hahaha😆...I know, right? that's what muma misses most about india, the maids lolz! its cuz she has to do all the housework here, eventhough I pitch in alot. she's like "india jao, tho ek maid ko kaam par rakhlo aur khud kuch aur karo! yeh America mein kya khasiyat hai?? saara din jhaadoo/pocha! ek mundu (maid) hi bane raho zhindagi bhar!😡" i was just 😆😆😆 but then i told muma that its good to be self-sufficient than to be dependent on someone you're paying to do the same thing that you could easily do yourself!😉😆 of course, i can understand where she's coming from too cuz she's post-menopausal so its alot for her to do now. there are some kids that are my age that are sooooo domestically clueless, and there are also some that work, help out at the house, and go to school/college as well. i went a lil off-topic there lolz, but you get the idea. and as far as the reason goes for me missing india, i haven't been there in 11years!!!! its sheer torture man!! i promised myself one thing though, that whenever i get done with college, the first thing i'm doing is taking a flight to humara bharat mahaan!😃😉😆

it is not just ADHM . Whenever you look at any film, drama, soap, the NRIS are portrayed as wannabees white or modern or just ghetto ,but , in truth, the NRIs first and second and third generation are more Indian then some gals and boys raised in India

Here the parents try their level best to teach their culture, religion, values and morals to their childre and stay involved. something that is fast disappearing in India ..

The so called ABCD children are proud of their heritage and proud to act like Indians..My cousin 14 yr old went back home with his dad and every one was so surprised that he was better mannered than kids brought up in India, with proper etiquettes and tehzeeb .insisted on speaking hindi and wearing Kurta Pajama instead of jenas stuff

The folks who have wanna be syndrome , are more in the east than the west and likely ridden with inferiority complex --

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING... people here are more passionate about preserving culture than people in India . no one wants to be a ghetto guy , which is what youngsters in INdia do . ..every one dresses in desi outfit whenever they get a chance. every one tries to mingle with other desis to keep the cultural values intact

They are very hard working, very goal oriented and very straightforward, as the culture in USA is honesty and straightforwardness. ..we don't lie ,cheat or deciet in our every day lives. children know what sexual harrassment is . and don't make untoward advances.. and they are so hardworking, they don't have time to go out and party /champagne etc

I AM JUST SICK OF STEREOTYPING ALL NRIS ..THIS IS NOT US ..

i totally agree with... we work more hard then people in india..... i start working when i was 17 and now i am 20..... but i made a last visit to india in 2004.... my cosuins were shocked that i go to college and also work.... but in tv and in moive they show that NRI's kids are spoil....😕..... i rember watching the movie like .... pardes...the guy apurva,.... . a ab laut chalen.... they show ... suman ... being spoil.... i don't i am like her from any angle....😡🤢......... the latest movie how can i forget that ... kabhi alvida na kahna..... karan johar said in his interview that ...the movie is based on NRI having affair.... cuz he can't even think that indian man can cheat on there wifes...🤢.. 😡 what the hell... i haven't seen any one doing that here,..... we might go to parties once in a while but with parents permission...😳😳.... but drinking,....... smoking....🤢 hello...... we undersatnd our responsiblity...... 😳😳

I totally agree with this post. Cheers to you guys for sticking up for us NRIs. I will tell you...us indians in US have more values and traditions then typicall indian bahoos. For example, I moved here when i was 9. I went to india and got married to my hubby at 19...and it was arranged. My inlaws live with us and I love them. They are my parents not his parents, that is the mentality I have which was passed on to me by my mother. She always said that if you want your mother in law to treat you like a daughter not daughter-in-law..then you must do the same. I cook 3 meals a day, clean my house, drop off lunch and dinner at my hubby's workplace..and take care of my parents and my son. AND work full time 40 hours a week..although I work from home. but tell me that an indian bahoo in India does this daily...Oh let me also add the fact about running other errands such as laundry, shopping (grocery), ironing etc..which are my weekends.
I have a bhabhi who was born and raised in india, she does NOTHING...my poor mother has to do everything..and there are other friends, whose wives came from india and their inlaws live in a separate house miles down the road...cuz they want to have their privacy...so where are the values?
I absolutely have television portraying NRIs as of a loose character and also..hate it even here that when they show anythign about India..it is usually poverty and not the good side of the country..
SORRY for the long post..but this topic has gotten me very excited..

that is sooooooooooo true...

well u guys all absolutely right............i also don't get it why they potray NRI's like that......well in fact we love and respect our country more than ever.....specially after living in other country you tend to love and respect your country more and more and would like to keep culture and values alive. I'm not saying that there aren't people like samay........but in this serials mostly they show that NRI's are like samay kind only.......and people in india will believe what they see in these t.v. serials.....and i totally hate that. I would say come here and have a look how we keep our cultre and values alive with total faith in it not to just show people!!!!!!!! 😉

i agree stereotyping nris is disgusting...maybe to some extent its true but im 18 yrs old born n raised in usa for my whole life, and i am just as close to my culture as any other indian...im also a guju too and me and my friends always get excited this time of the year for garba and diwali...i love gettin dressed into indian outfits eventhough they mite be unconfortable...im also ndn movie junkie n like watchin some ndn shows whenever i get chance...yes i admit there is times when me and my friends would go to club to dance and drink..but none of my friends or I did anything that would make us or our family look bad...no offence but when i did came to india in 04 and i was shocked to see how ppl are worse there..i went to movie theater and there was so many ppl making out and in the park...i never seen any ndns here making out heree so my point is that there are some disgusting ppl out there but it is just wrong to blame it on nris...

Hi, I agree with your post, but this line in particular is so true. I've also been in the US for a very long time and I live with my in-laws and feel the same way. BUT I have a sis-in-law who was born and raised in India and she's all about "my privacy"!
