she feels that her husband is always riding hard on his son..even when he throws his son out, she feels that what he did was uncalled for, because he is the ghar ka beta, after all
One would think that she forgives her son forgiven the solely on the criterion of he being the son ... but ... in one of the episodes from just this past week (?) she actually has the gall to suggest to her husband that there must have been 'compelling circumstances' (uski koi mujboori hoye gi!!!) that led Anuj to burglarize his father's bank account!!!! Go back and listen to what she had to say!!! She hasn't, to the best of our knowledge, confronted her darling Anuj to understand why he did what he did!! I mean ... all of a sudden she has no allegiance to her husband, who, at least in her Matarani's book, is her lord and master ... and she such a stickler for obeying the rules of her insular world ...
Now, all of this is, if nothing else, a serious breach on the part of the production team to show an individual with no understanding of reality!!
proving that Love can not only be blind, but deaf and dumb as well
Should one characterize such an emotion as 'love'? I suppose so ... some degraded form perhaps ... it's more like blind obsession ...

Nah ... if anyone, it may be Anuj who turns into Momma S ... Simi's in much better company with her MY Abhi to be influenced so adversely ...

If Simi is gonna be influenced by MY abhi then why not anuj by anita?? 😆

Besides, how long do you think Manju is going to sulk? She hasn't a clue about the volcanic eruption that's in the offing - Neetu and her paramour (who cannot live without her), so, when that hits the streets, she's going to wake up awful pronto quick and stop behaving like a meathead ... that's got to happen next week,

why do i think that somehow shes gonna find a way to blame Simi for it??

we count on our family's support because they are the only ones to love us unconditionally..and censure from them, especially when their support is needed comes as a shock to us..

how true

Mater S does not seem to realize this..she feels that there is something wrong in her upbringing where her eldest is concerned..because this is a matter that will affect their STANDING IN THEEEE SOCIETY...

Why only the eldest?? y not the younger daughters?? Does she blame Simi because she takes it lying down and the others wont?? She doesnt blame the son ever, that much i can kinda understand as there are people in our society who think the world of their absolutely unworthy sons.
Perhaps they are showing it this way because after a while she is suddenly going to see the light and realize her son is a useless wimp and its her daughters who are the true "society mein naam roshan karne waale chiraag"

Being in complete denial abt the shortcomings of the object of ur adoration cannot really be characterized as love ( of either the platonic or non-platonic variety) ........... recognizing and accepting them but being able to look past these shortcomings....... perhaps can be called love and maybe this is what they mean when they say "love is blind" yadda yadda yadda

Not true! At least you should hope so ... you want your super awsum child (who does not take after you even tho' she has 1/2 your genes) to turn out like you? 😃
man! wotta turnaround......... i seem to recall a conversation not too long ago abt an apple not falling too far from the tree 😃

No turnaround at all! Not all genes inherited from both parents are simultaneously expressed! Some are recessive, some dominant and the whole shabang depends on whether there are homozygous or heterozygous instances ... and added to that, is the influence of 'the environment'. So in your case, your super awsum child may have taken some of the 'awsumness' from you but that does not mean that the 'super' half of this trait does not come from her 'father' ... as time progresses, one hopes that all your shortcomings are 'recessive' in her case and so she won't turn out to be fruitcake like you (but I hope she keeps your insane sense of humor)!! 😃
Now, with our friends at KB 1/2, Anuj and Neetu have Momma S.'s dominant nutty genes which makes them prone to bouts of idiocy while the other girls did not inherit that same complement ... elementary Dr. Watson!

how convenient!
Not a shred of truth to that accusation! Not convenient in the least! These are plain cold facts ... it's all about probability my dear ... all about probability ...
Yasu, stop showing that streak of obduracy that is so characteristic of people from the subcontinent! When I carry on so, you have to pretend that you are in my Paathshala and learn from it! 😆 😆
Why only the eldest?? y not the younger daughters??
Daarrrling ... you think she's going to jump up and down with joy and distribute mithai in the neighborhood when she finds out about Neetu??!! Like, maybe she'll announce 'my daughter's having a baby!!' and then a second later have a 'V8 moment' with 'Aw shucks, I forgot, she ain't married yet!!! And like, this is India not Iceland ... Holy smokes, what did I just say?!!!' ... evidently 80% of births in Iceland are 'illegitimate' & there's no resulting stigma!!
If you recall, in front of her, even Mili can be bent into submission ... recall when she was trying to sneak out of the house for the rendezvous with her shining star of a sun, and demands that Mili get her behind up to the 'chhutt' to hang the laundry out to dry ... NOW?!
If Simi is gonna be influenced by MY abhi then why not anuj by anita??
Butbutbut .... dumdum ... I was saying that Anuj could be influenced by a woman - his mum! And FOR THE LAST TIME, let's get this straight about Abhi's rightful owner - IT'S ME!!! DID YOU HEAR?!!! OR DO I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF?!!!

i guess i can add in an 'ooo di ur so right i completely bow down to ur superior judgement and agree with everything u say...... sp. when u say things that make not an iota of sense'........... but u've forbidden us to call u 'di' 😆
i love the phrase 'argumentative indian' ........ even tho im sure amartya sen meant it in a completely diff. context 😃

didnt say that....... but shes not shown berating the younger ones. Simi is belittled by the mom for everything........ she scolds the other two and intimidates them (as u pointed out with mili) but then doesnt attack their self esteem.

now for a variation on the theme.....

Dipa ki tamanna hai Abhi Yasu ko mil jaaye
chaahe Dipa ki jaan jaaye chahe Dipa ka dil toot jaaye....

(and then i'll continue)

Abhi to pehle hi Yasu ka ho chuka
Rani aur DIpa ko, woh apni bhains keh chukaa

(sung to the tune of Panna ki tamanna hai ki.......)

ooooooooo thank u Dipa di, ur so good di just for this i wont have my kids call u aunty ........ di 😆

You're cruisin' for a bruisin' kiddo ... and you can cut out this 'di' crap ... forthwith!!
As for the above raga, I cannot oblige by singing for various reasons, not the least of which is that I haven't a clue of what 'Panna ki Tamanna' is (The only Panna I know is as in 'Panna Cotta')
BTW - I think I've deciphered the 'bunk busters' thing ... analogue to 'Ghost busters' except it's me busting your gobbledygook ideas ... yes? So who's ahead right now - you or Rani?
And darling, you're forgetting the cardinal rule for all our interaction - KB sandwiches!
So - talking of tunes ... whatever they do, I hope they don't have Simi and Abhi singing around trees when/if the next romp in the park takes place! They actually did exactly that on that other serial where the female protagonist asks to be reborn in her own skin ... downright Korny!! But kudos to actors who have no inhibitions about making such fools of themselves ... I just cannot picture that happening on KB!
