Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 1: Vicky Kaushal’s Film Opens with ?31 Crore Collection

Vicky Kaushal’s much-awaited period drama Chhaava finally hit theatres on Valentine’s Day, and it has started with a bang. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, has registered the biggest opening of 2025, collecting ?31 crore on its first day across all languages.

According to trade reports, Chhaava performed exceptionally well at the box office on its opening day. The movie recorded a solid 35.17% occupancy in Hindi. Morning shows saw a footfall of 30.51%, while afternoon shows witnessed 34.50% occupancy. The evening screenings attracted the highest audience, with a 40.51% occupancy rate.

This grand opening has made Chhaava Vicky Kaushal’s highest opener, surpassing Uri: The Surgical Strike, which had collected ?8.20 crore on its first day. Additionally, Chhaava has outperformed Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which previously held the record for the biggest opening of 2025 with ?15.30 crore. The film also sold nearly 5 lakh tickets in advance bookings, proving its strong pre-release buzz.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava is based on the life of the great Maratha king Sambhaji. Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna appears as Aurangzeb, and Divya Dutta plays Soyarabai. The film also features Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite.

Chhaava is adapted from the famous Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
