Really loved this update Pompy. I am glad there is a 1.5 yr gap. I am hoping it has brought some clarity to Anuj and he is miles apart from shah house and Anupama and do not have any emotional baggage.

It is really needed for a fresh start as Maaya herself has had a rough life and they both deserve a simple and peaceful life with CA.

I will write about his feelings after the divorce in one of the upcoming parts. I don’t know how do feel people because divorce to dur, I am not even married. 😅

I would love to read about Anupama in a parallel . It might be sadist on my part but i want to see her bear the fruits of her own stupidity. Her continuous non stop drama in the Shah house on one side and Anuj's sorted serene life with Maaya on the other side.

And they meet again❤️The year long gap was definitely needed... It shows some depth in Maaya and in the relationship between them❤️ Lovely one Pompy🤗

Part 7

The next morning Anuj saw Maaya leaving. He was about to go after her but the lodge owner who was an old aged lady stopped him.

Lodge owner: Breakfast is ready, please have it and go beta.

Anuj: I am in a hurry, I need to..

Lodge owner: You should never go out on empty stomach.

Anuj gave up looking at the owner's insistence. He was lost in thought as he ate his breakfast, thinking about Maaya and their unexpected encounter. He was so preoccupied that he barely noticed the old lady approaching him.

Lodge owner: Is everything alright, beta? (placing a gentle hand on his shoulder)

Anuj jumped slightly, startled by her touch.

Anuj: Oh, yes, everything's fine. (forcing a smile)

Lodge owner: You two seem to have some history, what's the story between you two? If you were married, you wouldn't have slept in different rooms. The same goes if you were having an affair.

Anuj: It's not like that. We are just friends.

Lodge owner: Friends huhh!! A man and a woman can't be friends.

Anuj: Why not? She's a friend who happens to be a female. By the way, how do you know so much about stuff like that?

Lodge owner: I watch TV serials every day. And all of them have stuff like that. They always have affairs and slap each other. They even scheme to kill each other.

Anuj couldn't control his laughter. He thanked the old lady and left.

"She doesn't remember me..ha? She can't even lie properly. I wish it would have snowed more", Anuj smiled to himself. Lost in thought, he didn't even realize he had walked all the way back to the shop where he had first heard about Maaya's involvement with the old age home. The shopkeeper, who had been the one to inform Anuj about Maaya's work, noticed his troubled expression and asked if everything was okay.

Anuj: Is this the woman you were talking about yesterday? (he showed a photo of Maaya on his phone)

Shop owner: Yes, she is the one. Do you know her already?

Anuj: Sir, do you know where she lives?

Shop owner: No. She comes here every Saturday and Sunday between 3-4 pm. You can ask her when she comes

Anuj murmured, "I don't think she will come today".

Anuj bought some stuff again to donate at the old age home.

Shop owner: Maybe you are the special guest that the woman talked of.

Anuj: She talked about me to you?

Shop owner: Not you per se, she just said a special guest would visit my store.

Anuj sighed. He thanked him and made his way to the hotel.

Maaya reached home to find Sushma waiting for her.

Maaya: When did you come?

Sushma: Yesterday, did you forget that you were supposed to receive me at the railway station? I called you so many times but your phone was not reachable. Where were you? Do you know how worried we were?

Maaya: I am sorry. I had forgotten all about it since last night until now. I am a terrible friend and a terrible mom, aren't I? I left my friend and daughter alone.

Sushma: What happened?

Maaya: Nothing. Where is choti?

Sushma: She is sleeping. She was waiting for you very late at night.

The sound of voices outside the door woke Choti up. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, wondering if her mom had returned. She got out of bed and walked towards the door. As she opened it, she saw her mother standing in the living room.

Choti: Maa (her voice groggy from sleep)

Maaya: Hey there, sleepyhead.

Without a word, Choti walked over to Maaya and hugged her tightly. Maaya hugged her back, feeling the love and comfort in her daughter's embrace.

Maaya: I am sorry, I could not come early.

Choti: It's okay, Maa. I know you had some important work, or else you won't leave me alone.

Maaya nodded, feeling a pang of guilt in her chest. Nowadays she was not able to spend much time with her because of various tasks related to the opening of the help center, which is taking up a significant amount of her time and energy.

Maaya: Choti, I want you to worry as much as a kid around your age.

Choti: What do you mean?

Maaya: "What will happen if I do this?" "I shouldn't do that, right?" "Yes. Let's just put it up with a bit longer" Stop thinking like that. You're not an adult. If you're hurt, tell me that you are. Get upset with me.

Choti: But you're alone. You have to make money alone, and raise me alone too. You have to do everything alone. If I also start complaining..

Maaya: That's why you should tell me everything. We only have each other. Choti, actually, you don't know about this, but I'm like Black Widow or Captain Marvel, the characters you like. I'm as strong as those superheroes.

Sushma: Looks like you both forgot me, even I am there.

Choti: Maa, today you will take me to see that grandma, right? I have made a card for her.

Maaya: We will go next week, beta. I am a little tired today.

Choti: Okay, I will take bath and finish up my project work.

Later in the evening, Choti and her friends gathered at the local park to play games and have fun. They chased each other around, laughing and shouting with glee, while Maaya and Sushma watched from a nearby bench. Maaya was lost in thought, still feeling the emotions from her earlier encounter with Anuj.

As they sat together on the bench, Sushma noticed the sadness in Maaya's eyes.

Sushma: Are you okay, Maaya? Something has happened, right?

Maaya: I'm trying to decide what to tell you first.

Sushma: What have you been hiding from me?

Maaya: I met Anuj.

Sushma: When, where, and how?

Maaya told her about her encounter with Anuj.

Maaya: Why am I being like this? I thought that I have moved on, but meeting him had brought back all the emotions I had tried to bury deep inside. I guess it is because of the snow. This season thing really gets to me. I wish there was only one season, but there are four different seasons. And because all the seasons are so thrilling and beautiful... each season keeps reminding me of him. On some days, he comes with the wind. On other days, it's the flowers that remind me of him... And on some days, it's the rain. I shut my eyes to forget about him, but the memories become more vivid. I'm reminded of him with every breath that I take. I couldn't live because of that. (Maaya paused for a moment) No, actually, I could live because of his memories. I imagined us meeting again, hundreds of times. But what happened yesterday wasn't in any of the scenarios I thought of. It was still nice to see him.

Maaya's eyes filled with tears as she realized the depth of her emotions. Sushma put her arms around her in a comforting hug. "It's okay, Maaya," she whispered.

Anuj had been waiting for what seemed like an eternity outside the shop, hoping to catch a glimpse of Maaya. But he knew that she wouldn't come today. The shop owner came out to throw some waste and noticed Anuj standing there, waiting.

Shop owner: Are you stalking her?

Anuj: No, no. I am not stalking her. Just goodwill.

The shop owner gave him curious looks.

Anuj: We are friends. I lost contact with her and just trying to rekindle the friendship.

Shop owner: Friendship or..

Anuj smiled and the shop owner gave him a thumbs-up sign as he inside the store. As he walked back to his hotel, his phone rang, and he saw Sohit's name on the caller ID.

Sohit: Dude, I am trying to reach you since yesterday. Initially, you were not reachable, and then you weren't receiving. When are you planning to come back?

Anuj: I am staying here for some more time.

Sohit: Is everything okay?

Anuj: I found her.

Sohit: Nice.. Wait, you mean, you found Maaya?

Anuj told him the entire thing.

Sohit: So, what's your plan now? What are you gonna do?

Anuj: For the time being, I will work remotely from here. I was wondering if you could drive my car here and bring some of my files.

Sohit: Drive all the way to Shimla? That's a long journey, man.

Anuj: You can't do this much for me?

Sohit: Stop your drama. I can only come after Friday, till then I am occupied.

Anuj: Cool, thanks. I will text you the location.

In the meanwhile, Anuj continued his daily visits to the old age home, where he spent time with the seniors and listened to their stories. He was amazed to learn how much Maaya had helped them over the years, and it only made him more determined to reconnect with her. He became good friends with the nearby shop owner as well. He tried finding her home address but the old age staff did not provide it without her consent. Whereas Maaya hoped that Anuj has returned and she doesn't have to face him anymore.

Ahaaa, so Maaya is overwhelmed with feelings for Anuj and is in denial. It really feels like all this will culminate in a soulful love story...

Your writing has a lot of grace - you even dissed on ITV serials gracefully - made me laugh!

I had such a huge smile on my face as I read this. You are gifted Pompy. I feel for these characters very much. I'm feeling the pangs of love Maaya is feeling. I don't know why I have been feeling more for Maaya than Anuj. Maybe because Anuj has accepted and decided to go with his feelings while Maaya has tried to bury them inside and feel the pain every day for what could have been😒

I wish makers could bring such depth to their characters.

P.S. have we found someone for Sushma😉

Sushma and Sohit. Good friend of Anuj and good friend of Maaya. Matchmakers bhi, Humsafar bhi. Or am I thinking way too much😆

Such a wonderful turn off events 😍 and beautiful portray of their emotions ! I am newly in love with the characters. Tbh, I never liked Anuj ! He is not a real characters imo - no sane person waits these many years to marry the mere crush from college - people move on . Anyways , thats my rant for another day.
