Sorry replying in a single one for both the posts today. Gonna stick to reading for the day as I don't have anything worthy enough to contribute.

Today's episode was a hard hitting one and I'm so proud that a prime time, highest trp garner of a show is showing the important.

I agree with you both regarding Vanraj. He needs to be kept out by the writers now when they have a highly sensitive topic to deal with. His presence in the precap was enough to scratch the 20 min well presented episode.

Haven't watched the epi yet but will. The thing with IPV (intimate partner violence) is that the physical scars heal but the ones on your psyche remain long after.

Different people experience different after effects but even a comparatively mild drunken episode of mild violence can leave deep shame and disgust with oneself - feelings of "How did I let this happen to me?" This is especially applicable to us the "educated lot" who grow up w these ideals of feminism, feel they will never take shit. And then when it happens the whole subconscious indoctrination into patriarchy, the social normative structure results in feelings of stigma, shame, and pain and makes for a poisonous combination of maintaining the silence. Unfortunately can vouch for it.

Not sure how they ll show Mukku's story but IPV is usually a vicious circle. The abuser either overcompensates and apologises profusely, giving all kinds of excuses, gifts, even gentle lovemaking or blames the victim for "inciting" him. The victim kind of buys into the story esp if v young and inexperienced with relationships. And then the cycle repeats -;violence followed by "make up,". followed by violence. The victim feels unbalanced all the time, treading on eggshells.

The psychological violence Anu was put through was pretty brutal and needs to be called out. Just because Vanraj didn't hit, doesn't lessen her pain.

Hopefully they ll show some nuance in Mukku's case:

1) Why didn't she walk out when it happened first?. She had a supportive family in Anuj and GK.

2) Why didn't she call 911 since in the US unnediate help would have arrived?

3) what personal, interpersonal (w Anuj, the abusive a@#hole) issues prevented her from seeking help?

And yeah ..pls no Vanraj in helping her deal w this. We need to see professional therapy, medication, familial support first AND only then perhaps an Anuj replica kinda romantic partner.

The remainder epi states many facts of domestic abuse that we already know but are we really consciously aware?? Each one of us will have to someday face this truth coz today its your neighbor, house help, teacher, friend's mom..tomorrow its our mothers, sisters and friends and one day its going to be YOU.. I was 9 years old when I threw boiling milk and hit my mom's abuser with the same pan. Strength doesnt find you in noise, it holds you by your spine in the silent whisper that says "This will not be my story" .This epi leaves you with an after taste of shame, guilt, helplessness and most imp rage!!

I'm an Aneri fan through and through and still got goosebumps by the way she enacted the scene. Stole the entire episode for me atleast and it breaks my heart that there are so many out there struggling to get a fair life.

Heart wrenching is all I can say about today episode, Aneri was 👏👏

Anuj's self blame tendencies affect him deeply and really push him to extremes, I remember the episode where he blamed himself for Anu's horrible experience with marriage as he could not confess his feelings in time, on top of that life has been very cruel to him, being adopted in first place and then accidentally hi sahi but being trigger to the events causing both parents death, unacknowledged love for years and to make it worse a judgement failure that put his kid sister through hell, how is he containing it all within...

Having said that I absolutely hate it when shows use such topics as mere drama creating tricks and TRP drawing baits for few episodes, and not address the real issue in correct sense, so I might skip this track or watch only in bits and pieces.
