Part 4

The next day Anuj arrived at Anu's house and rang the bell excitedly. He still couldn’t believe that he was now engaged to Anu, it all felt like a dream to him, one he never wanted to wake up from. Asha opened the door and he greeted her and took blessings from her.

He had just taken a seat on the couch when Anu rushed out saying “sorry sorry sorry woh mujhe aaj der hogai. Main ab tayyar houn to hum chal sakte hain.. hum chalte hain maa..” She started to rush towards the door when Anuj grabbed her hand and stopped her “ruko Anu, pehle saans to lelo.. naashta kiya hai tumne?” he asked her gently.

Anu who had calmed down as soon as Anuj held her hand looked down guiltily and said “woh der ho rahi thi to issi liye nashta nahi kiya..”

Asha who was also always worried about Anu said “yeh har roz aisa hi karti hai beta, khali pet hi college chali jaati hai aur pata nahi wahan kuch khati bhi hai ya nahi.. meri to bilkul bhi nahi sunti, hamesha jaldi mein rehti hai yeh larki.”

Anuj smiled at the cute pout on Anu's face and said “hamare paas time hai Anu, tum pehle please nashta karlo, uske baad mere paas tumhare liye ek surprise hai papa ki taraf se.”

Anu’s beautiful smile returned hearing him and she agreed to eat only if he would eat something as well. Since Anuj already had breakfast at home he agreed to have some tea with her instead. After making sure that Anu had had a proper breakfast they both left saying bye to Asha.

Anu started looking for Anuj’s bike as soon as they came out but saw a brand new car instead. He smiled and said “yeh car papa ki taraf se hamari engagement gift hai Anu, hum dono ke liye. He surprised me with it this morning. Kaisa laga tumhein?”

Anu excitedly held Anuj’s hand while saying “bohot bohot bohot acha hai! I love it. Aap papa ko meri taraf se thank you kehna aur yeh bhi kehna ke mujhe unka surprise bohot acha laga aur main bohot zyada khush houn.”

Anuj opened the door for Anu while saying “haan baba main unhein keh dounga, tum fikar mat karo. Waise bhi as soon as he sees me later woh sab se pehle yehi puchenge ke unki beti ko unka surprise kaisa laga.” As soon as Anuj was seated behind the driver's wheel Anu hesitatingly asked “Aapko bura to nahi laga na Anuj? Woh kal mummy ne kaha he woh meri side mein hain aur aaj papa ne aapka surprise mere saath share kardiya..”

Anuj laughed and said “tum bohot zyada bholi ho Anu aur cute bhi. Pagal chokri, jab tum hi meri ho to mujhe bura kyun lagega? Main tumse kitna pyaar karta houn yeh toh main khud bhi nahi jaanta Anu, lekin meri family, sorry sorry hamari family yeh zaroor jaanti hai ke tum mein meri jaan basti hai. Tum khush rahogi tab hi to main bhi khush reh paounga. Pehle to woh sab tumse sirf isliye pyaar karte the kyunki tum meri pasand thi lekin kal tumse milne ke baad to woh bhi tumhare liye pagal hogaye hain. Tum ho hi itni achi ke kissi ko bhi tumse pyaar hojaye.”

Anu was so lost in the moment that she again spoke without thinking “aap bhi to itne acche hain Anuj, issi liye to main bhi kabse aapse pyaar karti houn..” her eyes widened when she realised what she said and started blushing and stuttering “woh.. matlab.. aap.. aap sab ache hain.. toh..” not knowing what to say she just looked down.

Anuj who had a big grin on his face stopped the car and cupped Anu’s face “meri taraf dekho Anu.. agar pyaar hai to tum mujhse bejhijak keh sakti ho, ismein kuch bhi ghalat to nahi hai na? Hamari sagai hogayi hai, aur bohot jald shaadi bhi hone wali hai.. main chahta houn hum ek doosre ke best friends banke rahe, itne close rahe ke humein kissi aur se apni baatein share karne ki zaroorat hi na pare. Tum kabhi bhi mujhse kuch bhi keh sakti ho, daant sakti ho, maar bhi sakti ho. Main poora ka poora tumhara hi to houn. I know that you are shy isliye tumhein kissi bhi baat ke liye force nahi karounga. Jab tak tum comfortable nahi ho jati hum dost ban kar reh sakte hain. To bolo Anu, mujhse dosti karogi?” Anuj forwarded his hand for her to shake.

Anu smiled brightly and shook his hand saying “aap itne ache hai Anuj ke koi aapko mana kar hi nahi sakta.”

Anuj smiled mischievously and asked “acha ji? Itna acha houn main?”

Anu who lost control of her tongue again said “haan bilkul, bohot bohot bohot zyada ache..” she then realised that Anuj was teasing her and hit him saying “anuj stop teasing me now!”

Anuj laughed and said “acha jaan sorry, ab tang nahi karounga. Ab chalein? College agaya hai.” It was only then that Anu looked around and realised that they had arrived. She tapped her forehead thinking ‘pagal chokri, tu Anuj ki baaton mein itna khogayi ke tujhe pata bhi nahi chala ke college agaya?'

They both got off the car and Anu went to Devika while Anuj went to meet his friends. As soon as Devika saw Anu she squealed in happiness and hugged her tight saying “Anu!!! Main tere liye bohot zyada khush houn. Mujhe apni ring toh dikha!” she raised Anu's left hand high and everyone around them saw the ring and started congratulating her.

One of Anuj’s friends who also happened to be nearby ran to find Anuj when he realised that Anupama got engaged. He was out of breath when he reached the canteen and nearly toppled over. He said “Anuj.. woh.. woh..” Anuj patted his back and said “pehle saans to lele Rajat phir aram se bol. Main yehi houn, kahin nahin jaa raha.” Rajat managed to catch his breath by then and said “uss sab ka waqt nahi hai yaar Anuj! Woh Anu bhabi ki sagai hogai hai. Abhi abhi uski ring dekh kar araha houn.”

All of Anuj's friends held their breath thinking that he will lose his mind any second now but were shocked to see him smile and raise his own hand proudly showing his own ring. Anuj grinned and said “uski sagai mujhse hi hui hai aur ab woh sach mein tum sab ki bhabhi ban gayi hai.”

Rajat punched Anuj’s arm and exclaimed “itni bari baat hogayi aur tune humein bataya bhi nahi? Tu to bhai maanta hai na humein aur humein hi nahi bataya?”

A soft voice replied from behind them “aisi baat nahi hai.. woh kal sab kuch itni jaldi hogaya isiliye Anuj aapko nahi bata paye..” Anuj smiled and turned to his Anu who was defending him. He held her hand and stood next to her while he explained everything to his friends.

Anu then told Devika “sach mein agar tu nahi hoti toh hum aaj ek nahi ho pate. Sab ke paas tumhari jaisi ek friend to hona hi chahiye. We are very lucky ke tu hamari dost hai.” Both the girls got emotional and hugged each other.

Anuj said “arey bas bas, tum dono toh kuch zyada hi emotional hogayi ho. Ab sab theek haina toh humein khush hona chahiye. Tum sab ko hamari shaadi mein zaroor ana hai. Mehmaan bankar nahi balki family banke sab kuch sambhalna hai, especially Anu ki taraf se. Jaise hi date fixed hogi hum bata denge sabko.”

All their friend decided to split into two groups to help both Anuj’s and Anu’s families with the wedding which was going to be a grand affair considering how affluent the Kapadia’s were.

I just can't seem to stop writing about these two! All these ideas are just going round in my head..
