My little girl likes to pluck pretty flowers on her way back form school, for me. I always suggest she pick fallen ones instead of plucking from plants, but only after lavishly praising the floral gift. It is working - she looks for fallen but not bruised ones now, and is always late getting home 😊.
I have always maintained that while RS is a good man he is not a good father, and I stand vindicated today. A mature man should be able to appreciate the intention behind the act, even if he disagrees with the execution of it. And any father knows comparisons between siblings are a parenting no-no, they can hurt feelings and undermine confidence even create mutual resentment. RS is doing to Anuj exactly what Manju did to Simi - unfavourably compare with her son, which explains Simi's craving to please Mummy and feeling of inadequacy when she can't.
RS could have emotionally thanked Anuj for his gesture. Later he could have told Anuj that this will hurt Anita so they should redeem the kangans and together find another way to raise funds. RS could have lagaoed some senti line like 'bahu toh ghar ki lakshmi hai aur uske gehne ghar ki izzat' (can't take credit, saw this on another show 😆). Thus 2 birds with 1 stone - bond again with Anuj and show that Anita matters as the bahu.
