The controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh and the release of Sardaar Ji 3 has taken the entertainment world by storm. With increasing backlash over the film's overseas release and the inclusion of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, the situation has sparked debates, protests, and open letters, some even demanding that Diljit be removed from the much-anticipated war drama Border 2. However, HT reports now tell that the singer-actor remains very much a part of the film.
A highly placed source close to the Border 2 team reveals, "There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from the project. His casting was finalised nearly nine months ago, long before any controversy came up. In fact, almost half the film has already been shot with him, so there is no possibility of making changes now."
The fire was initially lit when Sardaar Ji 3 moved forward with its international release, despite rising tensions and public sentiment against working with Pakistani actors. The fact that Hania Aamir plays the female lead in the film drew sharp criticism. Soon after, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued letters to co-producer Bhushan Kumar and lead actor Sunny Deol, urging them to disassociate from Diljit in Border 2. As of now, neither party has officially responded.
Adding fuel to the fire, FWICE also appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to revoke the permission granted to shoot parts of Border 2 at the NDA premises in Pune. Meanwhile, Neeru Bajwa, Diljit's co-star in Sardaar Ji 3, deleted all promotional posts related to the film from her Instagram just a day before its release. While she hasn't given a statement, fans are speculating her silent protest.
Notably, singer Mika Singh slammed the casting of Hania Aamir, while Guru Randhawa posted a cryptic message online that many believe was aimed at Diljit. While the controversy shows no signs of cooling off, for now, Diljit Dosanjh remains firmly attached to Border 2.
