Rohman Shawl Talks About His Enduring Connection with Sushmita Sen Post-Breakup

Sushmita Sen, celebrated for her elegance and resilience in Bollywood, has always been an icon both on-screen and off. Recently, her ex-boyfriend Rohman Shawl opened up about their enduring bond, calling himself her “pyaar wala fan” and likening their relationship to the comfort of “dal chawal.”

The former Miss Universe 1994, who debuted in Bollywood with Dastak in 1996, continues to win hearts through her work and personal journey. In a candid interview, Shawl praised Sen, saying, “I was a fan, but now I am a ‘pyaar wala’ fan. I saw the hard work she puts in. I am the biggest fan of her mind. She knows what is going on around her.”

Reflecting on their unique dynamic post-breakup, Shawl added, “People talk about exes being friends, but if you don’t have anything in common to talk about, how can you be friends? We are dal-chawal, there’s comfort, we understand each other completely, and we don’t care what people think or talk about.”

Shawl, who was in a relationship with Sen for three years before their amicable separation in 2021, emphasised that outside opinions hold no weight in their equation. “What matters most is that we understand each other, and that is enough for me,” he said.

Apart from his bond with Sen, Shawl also shares a close relationship with her daughters, Renee and Alisah. Despite the end of their romantic relationship, his connection with the girls has remained intact. Shawl described them as “smart kids” and credited Sen for their upbringing.

“For them, it’s a relationship between me and their mum, and we share a completely different equation independent of my relationship with Sushmita. We’ve stayed the same. They are very mature kids, and the credit goes to their mum. She has taught them how to live life,” he said.

Sen and Shawl’s enduring camaraderie continues to serve as an example of mutual respect and understanding, transcending conventional narratives around relationships.
