We begin today by reversing the order of the usual synopsis from this end ...

The Calderas du Jour

That a mother should have so abjectly divested herself of a sense of social propriety as to be openly confrontational and vitriolic towards a guest - one who is a member of the extended family and being an in-law should be afforded special consideration. Unthinkable! While the prevalent culture on the subcontinent has never advocated, taught, or displayed the panoply of gestures that form the corpus of social civilities in this part of the world (hence the existence here of Emily Posts, Dear Abby's and Ms. Manners), misbehavior to the extent displayed my Momma S. has hardly ever been expected much less condoned. Intolerable!

That neighbors - ably abetted by the family's close relations - would have the temerity to enter a household to tar and feather the family with such abandon! That rocks be thrown through windows at the perceived transgression of the social order (What?! how was the earlier KB 1/12 Sweeetttie's affair handled?!)! That a horde would barge in to demand an explanation that concerns them not in the least! That nobody should think to call the authorities to put an end to the barbarism! Unbelievable!!

That a sister should upbraid another because she is incapable of differentiating between the gravity of their respective actions! That there should be yet another case of selective amnesia - the false assertion that her 'intended' was specifically 'forbidden' from advocating his eligibility before the family! Incredible!

The other parts

Other than the faux pas where in an uncharacteristic display of patriarchy, Poppa S unequivocally states that his was the final word in all matters at KB 1/2, his being a resolute man is going to have far reaching and positive effects. Simi is homing in on the small kernel of strength that has so far eluded her - thanks to an overbearing mother - but to suggest that it finally began to reveal itself as a result of her face-off with the thugs is inaccurate. No adult person in any situation of harm would fail to fight back! That is built-in into our behavioral system. No ... I think her confidence increases as a result of the triad that is beginning to cohere into her support system - Abhi, RS, and Mili and the consequent approbation and reassurance ... Ah! That we should all have such allies!

Dolly Chaachi and Surinder Chaacha need another overseas trip ... clearly they learnt naught about social practices elsewhere ... that too in the 21st century ... the daily reporting by the media of scandal and other excesses of far more brutality never prick the pangs of conscience and outrage as that of an older woman marrying a mere child!!! A child!!! At 22!!! Amazing!!!

aaaaaw! and i was thinking of showing it to my mom as acceptable behavior twds the in-laws. u just poured thanda thanda pani over my hopes of "inspiring" my mom .......... how could u dipa, how could u do that to awsum me?? 🥺

how thoughtful of her to so conveniently sit on the soft comfy sofa and then faint........ she saved them the hassle of hospital ke chakkar. The last time i fainted and fell, i ended up with ct scans and mri's but then im so inconsiderate as opposed to mommy sethi who finds a comfy sofa and then faints or makes sure there are a bunch of ppl around to save her n then threatens to poison herself.

If she does have "hysterical seizure disorder" (did i get the name right?) as has been suggested by rani, then do u suppose its a learned behavioral disorder. Just imagine the fun I can have with it if i can learn it 😆

o god u want logic again?? arre baba they are going to turn neetu if not white then atleast a lighter shade of gray and methinks the disgusted faces she makes are just bad acting on her part. she's supposed to have an indifferent or " hah! take that simidi" expression but just ends up looking like shes i dunno.......... disgusted/constipated or...........

i was also thinking abt this while dealing with a 14yr old who thinks she atleast 44 and a 12 yr old who agrees with her. 😆

I'm again recommending a strong dose of reading to help dispel the myths that run amok in such brains and wreak such havoc ...

like vancouverite, im not too sure abt this. did i happen to mention exhibit A who has studied here in the US where u need to write all those essays n stuff unlike india where ur not really required to produce original work unless ur at iit 😃

I think the Sunshiners should take a page out of my proposed saga to help bring this potentially sinking ship back to the shores of sanity ... perhaps her resolve as shown in the preview of the next episode will bring in that long awaited gust of fresh air ... and before long we can all collectively ask 'Anita WHO??!!!'

Yeah! Of late, I'm finding that on a number of threads mine's the last (unread?) response ... so I had already discussed the idiocy of this by wondering how/why a whole bottle of 'poison' was stashed away in the armoire/closet, and did it come with a recommended dose: 'instant death- whole bottle'; 'slow excruciating death - one teaspoon every 4 hours' 😕

well atleast the bottle didnt have POISON written on it in perm marker like it does in tv/movies......... i wonder ki aise bottles such mein hote hain kya.

Yeah .. I know ... she shed her Jhalli skin a bit too fast ... but we've all been wondering how much time has elapsed since she last saw Mr. '2 murgi, 12 ande' ... I think they, the Sunshiners, need to do a better job of having more parallel threads rather than getting bogged down in one until it reaches an 'obvious' conclusion ... I mean they could have interjected an episode or 2 with Abhi reporting to work and a few more clandestine romps in the park before they got all hot and heavy with Moms on a tirade like bulls in a China shop ...

Abhi will go to work when Naa-kool returns or when simi is there to kiss him goodbye and wave till he gets out of sight. Do ppl actually do that in real life?? i mean the dudes only going to work, hes going to call a couple million times during the day to tell u which lane u need to drive in or sumthin equally "important". Isnt it more normal to warn the husband to not disturb ur beauty sleep just because he has a 6AM start to his day rather than stand there waving with a sappy smile??

Original work at IIT? Do they do graduate level work at the IITs? I ask because, even most PhDs here in the US are not strictly speaking, original, much less any papers/projects at the undergrad level ...

yeah they do grad level work at iit ......... and its supposedly easier to get into grad school there, tho i seriously doubt it.
