Comedian Kunal Kamra revealed on Instagram that he was approached to join the next season of Salman Khan's reality show, "Bigg Boss." He shared a screenshot of a conversation with a casting director who reached out to him about the show.
I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting. I know it might not have been on your radar, but honestly, it’s such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience. What do you think? Should we talk about it?

Responding to the message, Kamra wrote, “I would much rather check into a mental hospital…"

While it's unclear if Kunal Kamra was approached for "Bigg Boss OTT Season 4" or "Bigg Boss 19," his response to the offer has generated significant online buzz.
Beyond the reality TV news, Kamra has been in the spotlight for other reasons. On Tuesday, the Bombay High Court granted him protection from arrest until April 16 following an FIR filed against him by the Shiv Sena over a satirical video and a remark allegedly made against Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The court also issued a notice to the respondents in the case.
Adding to his recent controversies, Kamra has accused BookMyShow of removing his shows due to political pressure. In a scathing open letter posted on X (formerly Twitter), he challenged the platform's practices and demanded access to audience data gathered through ticket sales.
“Without the state’s cooperation, iconic shows like Coldplay and Guns N’ Roses wouldn’t be possible," Kamra wrote, adding, “I understand that BookMyShow needs to maintain a cordial relationship with the state, and I know that Mumbai is a major hub for live entertainment."
In his open letter, Kamra also raised concerns about BookMyShow's exclusive control over listings, adding another layer to his critique of the platform.
“By not allowing artists to list their shows through their own websites, you’ve effectively prevented me from accessing the audience I’ve performed for from 2017 to 2025," he stated.
BookMyShow responded with a public statement saying, “BookMyShow is a platform to facilitate the sale of tickets and operates the business with neutrality and in compliance with the applicable laws of India. Our role is to provide a platform for ticket sales of live shows and it is the decision of the organiser or the venue to list or delist their shows."
