It's coz she was busy grooming her hubby , looking after his children, family etc . Even in other version original show Anuj looks younger than anu and same is followed here. If they had selected Ronit or Ram Kapoor then it would have been boring. This jodi looks unique and have message also. That's how love , marriage should be . Just because one of the partner is looking sick ,old does not mean we leave and go , criticise them or have affair . If their is love ,respect between two ppl then they will stick to each other in any circumstances and however they look.

I also agree partners have to look good if not for themselves but for sake of their spouse who may be interested in all this things and if they encourage and support also you in this process then one should try but here Anupama was just criticised by all then where and how will she understand ? May be after Anuj comes to her life and after getting married she will understand all this. Though he will love her more for being herself but Anupama will understand how it's also important to look after oneself also along with family, husband

I totally agree with you... I was wrong when I was thinking she looked old... you’ve said it right.... so what if she looked old? My thinking was so wrong here... why can’t a woman look older than guy? Why it always have to other way around... it reflects how shallow thinking we have... why in our society, women needs to look younger than their husbands.., there are many women married younger guy such as neha kakkar and Priyanka chopra...

In all honestly, I don't understand the obsession with looking young. Even if she looks older than him, why is it such a big deal? One should look put together, agreed. But the need to look younger and more 'age appropriate' (a term I never understood) is unnecessary. All these pressures on women to look put together all the time comes from years of Indian television showing women look glamorous no matter what the circumstance. Isi liye toh itne saalo mein actresses ke kapde improve hue lekin unke characters nahi.

People with age differences get together all the time. It isn't such a big deal. Unn dono ki compatibility personalities ki honi chahiye. Also, Anuj and Anupamaa have lived two completely different lives. The abuse, the unrealistic expectations, the constant emotional and physical labour she's put forward, and continues to do so, shows on her face. Also, let's not forget she had a tumor in her body. And she takes medication to keep her cancer at bay. ALL of the above take a toll on your physical appearance. Her appearance is the only realistic thing in this series. Once she starts leaving her past behind, it will show in her physical appearance. But that will take time. Unlearning abuse is extremely tough, especially with people continuously gaslighting you. I am hoping that Anuj's presence in her life betters her mental health and in turn the way she lets her family treat her. THAT would be real progress. And that is way more important than her wardrobe or her learning to speak English.

Anyone who has seen other versions?

Do they know if Anuj lives/starts living in shah house too or not?

Also how was his behavior? Did he became doormat or pretty stern with his decisions??

People complaining about anupama looking older than her years have most likely missed the starting promos of vanraj telling her she looks older than her real age and needs to maintain herself and have also most likely mistaken this show as some sort of romantic drama where two people fall in love and their romantic journey together is captured. The show is about a middle age woman's journey to re-discovering herself after years of abuse and trauma and the transition from the present anupama who cries and is overwhelmed at the slightest mishaps and looks soo much older to a self confident, emotionally capable woman that knows she needs to take of herself is what this story is all about and that is what we are here to watch

If people are just going to judge her for her dresses and need middle aged women dressing up in fashionable clothes or a hit romantic pairing with lots of chemistry then a lot other itv shows will be a better option than this.

I saw some clips in Bengali version though I don't understand the lang there also age mismatch is there but they look good together

Here the promo is refreshingly good. Happy to see some change in the story was so sick of rakhi kavya and their noises. This is like a breath of fresh air and I'm happy 😁😁.

Arey yar! I just wanted refreshing look for anupama just like her blue Anarkali dressing! That’s it ! Currently she looks tired all the time and unnecessary aging is there too.

Yeh jo bhi apne sab likha hai woh Muje bhi pata hai but as a viewer refreshing look expect karna bhi galat nahi hai .

I am not saying make her ultra modern , chopped her hair, ask her to wear western cloths etc . It was just new refreshing and elegant looks which they had given her during dance competition.

Nor do I think she will get one. If lucky occasionally audiences might get one in future like she got salwar during dance competition and in bengali version lead never got make-over and she looks mature than Anuj and he likes her so . This is makers way to show difference between two men in the show and if audiences are lucky Anupama herself may try to change her looks and look better after falling for Anuj and starts taking care .
