It is difficult to empathise with any of the characters now because there has been no character development. You sympathise with someone when they have been dealt a bad hand in life and you root for them when they try to better their circumstances. But, what can you even feel for someone who doesn't try to step away from the bad to the good despite having the tools to do it. Doing so is not easy given the years of conditioning involved, but, as a viewer, you would stand behind someone who tries at least. The journey would be one you want to see. An onward journey and not a round trip that is!

Anuj's character has been rendered toothless. Far from being the wind beneath her wings, his own wings have been mercilessly clipped. Husbands can only exist bunched on diametrically opposite ends of a spectrum is the message being shown.

As for the child, Choti Anu, the girl playing her is as cute as a button, but why oh why must she be shown to be a carbon copy of Anupamaa. Does being good include traits that only Anupamaa has?

If nothing else, my take away from this show will certainly be a massacring of the meaning of the word mahaan!

Wiser words have never been spoken Ruch...teri toh gaali bhi poetic hai yaar🤣

I feel bad for little Anu, the girl playing the char is so cute and I hate that they are turning her into another Anupama, bechari bacchi bura phasi.

oh there has to be a dream sequence, where Anu will dance aimlessly and endlessly while Anuj does his SRK bit..its still a bit early for turtlenecks but yeah I wont mind a shirt with top/all buttons undone😳

@bold: just because of him, still hanging by last thread from so many months
Absolutely wish for scenes where only him is present… and he is always sexy 😳no matter what ☺️

@ red: let her dance aimlessly in first half and he do his SRK bit in second half.. apna apna time leke karo.. no sharing screen space 🤪

@green: yeh bhi bolne ki baat hai ki u don’t mind unbuttoned shirt 🤣

She just found out that the husbands, ex and current have both fallen off a cliff and it may be fatal and what does she do? recite a frikkin poem! like who tf does that? so darn out of place was the shayari and her saying it, when did she turn a shayar?🤔 I cringed when she said najar🤬

TBH even Anuj’s poems were worthy only when he yearned for her, now they are pretty much mundane and pointless no matter how beautifully he recites them…

Of course mine is usually the unpopular opinion but I cannot sympathise with Anupama anymore, infact I stopped doing so ever since she asked to be an integral part of the Shah family when she had no reason to…yes her children are a part of that household but she could easily manage her relationship without having the constant urge to meddle in their lives in the garb of her love for her maayka.

It just comes down to her strong and persistent need to feel mahaan and she’s ruined Anuj’s life in the process…Long gone are the days when anything Anuj said made sense or wasnt Anupamafied, he’s a lost cause and I feel nothing for his character.🥲

I have no sympathy for him, cause he is only playing a catalyst to Anupama transitioning into another goddess of sorts. I wished and hoped better for Anuj but it wasn't meant to be, he’s reduced to a mere prop now, like literally …

She can call him the hero but even she knows who the real hero is and its not Vanraj, he’s another victim if you ask me…That said, V will emerge as the hero or rather the sidekick again and will be by her side in her ordeal of bringing Anuj back to life with her undying love(yeah whatever😏) and dedication like she claims….

We will soon witness another whitewashing rinse and repeat cycle of acche pita and bada aadmi as he will kiss(forehead wali hi sahi)her woes away. Anuj na kabhi hero tha na hoga and we must stop hoping and make do with this arrangement...

I do feel bad for little Anu who is falling prey to her so called doting parents’ love to please others, Anuj shouldnt have adopted her when he knew Anupama’s heart wasnt entirely in it…he has only made it worse for the little girl.

Alright. this has turned out rather long and whingy… I’ll save the rest for another day perhaps…

Please feel free to disagree, looking forward to a good discussion!

Haha Hinz did you get something for increasing the forum activity?

The forum has been dead as the show has fallen in storyline and execution. It still is strong for TRP audience, but obviously lower than expected.

It is also hard to root for the characters, hence I am now indifferent to the show.

well, i guess i'm back from my self-imposed exile, but i'm glad it's for this post. you made some really good points, hina.

when you say that Dadaji is the victim... of what? upbringing? parents? society? himself? 😆 i hate him, but im open to hearing an empathic view of his situation.

anupamaa is mostly is a victim of poor writing and a sloppy character sketch. It's hard to make any conclusions there because they flip her around so much - the only constant I see is her "bond" to the Shahs.

I don't know how Rupali gets into the skin of the character each day, cuz it seems like scene after scene is a contradiction. 😕

anyways, year-to-date, here are a couple of things that i think are the wrong message:

1) a new man can heal the damage your ex did

2) it's ok to get divorced, as long as you're still providing domestic/emotional support

3) If you are contemplating divorce, vowing to remain active in your ex's family is a way of softening the blow

4) years of a life-long crush will always culminate in a "happily ever after"

5) and the worst one : that Anuj fulfilled his purpose in life by becoming Anupamaa's husband 🤢

@ bold 1 - of Anupama ..she’s made his pathetic life worse by making him the villian eveytime, not that he isnt but xhe makes him pay for a lot more than he earned.

never thought I’d feel sorry for the mooch but even V is shown to have some standards atp

@bold 2- Anuj still feels he lacks dedication, what a sore loser! if marrying Anupama was his sole purpose in life then deal with it, serves him right😳

As for Rupali, I believe it’s her job, she does it and gets payment like any regular person who works to get money even if the work sucks.

p.s. i wanted to help you fight Tiana earlier but i was scared & selfish that would someone would ogle bicep while i was distracted. im sorry i let you down A. 😔

I second you, I actually kept pushing the skip button. Also despite the acting, something is off, can't connect with anyones pain.

Oh, how much can I blame the ckt when it is the writers who need a reality check. Are ideas nahin hai tho puch lo, do an survey. When I see RWSP, I see how GuRuP promoting Maan to show makers to divert story towards their journey, which also leads to Anus growth instead of stupidity.

The Shayari and dancing needs to stop. Every episode there is either an OTT dancing or an OTT Shayari. Seems like Bhavna does not have the ability to write mature conversations between a mid aged couple so she just keeps adding dancing and shayaris in MaAn scenes. The original had loads of heart to heart conversations. Bhavna can at least copy paste.

Anu's shayaris were so out of place. Who recites a poem sitting at the edge of a cliff knowing your husband has fallen from the cliff. Lol I would have at least tried to climb down the cliff regardless of the danger it posses.

CA is a very irritating and unrealistic character. She has not a single characteristics of a kid. Her attachment towards Shahs is so cringe. I like the child artist but sorry her character is a big NO.

The writers can't let go of the fact that Anu was once a Shah Bahu. Even in this tough time she is concerned about Baa Bapuji's medicines. Like WTH.

It's so sad that the serial which was supposed to be a fight against domestic violence has ended up glorifying domestic violence. The only thing consistent in this show is Anupama's devotion towards Shah family when all she should have had is downright disgust for them.

She said a shayari at the edge of the cliff... why😲Well good thing they didn't make her dance in sadness else we would have had another paralyzed patient... which I am guilty to say... I would have enjoyed having to watchWondering who would do the crying if she falls too.. Maybe the little girl? After all she is also Anu...

By the way do you think the little girl will make a good mother? After all she doesn't have 'Maa' in her name😔
