Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting in the advice corner. I am interested in learning the Spanish language and I wanted to know if any of you know the language to give me advice on how I should approach it. I am feeling ambivalent because I want to learn it online but on other hand I am not sure if I'll be successful in learning the language through an online program. If you guys have any advice to offer I will appreciate it.

Thank you,

Happe

I know Spanish, I took it for 4 years in High School and successfully completed those few years.

Spanish is an interesting language, somewhat similar to English. Some words are false cognatives though and they are most annoying because you think they mean what they sound like but they don't. Like Libraria sounds like it's library but it's actually a book store.

Anyway, one approach my high school teacher had was making up stories in Spanish. Of course you have to learn the basic grammar. But then we would have like 5-6 words a day and then as a class we would make our own story using all those words.

It's really helpful because even at times if you forget the word, the context of the story reminds you the meaning.

I would say don't take Spanish online. In my final year, I took AP Spanish online and it was a nightmare. Really tough and hectic. Take it in a classroom. It will be more beneficial.

To learn any language better, you need to do three things.
1. Read
Read as much as you can.
2. Listen
Listen to well-made documentaries and to people that are native speakers of the language.
3. Speak
Speak with people that are fluent in the language, preferrably native speakers.
It is only a matter of time before you master any language. Thanks.
