As the clock struck 8, she rushed in with a tray holding a bowl in her arms. He looked at her and smiled
"Hey hey... it's OK if you come late by 5 minutes... you really don't have to follow the diet schedule so strictly..."
"Keep quiet... you have already done so much harm by not listening to me... Now you will do as I say."
He smiled thinking how much he liked it when she behaved all wife-like to him. As the thought registered he mentally face palmed. It must be those stupid medicines, he thought. He was now unable to differentiate fantasy and reality. Breathing in to clear his mind, he observed her setting the bed table and placing a bowl of porridge on it.
"Porridge again? Anu...?"
"Didn't I just tell you that you are supposed to keep quiet and listen to me... Now eat without complaining..."
He sighed and stirred the porridge.
"Did you eat..?"
"No, no... I will eat after sometime..."
"Why don't you eat now?"
"No... No... I... uh..."
"Anu... bring your dinner let's eat together..."
"It's ok Anuj... I will eat later..."
"It's not okay... Bring your dinner, Anupama..."
His firm voice made her realize that she had already lost the argument. Sighing she went to the kitchen and came back with a bowl. He looked surprised.
"What is this?"
"My dinner... what else? I know you won't eat until I eat..."
"But why don't you have it in a plate?"
"Who has porridge in a plate?"
"Porridge?"
"Yea.."
He felt his breath hitch as he realized she was sharing the same diet as his.
"Anu... did you eat porridge today for breakfast and lunch too?"
"Of course..."
"Why? You did make fried rice for GK and Toshu right? You could have eaten that"
"How can I when you are eating such tasteless..."
She stopped and bit her cheek as she saw his intense gaze on her. His eyes devoured her face as it turned a wonderful shade of red. Taking a deep breath, she pursed her lips and looked up in his eyes.
"You talk too much... See its already 5 minutes past 8 and you have not yet started eating..."
He nodded silently and took the spoon. His heart beat wildly as the little fantasy of her being his wife... the one that he just had, played right in front of his eyes.

Glad that everything was in place and the kitchen was as clean as she desired, she decided to call it a day. As she walked into the room her eyes fell on a small tiffin box on the dressing table. She opened it to see it filled with her favorite Basundi. A little note was attached to it
'Thank you for sharing the tasteless porridge. Something tasty before you go to bed :)'
She held the note close to her thumping heart as her mind weaved fantasies of something... or rather a spectacled someone more tasty than Basundi... someone who now occupied all of her brain... someone named... Anuj Kapadia.
