Comedian Kunal Kamra has been embroiled in controversy following his recent comments against Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The comedian is facing criticism and legal challenges as a result of these comments, and now Shiv Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai has called for his arrest.
According to Hindustan Times, Desai recently issued a threat to Kunal Kamra, demanding that authorities deliver him a form of "recompense." While "recompense" typically refers to an offering to a deity, it is also employed as a veiled term for punishment.
We have been asked by Shinde to observe restraint, that is why we are quiet. As Shiv Sena workers, we know how to drag him out from wherever he is hiding, but as ministers, we have some restrictions

“Do not test our patience. Nab him from wherever he is, put him in a tyre and give him ‘prasad’," he added.
Kunal Kamra has been the target of strong criticism from the Shiv Sena specifically for his comments directed at Maharashtra's deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde.
“Kamra serves filth to people in the name of comedy. To protest against his dirty mentality, we have put up his picture here. If he ever visited Madhya Pradesh, Shiv Sena workers will blacken his face and parade him on the streets," Anurag Sonar, president of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Shiv Sena’s youth wing Yuva Sena, said.
During a recent performance, Kunal Kamra created a parody song based on a popular Hindi film soundtrack, labeling Eknath Shinde a "traitor" for his 2022 rebellion against the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government. Using a musical twist on the song 'Bholi Si Surat', Kamra mocked Shinde, singing, "Meri nazar se tum dekho to gaddar nazar wo aaye. Haaye!"
The clip quickly gained attention online, prompting the Shiv Sena to threaten legal action. Some party members vandalized the venue where the show was recorded. Twelve party leaders were arrested but later released on bail on Monday.
Meanwhile, a police complaint has been filed against Kamra for his comments about Shinde. He has also been summoned by Mumbai police.
It was recently reported that the comedian informed the police that he does not regret his statements made during the show and would only offer an apology if directed by the courts. However, Kamra indicated that he would abide by the law. Meanwhile, Kamra has also secured anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court.
