New Delhi, Feb 2 (IANS) Hollywood actor James Caviezel had to learn a dead language for his role in Howard McCain's sci-mythic 'Outlander'.
Caviezel essays the role of Kainan, a humanoid alien in the action adventure and was required to speak an out-of-the-world language to justify being an outsider, said a release from the production house.
The producers zeroed in on Old Norse, a dead language that was a precursor to modern Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish and brought in professors and one of the few people who could actually speak the language to translate the dialogues and teach Caviezel to speak the same.
Having opened in the US Jan 23 to a mixed response, 'Outlander' is releasing Friday in India.
Other actors in the film include John Hurt and Sophia Myles.
The movie will simultaneously also release in Hindi here with the title 'Kurukshetra'.
