Please look at the western model. Not only do the actors get paid millions, they have all the power to leave and stop the show. Even incredibly successful shows like The Big Bang Theory, Seinfeld, etc etc all ended in a decade (or just over) because actors walked away because they felt show had no more potential or growth left for them. This despite some studios even offering them over 50 million per year

If you are actually worried about livelihood of actors and staff you will NEVER want a serial to be dragged and continue for long. Look at Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Bad. He is now starring in action movie roles like "Nobody" and has lead role in Better Call Saul at his age of nearly 60! If Breaking Bad had just got extended indefinitely, he would still play a small supporting role instead of starring in his own show and movies. Dont you want Rupali or guarav to be able to explore their entire potential instead of being stuck in nonsense roles and plots for decades?

What if Sarabhai had dragged for decades, would we have RG in Anupama?

What you are saying goes against common sense and how the industry works. Let's take IPL as an example. Why do players keep earning more and more each year? Because they have the flexibility to leave the team and join another team or go back to auction. So if players want more money teams have to either release the players (eg Pandya, Iyer) or give them huge money to be retained ( eg Pant, Jadeja, Kohli, Dhoni). Now imagine if players were stuck with one team with no option to switch. Today ITV actors and staff are bound by unreasonable contracts and have no say in the storyline. Their only escape is low TRP and show ending and i can guarantee many actors are praying for that (I mean look at how muh potential the Baa actress had initially and the kind of lines and screentime she is getting today, completely ruining her potential)

Its actually BENEFICIAL for all actors and staff if a show ends, particularly at its peak. They get more money through new contracts than they get in contract renewal for same show. They have the hype of a successful show so other channels rush to sign them. They have the flexibility to choose only the scripts they want, today if they make RG dance ever episode, RG has no say. Its also grrat for their creativity, playing same character for decades makes any actor stale. Dragging shows only help the greedy executives and give them all the power to treat actors and staff as slaves forever.

True that...but we are still at the starting stage ..it's just now that people have started calling out the problematic content openly as they have a medium to do so... however creating good content especially on itv will take many years...plus the creatives have realised that no matter the quality , people will keep on watching as there is a trp generation ...itne bekaar track aur storyline dikhakar bhi badhiya trp aa rahi, Paisa aa raha...why would they care ?

Thank you so much for explaining my point in a far better way as I'm very bad at explaining.

Yes, I said it. If you have no story left to show them happy and together, just kill them both and take a leap with CA as the lead. I would love to see RG and GK in better shows, maybe some webseries with good plots.

For me, personally, it would be easier to say farewell to my Anu and Anuj rather than see them suffer endlessly like in the current track.

It baffles me how people are still watching such a depressing track and why makers are stretching it so much. They had the audacity to harm the most loved character on ITV and people are continuing to add to their profits by still watching. Like how do you not feel angry.
Rajan Shahi shows are known to have pathetic storylines and depressing tracks which run for years. With Anupamaa they accidentaly created a story beyond their own capabilities so its obvious that they have butchered it by now.

Bold 1- I too have the same wish as you

Bold 2 - completely agree on this

Bold 3 -I too don't understand after all it was Anuj who made the show reach more heights and many are watching the show only for him and no one else and still they went ahead to write the most depressing track for him and because of this track I stopped watching the show since last Monday.

Bold 4 - Totally agree on this point. But these writers are lucky because the fans were giving them track to write, they were sharing ideas on social media but the writers don't want to take them to their advantage at all

A non ITV show that I follow has the writer with the PH doing Q&A every year asking the shows fans to share all the questions they have regarding the story or characters or any special request they have and then the writer adds them to his story in a very beautiful manner and if its something not coming very soon then he assures the fans that they will surely get what they need

Very interesting and nice to see how various thoughts and reactions have come up in this chain.

And, Saito (and others), no hard feelings at all. 🤗

Actually, I think it is very cute to see how passionately our Forumwaasis are coming forth.

At the same time, let me emphasise this: I KNOW 'bad contracts' chain actors (and others in the team) for inordinate lengths of time. I, too, want them to be free to show their multi-versatility.

BUT THIS IS INDIAN TV.

Unless an earthquake (symbolically speaking) moves the makers' grounds profoundly, NO changes are likely to happen - at least not in the forseeable future.
Western models are great but will they find emulation here? Wake up to reality >>> Jobs are hard to come by, also and perhaps particularly so in this industry - make no mistake. And it's better to earn through what you have than to have to wait endlessly with no money coming in.

Even such a big name like Harshad Chopda's carries no weight in the TV industry. He had to wait for years before a role came his way.
OK, perhaps he had the luxury of refusing roles in-between but look what he has got now compared to the great show of Bepanah?
That one sank in such a short span of time, even though it had a terrific plot (at least initially) and super actors. But the storyline went kharab and the timing of telecasting was messed up so badly, it shipwrecked on low TRP.
And we, ardent fans of Harshad and Jennifer, were left orphaned.

Personally, I like Rupali and Gaurav so much I would continue watching this show till the very end. Rather than being orphaned again through their TRP-induced departure.

For again, make no mistake: ITV DOES NOT bring the same jodi again.

We (most, most likely) will not see a JenShad combination again; likewise, GauRup will be lost, once this show will be over.
But for me, the magic they can create, even in a track like the current one, is just something at least I would not want to miss - for as long as they are together.

On the other hand, again: make no mistake. Actors CAN end a contract, on mutual consent and in various special circumstances.
In the case of the actor who first played Samar, that mutual consent was blurred by the plethora of news reports. Did he or did he not talk it through with the makers? We just don't know what went on behind the scenes...
But, of course, nobody is really a slave in the actual sense of the word in this industry. You want to leave, you leave. Yes, there may be legal implications, but they cannot jail or shoot you.

Sorry, for this long reply but I just wanted to clarify some points extra. If my sayings go "against all common sense", so be it. 😊

As it is, whatever we say or do as fans and Forumwaasis will not change the system. IT HAS TO BEGIN FROM WITHIN THE SYSTEM ITSELF. Na?!

I can totally understand your pain dear as I too went through the same but for another show. The plot was perfect, cast were perfect but the channel interfered endlessly in it. The makers did not get their freedom to write the plot the way they wanted to and when the backstory episode got aired towards the end of the show. The fans got so emotional because the story was moving perfectly with perfect twists and interesting tracks and after as lot of request got to know that it was the channels fault that the story lost its plot in between and was forced to shutdown.

But Anupama is different, this show is the No 1 show on ITV right now. So here the makers do have the freedom to write the story in a better way and this show is a remake show and their chances are always high to give the story the best direction but they don't care, For this show you cannot say that there is a track which only belonged to Maan with no Shah involved in it one way or the other, not even their wedding.

If the story is about Anupama then only her journey needs to be shown be it when she was with Vanraj and now when she is with Anuj. When she was with Vanraj her journey was shown perfectly how she stood against him and stood firm on her decision of divorce and getting out of his life as his wife. But after Anuj entering her life the makers always shows her in crossroads between Anuj and Shah's.

Gaurav and Rupali are the best as Maan and no one can replace them. But the makers don't use this to their advantage at all. Vanraj and Kavya had the most romantic sequences in the show be it a trip away or birthday celebration or their alone time it was only their time but for Maan there were none, (apart from Anu's love Confession) because Vanraj and the Shah's and now with the Kapadia's need to be present in it no matter what. They cannot write a parallel track for Shah without making Anu part of it at least for a week.

And this show never had a peaceful week always everyday there is a new issue. This affects the audience who wants to break free from their worries. This is what the makers don't understand

I hope I was able to make my point clear as I do have trouble putting my thoughts in words. And Im only against the writers who don't know how to move the story forward at all. and because of this I actually feel bad for the actors.

Agree.

The producers earn a lot on these long running shows imo... The more it runs they make more and more money with underpaid staffs who are loyal, they can squeeze out maximum profit out of them. While renewing contracts, they can give maybe 10% max hike... whereas a newly introduced senior member would require 40% or 50% of a minimum hike... So the longer they drag, the greater the profit and with audience who would watch anyway because of their love for the leads, you don't even have to put much effort. So less work more money for them.

Dear Saito, You have made your points very clear, some even put brilliantly. You come across as a very humble person. 👏

Isn't it utterly strange we should feel so involved in any serial on Indian TV because, by now, we should know better !!!

Par kya karen? We always look for someone or something nice to cling onto, even though the makers are 🤬

I keep on saying to all who wish TRPs go down: if one doesn't like the show, DON'T WATCH it.
But wishing it fall flat on its face will have severe consequences for so many of the small-time folks in the crew, on the sets.

We just must continue being critical and pound the makers with our observations. But, in the bargain, let's show POSITIVE ways of restructuring a storyline and bringing back some great tracks with MaAn. ⭐️

Thank you so much for your kind words

Bold - Totally agree. And that's the reason why I dont watch ITV series and only watch the ones that interest me and that too once it ends and not ongoing.

Red - This is what the writers should understand and hopefully they fix their mistakes soon
