur hai ki tumhaara dimaag padhne padhne ke chakkar mein us mind reader ka hi dimaag kharab ho jaayega…Saaf saaf kaho kya kehna chahte ho…

"Rathore maine dobara jewellery store jaakar CCTV footage check ki. Robber ki right wrist par ek tattoo tha jo hamne pehli baar overlook kar diya tha. Yahi vo kadi thi jo choot rahi thi. Uske baad main Raju se mila. Uske haath par koi tattoo nahi tha par vo isse pehchanta zaroor tha. Usne yahi tattoo us kaidi ke haath par dekha tha jiske saath voh enclosure share karta tha. Uski rihai Raju se theek ek hafte pehle hui thi. Baaki information mujhe jail authorities se mil gayi. Chotu ke informers ne mujhe unki current location batayi aur bhaagne se pehle hi ye teeno pakde gaye. Yeh, Satish Rawat, hi tumhaara mujrim hai." He said, pointing towards the man in the centre. Aur yeh Santosh aur Jayant iske makeup artists hain jinhone ise Raju ka getup diya."

The three men confessed their crime and testified against Vaibhav. Seeing that his game was up, Vaibhav too admitted the truth.

Meanwhile, the entire team couldn't help but marvel at Arjun's sheer brilliance and the way hwe managed to take their breath away each and every time. But one pair of eyes showed a different sentiment…pride…sisterly pride and then suddenly there was a quick feminine change to tears which Akansh quickly blinked back.

After the culprits had been taken away, Rathore turned to Akansha. "Well…I don't thinkki aap iss case mein kuch kar paayeingi. And I don't think ki sach janne ke baad bhi aap kuch karna chahengi."

She replied with a soft smile," You are right. Sach janne ke baad…."

But Arjun had once again interrupted her. "Sach ka matlab bhi jaanti hain aap? Inhe underestimate mat karo Rathore. Is bhole se chehre ke peeche ki kadwi sacchayi..."

"Enough Arjun…" She shrieked. She couldn't take it anymore. She understood his resentment. She understood his pain and even if she did not, she was at least trying…But all he was doing was shattering her already broken heart into a million pieces. "Bohot sun liya maine…tum mujhse iss tarh baat kaise kar sakte ho….? How can you do this?"

"You are nobody to ask me anything and I don't need to explain you anything…" Arjun's formerly calm demeanour was nowhere to be seen. All that could be seen was bitterness.

Outside, the sky was overcast with heavy dark clouds and the wind was blowing fiercely. A storm was approaching…and it was approaching fast….
