Chapter 20

After dropping the postman, arjun rows to the docks. He docks his boat and hands the oars to the individual. He enters a building with a shop which sells fashionable clothes. 10 minutes later he steps out wearing a suit. He puts on the sunglasses and reaches the dock. A boat immediately stops in front of him with a man and woman in it. They both are dressed in casual clothes. Arjun gets into the boat and it took off. The boat nears to a building. Out of the cabin steps a bespeckaled man and a girl with a nose ring. they exchange places with the other two. A woman steps out of the cabin. She has coal-black eyes, straight hair and fair skin. She is nervous but determined. Now is the time to fulfill her duties. Her duties as a wife.

Arnav is typing mechanically. He is thinking about the numbers and statistics. Suddenly he remembers her smile. His hands fold into a tight fist. He knows that he has hurt her a lot maybe beyond irreparable but he does'nt regret it. he will do anything and cross any limit just to ensure that his family is safe. No matter what the price is. His secretary knocks on the door snapping him out of his thoughts. He glances at the watch. It is time for his 1'o clock meeting. His secretary informs him that they have arrived. He tells her to sent them in. he looks at his laptop and goes through the document again. Glancing up he froze. Looking at him with teary eyes is the person he considers his life. The person for whom he would cross any limit just to ensure hers and their safety. She said "arnavji". Arnav whispered in shock "khushi."

Sonia looks at the window hoping it would calm her turbulent mind. The scene in front of her was'nt of the gondolas rowing but of a white-scapped mountain. The window is actually a screen which portrays different images of nature everyday. Today it was her favourite scene, the mountain. For her it signifies the ladder she has to climb. At the end she does'nt know about what she will get. She is scared and worried. But she knows one thing. She is strong enough to handle all of them. she will succeed in her goal on matter what the price is. Hearing the door slam open she switched off the screen. She heard screaming from both the people from the hall. Tying her hair into a ponytail she puts on a bored expression and saunters into the hall. She sees shyam and abdul facing each other poised to fight. khala is standing at the side with a speculative expression on her face. All 3 of them look at her as she enters the hall. She asks in a bored voice "what's the commotion?" shyam storms up to her and grabs her right arm tightly. Sonia immediately catches his hand and presses a point which makes him yelp and takes his hands off her. she twists the hand making him yelp more in pain and then leaves it. abdul and khala looks on warily. Sonia sits on the sofa and crossing her legs ask "whats the matter?". Abdul sits on the sofa opposite her and says "karan and arnav have gone on the side of the police. How did you not know that?"

Sonia replies calmly "so we will get them back. We know what makes them tick." Shyam holding his hand gingerly told "that's not the problem." sonia looks at him with a bored expression and asked "now you want me to ask you politely what's the problem or are you going to take the difficulty to tell me what it is?" abdul looks at her speculatively and says "the problem is that it seems they have amassed a lot of evidence against us. all the deals done through their company, the transactional amounts done in their name, even the smuggling as been put as evidence by them." sonia: so they are implicating themselves in the end. That is so pathetic. We will be safe." Khala: it would have worked but they also have a recording. A recording of shyam telling that the plan is to implicate them in those crimes and then to take over the company. A recording which when submitted in court will prove that they are innocent. Sonia: how? It dawns on sonia and she immediately gets up and hurried inside. She opened her jewellery box and took the bracelet. Bringing it to the light she carefully examines. She then sees that a diamond is different from the others. It is a recording device. Sonia takes the bracelet and shows it to them. shyam: how the hell did he do this? you are responsible for this. can't you have made sure that he is still infatuated with you? sonia: calm down shyam and sit, I had thought that he was still infatuated. How am I supposed to know that bracelet he gave has a recording device. He fooled me too. A bolt of electricity went through sonia's body making her shudder. She is going to fall down but khala held her by the neck and whispers in her ear "how can you be so careless sonia beti." She again presses the device against her neck and a jolt passed through sonia's body. Khala: your job. a jolt'. Was to ensure that we use asr's company. another jolt'. And yet he collected evidence against us. third jolt'. Seems like sonia beia you have forgotten what pain is. It's time to show you. she then held the device to sonia's neck sending jolts of electricity throughout her body. Sonia clasped her hands and shut her eyes not screaming. She vowed never to scream. Abdul and shyam looked on with a smirk in their face. After 10 minutes, khala removed the device and through her on the ground. She says " make sure arnav and karan don't stay alive. And if you don't complete this task then you know what will happen." All of them went away. Hearing the door shut sonia slumped to the ground. She touched the area where the device was touching and felt a burn. She closed her eyes stopping the tears from falling but after a few second curls up into a ball and let the tears flow.

LAST CHAPTER

Abdul, khala and shyam sat in the boat. The boat started living for the ship which would take them to a non-extradiction country. abdul said "what about sonia?" khala smiles which makes shivers go down shyam and abdul. She replies "lets just say that we don't require her anymore. After she finishes arnav and karan, she will be finished also."

Shyam:but what about her ability?

Kha:in that matter dr dixit's notes are there. He did extensive research on this. so why we need to carry extra luggage?

But before shyam could say anything the phone rang. Khala puts the phone on speaker. Sonia said "tch, tch khala you should be careful about what you say. Water can also have ears."

Abd: shut up sonia. Has the work been done yet?

Son:the work. Which work? Oh that work. Why don't you on the news and see?

Shyam ons the news and sees the breaking news that arnav and karan have been killed. Everyone cheers seeing this news. shyam said "finally the thorn has been removed from my side. Now khushiji is mine."

Son:tch, tch shyam seems like you did'nt see the full news. watch it carefully.

They saw the news and shyam gives a shout seeing that khushi had also been killed.

Shy; what the hell sonia? Why did you kill her?

Son: what? She was a witness and a witness had to be killed.

Before shyam could burst on sonia khala stops him. she said sweetly "okay sonia. You have gained our trust. Why don't you come on the boat and we will celebrate."

Son:khala, you know you are even more dangerous when you are sweet. And as to the offer on the boat love to but you see I don't want to get killed. On the other hand my contract is over so I will take your leave. You can arrest them.

All 3 of them said "contract? What contract?" but the phone got cut and they turned to see the italian police standing at the entrance with guns pointed at them.

Arjun stared impassively at the screens which shows all the 3 interrogations which were going on. All 3 of them were tough nuts but now those nuts were beginning to crack. The evidence against them was real and all of them knew that they were going to suffer for a long time in jail. The only way to get a shorter term is to give him up. He thought "not very long sikander. I will make you suffer that you will beg for death. And that you won't be granted that also." He felt arnav stand beside him and glaring at the screen showing shyam's interrogation. He asked "when can I bash him up?"

Sak: very soon.

He turns to see everyone come inside the room except aisha, karan and sameer. Sameer is taking the interrogation of abdul, aisha of khala and karan of shyam. After sometime they exchanged with the Italian officers and came to the room which showed all these interrogations. Sameer said "its not long before they give him up." Khushi said "this is all because of soniaji." Everyone looks at her and she continued "if she had'nt helped all of us then we would'nt have been able to get any of them." arnav said "khushi is right. this would'nt have been possible if it had'nt been for riya." Everyone stares shocked at arnav. He said "yes she is riya. We were friends from childhood. After sometime she moved away. 4 years ago she came asking for help in taking care of Ananya and Aryan. After that she was gone and the next news I received was of her death. I was shattered because she was my only friend. But 1 year before she came with the name of sonia. After sometime I found out that she was send by shyam to create problems between me and khushi. We made a plan to go along with this charade till enough evidence is gathered to put shyam away for a long time. What I did'nt know was it was going to be tough and it will take a long time." He looks at khushi with the guilt in his eyes but khushi hugs him and said "you did it for us. but don't do this to me again. I won't be able to bear it."

Arjun's phone ring. seeing the unknown number he guessed who it was. He puts the phone on speaker and says "hello sonia."

Son: hi acp and everyone present there.

Arn:riya, I told them everything. Its time that you come back.

Son:oh... who told that my name is riya?

Everyone stilled hearing this. arnav said "don't joke riya. Come and spend a life with your children."

Son: and who told that ananya and Aryan are my children?

Liz: dna reports.

Son:oh... that. well you see there is this thing about dna reports. It can be manipulated. And especially with the level security in that lab you sent. Very easily. I just hacked and changed it from negative to positive.

Everyone is in shock hearing this but arjun has no expression on his face. He asked "then who are you?"

She replies "me. I am a person who gets into a contract and fulfills the need of that contract by whatever means possible. As to my name. you can call me any name you want. Be it riya or sonia or even sana. Identities are interchangeable and for me I have no permanent identity that you know me of." Sameer said "then why did you help us?" she said "because it said in the contract to get you as close as possible to sikander." Arnav asks "whose contract is this?" now there was a silence. A silence which slowly dawned on arjun its answer. He asked "roshni?". The continuing silence is enough for an answer. Aisha asked "for how long has been this contract?" she replies "for lets see umm... counting today 8 years." khushi said "then why did you drag us into this?" she said "hello, have'nt you been listening? By whatever means possible I fulfill the contract. And why are you asking this? all your troubles are over. That bas***d shyam is in prison. I don't know for how much long I had to tolerate his lustful gaze. Yuck." Khushi said "but because of you we had to undergo all this pain." She replies "hello thank me instead of criticizing me. I just took the root of all your marital and financial problems you had. With your help obviously." Arnav caught hold of khushi's shoulder before she could say anything. He said in a calm voice which barely suppressed his anger "thanks for removing all our problems. I hope we never meet again." She said "yeah, I know that. I called to say all the best to all of you. and I hope that we will never meet again. Unless you want to make a contract." And the phone got cut. Aisha said "8 years. that means..." shree said "she is riya. She played with our feelings." Arjun stared at the phone and dialed the number. She picked it up on the first ring. arjun said "thank you. and good bye. And next time the contract you get will be mine."

And he cut it.

Riya stares at the phone for a long time and then threw it in the water. She gets into the helicopter and the helicopter took off. She stares at the beautiful scenery in front of her but her mind goes through all the memories. The contract, her murder, the years, the team, the end, the start and the manipulation. She said to herself "I should have never have fallen in love with you acp. My rules were broken once. Not anymore. Not anymore." And she wipes the tears which were falling from her eyes. The chopper landed on a large ground. Coming out she wears the sunglasses and walks. Coming to a large building she stares at it with a smile on her lips. This is her world and will be forever. There is no use of harbouring any hopes. She opens the door and hears everyone say "SURPRISE. WELCOME BACK RIYA." And her dimple smile comes. The door closes behind her leaving behind her hopes, her love, her friendship. For her this contract came to an end. There is no more of ETF, no more of them.
