Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has once again found himself in the middle of controversy. The 36-year-old comedian is facing backlash for referring to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor) during his recent stand-up special, Naya Bharat. Now, he has accused music label T-Series of trying to block his video on YouTube by filing a copyright strike against it.

Kamra, who is known for his sharp political satire, took to X (formerly Twitter) to hit back at T-Series. He wrote, "Hello @TSeries, stop being a stooge. Parody & Satire comes under fair use legally. I haven’t used the lyrics or the original instrumental of the song." He further defended his content, saying that parody is a legally protected form of creative expression and should not be silenced.

Expressing concerns over the implications of such actions, Kamra warned that this could affect other content creators as well. "If you take this video down, every cover song/dance video can be taken down. Creators, please take note of it." He also urged people to watch or download his special before it is possibly removed, adding, "Every monopoly in India is nothing short of Mafia."

The controversy started when Kamra performed a parody of the song Bholi Si Surat from Dil To Pagal Hai, modifying the lyrics to mock Eknath Shinde’s political journey. He sang, "Meri nazar se tum dekho to gaddar nazar wo aaye. Haaye!" This did not sit well with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), which took legal action against him.

The situation escalated further when some Shiv Sena workers vandalized the venue where Kamra’s show was recorded. Following the violence, 12 party workers were arrested but later released on bail. The legal battle between Kamra and T-Series is still unfolding, with many watching closely to see if Naya Bharat will remain on YouTube or be taken down.
